90. Family

'Wait a little longer,' Su Sun advises Mulan. 'Poseidon and I did everything backwards, but we worked out the only way we could have a honeymoon is if I was on maternity leave. I mean, you know what it's like. You and Shang got married on a Saturday morning and then came into work on Sunday like nothing had changed.'

Mulan nods as she contemplates her shrimp katsu sandwich like she's divining tea leaves.

'Just enjoy being married for another year or two,' says Su. 'Mei could do your labs if you were worried about running out of time.'

'I already had her check.' It's said with an inelegant bite that tears crumbed prawn from bread. 'Apparently, my ovaries think they're seventeen. Mei said it's probably a miracle Shang hasn't accidentally knocked me up.'

'Is he firing blanks?'

'Nope,' smirks Mulan. 'My man is a perfect stallion.'
