Hey babes! Back again with the FINAL CHAPTER! I really spoiled you guys with the updates for this one, but that's just because I was so excited to share it with you all. This is probably my favorite of the four chapters, there's so much MacRiley goodness in this one, obviously. Very fluffy and domestic, if you ask me. This one covers the events of 4x05, with a MacRiley spin on it, of course.

Also, story titles are tough, but there's a particular piece of dialogue that I wrote toward the end that I knew pretty quickly was going to be the title for this fic. So that's fun.

Shoutout to my friend Cassie for being the only one to know about a certain part of this fic that I, personally, think is pretty brilliant. :)

Enjoy!

Standing in front of the stove with a spatula in her hand, Riley smiles when she feels a familiar pair of arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her back. She willingly goes, leaning her head back and letting her eyes flutter closed as warm lips attach to her neck. Mac's always been an affectionate guy, but it's like it's been elevated by a thousand now that they're sleeping together too. Not that she's complaining in the slightest.

She loves when Mac gets super affectionate, and she's grateful that he never overdoes it when they're in public around other people, especially their coworkers. But whenever they're alone...all bets are off and he will have his hands on any part of her body that he can at any given moment. Of course, he does the same when they're working, his hands lingering on her arm or back for a moment longer, but when they're alone, it's so much more. Even if they're just lounging on the couch watching a movie, he has an arm over her shoulders, or a hand on her thigh, or their hands linked together, or a million other little things that always make her heart swell.

She loves getting to see this side of Mac. He's certainly not shy about expressing how he feels about her with his actions. And with his words. Because he loves complimenting her at any chance he can find. Even when they're standing in the kitchen while she's making breakfast.

"It smells amazing in here," he mutters against her skin.

"I'm making omelets," she tells him, cracking one eye open quickly to check on the food.

Mac hums against her shoulder. "I wasn't talking about breakfast."

Despite herself, a blush creeps up her cheeks. They've been together for a couple of months now, so she's not sure if she should still be blushing whenever he compliments her or not. But she doesn't really care. She's deliriously happy.

"So that's where your head is at this morning," she says with a smile.

"I missed you when I woke up."

"You know I always go home to change when we have impromptu sleepovers."

Mac finally lifts his head to look at her. "Doesn't mean I don't miss you. I like waking up next to you."

"And I like waking up next to you. But I needed some clean clothes, which means I needed to go back to my place."

"But what if you didn't go back to your place whenever you stay over?"

Riley spins around in his arms, holding the spatula up at him like a pointer and raising an eyebrow. "Angus MacGyver, what are you trying to ask me?"

He smiles. "I'm trying to ask if you'd want to have space in my dresser for some of your things."

Riley can't help the smile that grows on her lips, lifting her arms to circle them around Mac's neck. "It's only been a couple of months."

"The best couple of months ever," he says back, leaning down to gently kiss her. "What do you think?" he asks after pulling away. "Do you want to keep some clothes here so you don't have to go back to your apartment in the mornings whenever you stay over?"

Riley lifts up onto her toes, tightening her arms around him. "I think that sounds very doable."

Mac grins, wrapping his arms completely around her and leaning down to capture her lips in his. He kisses her deeply, his hands sliding down to rest comfortably on her lower back and pull her closer.

Riley returns the kiss, letting the spatula clatter to the floor as she cradles the back of his head. She uses the extra leverage to jump up, wrapping her legs tightly around his waist so she can get as close to him as possible. She hears a faint click coming from the direction of the stove and then they're moving.

Moments later, her back is on the couch and Mac is above her, his lips detaching from hers to leave a trail of kisses along her neck and down toward her collarbone. She digs her fingers into his hair as she closes her eyes, her back arching involuntarily in anticipation of what's about to happen. Mac is a man of many talents, something that takes on a whole new meaning when it comes to their sex life.

