While the memorial service was going on in Washington, the two captured men were giving MI6 and Scotland Yard whatever information they were requesting in return for leniency. By helping in the capture and torture of the wife of the President of the United States, they were facing extradition and certain life sentences without parole. By cooperating, they were promised at least the chance of remaining in English prisons and remaining near their families. So whatever questions they were asked and had knowledge of, they gave their interrogators the information requested.
After a few hours, the call the trio at Lord John's manor house had been waiting for came through.
"Yes, Cecil, do you know the location of McGann?" Lord John asked his MI6 contact.
"We think we do. There's a safe house on the outskirts of Belfast that we didn't know about previously. Our snitch says he has seen a tall, red headed man there in the past 24 hours. It fits McGann's description to perfection. However, our snitch says there's been no sign of any women around. But if we capture McGann, we have a better chance of finding Mrs. Bartlet than we've ever had."
"Cecil, this is Ron Butterfield." He and Nancy had been listening on the speakerphone.
"Yes, Ron?"
"Do you think it's time for us to head to Belfast to be there to talk to McGann? I mean, what is your guesstimate of success?"
"Ron, I would say 80 to 90 %. This snitch is damn good. If you want to come, I would wait until absolute darkness, then come on. I'll make arrangements for transportation from the airport. Usually, we would take McGann back to Dublin, but I feel time is important so I've secured private facilities in Belfast."
Ron looked at Lord John, who gave him a thumbs up. "Okay, we'll be there around eleven once we the get the message that you have gotten McGann. I'm going to say the obvious, Cecil. We need him alive, Cecil. He's apparently the only one who can lead us to Mrs. Bartlet. We absolutely need him alive."
"I know that, Ron and all of my men know that. I only hope he doesn't pull a gun because my men will defend themselves. You do accept that fact?"
"Yes, I do. I'm behind you on that, but just wound him if you can. We have to have him tell us where she is or all of this is for nothing."
"I understand. Okay, I'll see you later this evening. Bye for now."
"Good luck, Cecil."
"We're going to need it."
John put the phone down. "I'll call my pilot to get the plane ready. Then, do you want to call Washington?"
Ron and Nancy looked at each other.
"Nancy, what do you think? Leo is involved in the memorial service right now. Should we get his hopes up or should we wait until we have more solid news?"
"Hell, Ron, this is a toss-up. On one hand, it's great news we've located the son of a bitch, but on the other hand, just because we've located him doesn't mean we have him in our custody."
"We need to choose something, Nancy."
"Let's wait a little longer then. Let's see what Cecil does in the next few hours. Maybe by then we'll have solid news to give to Leo. He's already going crazy so what's a couple of hours more?"
