95. Roses

Mulan is leaning against the back of the elevator as it moves down to the parking lot. Her final appointment cancelled for the day, and she spent the last thirty minutes on the phone with her attorney, discussing divorce procedures, and crying behind her desk. She hopes no one's waiting for the elevator and that she can slink to her truck and cry some more.

But as the doors pull open, they slowly reveal a cardiothoracic surgeon in jeans and a sweater. He's holding a bouquet of roses. Mulan moves her hands to cover her face.

'I'm an idiot,' says Shang. 'I've been the biggest idiot.'

He moves towards her as the elevator doors are closing, then reaches out to smack the emergency stop button.

'Mulan, you're my life.'
