Chapter 3: Operation Sundown

"Rumors that the United States is secretly funding Neo-ISIS cells within the MEC have begun to surface. In other news, the Iranian Government finally recognizes Israel as a legitimate member of the MEC, but it is believed by many it's merely a economic matter regarding sanctions-"

The TV was turned off by someone in a barracks, with them having an annoyed expression

?: "Can you believe that? Our government finally recognizing Israel has got to be a 'hold up' moment or something!" He flips his arms in a 'giving up' motion. "Seriously, this is fishy!"

Almost everyone in the room simply waved it off, believing it to be misinformation or at worst, 'Jewish Propaganda'. There was knocking on the barracks, which Captain Afshin walks inside

Captain Afshin: "I see everyone is here... Alright, listen up! We have a secret mission to get coffee and Zalabiyeh, but the cultists drank all of the coffee and ate all of the Zalabiyeh. So now, we're going to kick their asses'' The captain jokes, which he was met with silence and his comrades' neutral faces, with two just facepalming

Captain Afshin: "Right…" He coughed and his tone became serious. "We're moving out in a few hours, dismissed"

He salutes the soldiers and leaves, much to their collective confusion. Many of them went to their respective lockers and got themselves ready for the mission.

?: "Did he get that from somewhere?" One of the asked

?: "I...Have no idea…" One of them answered back.

The entire team gears up for the mission assigned by Captain Afshin. While doing so, they make small talk, with two of them about the operation…

?: "You know...This is sudden, right?" One of them asked another, "I know there has been cultist activity, but what kind of OP are we doing?" One of them stops and looks at him with a face that has him thinking about what he just said...

?: "Assasination perhaps? We haven't done that since well...Forever!" He stated with a casual tone, "It could be a rescue op, since the damned cultists don't have hostages for long...Knowing their activities, Corporal Abbas..." He goes back to gearing up, finishing up with making sure his Spec-Ops helmet is secured on top of his head…

Abbas: "Yeah...It's a strange turn of events, right?" Abbas said to his fellow soldier, "Like something out of a generic American apocalypse film, like 2012" Abbas noted, which his fellow soldier nodded.

"You said it best, Abbas", He told Abbas

They finished preparing for the mission and they walked into one of the warehouses, which is currently being used as a command center. Captain Ashfin notices the two and waves them over, while the team is in front of a table.

Captain Ashfin: "Alright everyone is here, let's get on with the course of action'; We'll be arriving by helicopter 2 miles away from the town, where we'll split up just at the outside of town" Ashfin stated while pointing at the town entrance location on the map. He looked at Sergeant-Major Caspar to tell the rest.

Sergeant-Major Caspar: "Team A will go through the town streets while Team B will take the roof tops, supporting Team A. Both teams will meet up at a warehouse we believed to have the members of a local satanist cult and probably hostages, if they're not sacrificed first…" He noted with everyone nodding sadly, "We'll be in leaving immediately, dismissed"

After saying his piece, the soldiers quickly tint to their assigned helicopter, which Captain Ashfin singles the pilots to start it up. After the helicopter starts up and goes into the air, Abbas elbows his fellow squad mate to get his attention…

Abbas: "Wanna watch some news, Malik?" He asked his friend, "It'll kill the time"

Malik thinks for a bit. "Sure"

he shrugged, "It's going to be a long ride" He said and nodded his head.

Abbas carefully brings out his phone, only for Caspar to smack his hand. Seeing Caspar's disapproval, Abbas sighs in defeat…

"This….This is going to be a long ride" He said ironically

"Hey cheer up Corporal, you can use your phone...Just no news this time" Caspar said to Abbas, which surprised him, "I had enough of it for a while" he stated with a groan

One of the soldiers hmms for a second. "Well...It could be worse" He stated, "The cultists could be trying to summon demons" He said, with the whole cabin looking at him funny

He looks around. "What?" He asked with confusion in his voice

The whole cabin bursts out laughing at his hypothetical scenario

"Demon…" Abbas said, while trying not to resume laughing, "No such thing"

Meanwhile in an another realm, a cat humanoid with wings with a top hat is groaning and he isn't groaning from a hangover

He rubs his head. "Ugh…." He groaned, which attracted the attention of a woman

She walks over towards Him "Are you alright Husk?" She asked, "Do you need more headache medication?" She asked with a sweet and concerned tone

Husk groans with annoyance. "It isn't fucking that Princess" He sneered, with the woman's face being saddened by his remark, "Sorry, I have a strange feeling about someone denying the existence of us…" He said, with the woman's face be confused, "Ah fuck it just bring me another pill bottle, I have a killer headache coming…" He said with a pained time

Her face returns to normal, "Oh, I'm on it!" She said with enthusiasm, "And don't take more than two, I don't want another accident like that" She said with a scolding and concerned tone before heading off, with Husk dismissing her warning and resumed drinking from a bottle of Bourbon...
