'Chair of Cardiothoracic?' Mulan is either excited or annoyed. Her lips haven't twitched yet so it's hard to tell.

'Yeah,' nods Shang. 'I have until Friday to decide.'

'It'll be fixed hours,' says Mulan as she paces the kitchen. 'Twelve hours on and you'll be home. Will you get the option to choose day or night?'

'Park's keeping the day shift.'

Mulan is silent. Her lip twitches, then she's burying her face in her hands. Shang's about to reach for her when she looks up through her fingers.

'They offered me Chair of ED again. Gracie wants to go back to Cedars-Sinai. She thinks West River is cursed.'
