Summary: Sakura is worried and concerned about Sasuke being away longer than needed for a mission.

Sakura paced back and forth at the village gates, Itachi stood at the side along with Izumi.

"You don't need to worry yourself so much Sakura, Sasuke said he would return today and he will."

"But he was meant to come back three months ago."

"Missions have their setbacks, you should know that all too well. But he's fine, he sent a letter to the Hokage and Naruto's with him now."

That's true since the first letter came back about the ambush Kakashi had tasked Naruto to go help. They received another one weeks later afterwards letting them know Naruto had found Sasuke.

"What if he's bleeding? What if he needs extreme medical care?"

"Again Naruto's with him. If he needs medical care he'll take him to one. Don't stress yourself out so much." Itachi tried to reassure her, he knew how much she cared about his brother and Sasuke had personally asked him to watch out for Sakura.

She's always worrying about me and Naruto. Make sure she doesn't push herself when I'm away.

He had promised his brother but unfortunately, she's more stubborn than he gave her credit for. This is why Izumi's here with him, he figured she would be more understanding about the situation and could get her to listen.

"Itachi's right, I know you're worried about him. I always worry about Itachi on his missions but stressing won't do you any good." Sakura paused for a moment, taking in her words. She knew she should have more faith in Sasuke, especially as now Naruto was with him. But still, she couldn't help but worry.

She knew him too well and that he would still push himself with broken bones and all.

The pacing had stopped however as two silhouettes came into view.

"Hey Sakura-Chan, don't worry. Everything is all okay." Naruto shouted to reassure her but she made her way over to the Uchiha as soon as he stepped in through the gates.

Thankfully he wasn't beaten up too badly. Naruto must have taken him somewhere as Itachi said.

"What do you think you're doing? Do you have any idea how worried I've been? How worried we've been?"

"Sakura-" Naruto awkwardly stepped aside, leaving the two to have their own time and not wanting to get involved.

"I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat. I've been asking almost every day if Kakashi had heard anything. I… I thought you were dead."

He said nothing but looked away guiltily. Of course, there was nothing to feel guilty of. Not every mission goes to plan but he couldn't look her in the eyes and pretend everything went fine.

It didn't and he probably would have been dead if the enemy's plan hadn't backfired on them. Sasuke got lucky.

Itachi was about to break the awkward silence but then Sakura did something that none of them expected. She pulled him down and pressed her lips against his. She kissed him.

She kissed him in front of everyone. Well by everyone, just Naruto, Itachi and Izumi. Their eyes widened and Izumi's face flushed at the act. It was rather bold, what's more Uchihas were not used to public displays of affection. They could only stare and gape and as Sakura pulled away her own eyes widened at what she did.

"I uh-" Taking a step back, the kunoichi blushed, not knowing what had gotten into her. A rush of adrenaline maybe?

"I need to go." And before Sasuke could stop her, she ran away ashamed. What right did she have to kiss him out of the blue? Especially when he just came back. They weren't dating and in front of Itachi as well. No doubt Fugaku and Mikoto would hear about it.

Sasuke continued to stare at the space Sakura stood moments ago. Unsure how to process anything. The older Uchiha, taking notice, coughed to gain his attention.

"Well, as I was about to say. Mother and father had wanted to greet you but I told them not to worry." Sasuke nodded still in shock at the kiss.

"You could always go after her, you know." Izumi prodded, seeing the inner debate Sasuke was having.

"Sakura's been worried sick about you and I'm sure you would have felt the same had it been the other way around. Right Itachi?" Nudging his arm so that he could help encourage his brother.

"Ah," typical. However, it didn't seem like he needed much persuading as he immediately took off afterwards. Well, at least they could inform Mikoto and Fugaku about the new relationship.