Unfortunately, both of their cell phones going off interrupts the moment between them. She's left panting when Mac pulls away from her, his eyes filled with hungry desire and a bit of irritation. She completely understands, feeling slightly irritated herself.

Leaning up, she quickly kisses him and then lays back down with a small smile. "I promise we will finish this."

Mac smiles. "I'm gonna hold you to that." He captures her lips in one more kiss that leaves her head nearly spinning and then climbs off the couch to retrieve his phone.

She's never felt like this with any of her previous relationships so soon into the relationship. But she's certainly not complaining about it. Developing feelings for Mac was completely unexpected, but it makes perfect sense when she thinks about it now. And she really wouldn't have it any other way.

"It's Matty," Mac says as he approaches, sliding his phone into his pocket. "Apparently Taylor has something very important that he needs all of us to see."

Riley sighs as she pushes herself up so she's sitting on the couch. "Guess that means we have to go to work, then."

"Guess so." He grabs her hands and tugs her up from the couch, her body gently colliding with his as his arms snake around her waist. "Same car or separate?"

"Let's drive separately. That way after we're done I can go back to my place and pack up some clothes to keep over here while you" —she smiles slyly as she slides her hands down over his chest and abdomen— "make sure you're prepared to finish what you started."

Mac grins, kissing her quickly. "Separate cars it is."

Once they arrive at the Phoenix, everyone else is already there, and it's obvious by his appearance that Taylor hasn't gotten much sleep recently. Well, that, and the whiteboard behind him being completely covered in random symbols tells her that he's been obsessing over something. And that something evidently has a name; Codex.

And they're going to "hit them where it hurts", as Taylor so eloquently put it, which means going after their money. Because, according to Matty, a big organization like that needs money to function. Which means they're going undercover to a soccer—or football as Taylor so adamantly says—game in Milan to find one specific man within Codex; the Merchant.

"Too bad we most likely won't have any downtime while we're in Italy," Riley says to Mac while they're all getting everything together down in the labs for the op. "I'm sure there are numerous romantic spots waiting for us to explore."

Mac smiles, leaning down to press a quick kiss to her temple. "One day, I promise."

.

.

.

Unfortunately, they miss their first opportunity at grabbing the Merchant while they're undercover at a charity event that the soccer team Desi's now a part of is attending. Things had been going fairly well, with Desi making contact with another member of the team and finding out some valuable information. But the Merchant got away, naturally, and so now they have to find another angle to get at him from.

Which is how they wind up undercover in a casino, though Riley's not complaining too much about her undercover persona. Sometimes the undercover work can be fun.

"Married people are smug and annoying," she remarks as she leans sideways against the grand piano inside the casino. "But it's kinda fun playing a newlywed." She smiles as she raises her left hand to admire the engagement ring adorning her finger, provided to her by the Phoenix's money.

Mac smiles down at her. "Indeed it is." He quickly reaches up to mute his comm, waiting for a brief moment while she turns hers off, and then leans down closer to her until his lips are by her ear. "You should talk to Matty about letting you keep that outfit," he says huskily and then presses a small kiss right below her ear, sending a shiver down her spine.

She looks up at him, turning just enough so their chests are barely touching, smirking at the way he sucks in a sharp breath. "Oh yeah? And why's that?"

"Because you've always looked breathtaking in all-black outfits and I would love to see you in this particular ensemble way more often. Preferably when we're alone."

Riley nods. "Ah. So it's purely for personal reasons, then."

"The best reason there is." He smiles and drops a kiss to her temple before turning and sauntering toward one of the card tables, reaching up to reactivate his comm as he goes.

Riley swallows thickly at the very obvious insinuation behind Mac's words and then quickly catches up to him, easily falling into step beside him as she switches her comm back on.

"You know, we never talked about our honeymoon," he says to her when she reaches his side, easily falling back into their undercover personas. "I got it; Yellowknife Canada."

She smiles. "Yeah. Who needs Paris?"

Mac gestures to one of the empty chairs for her to sit in while he takes up the one right next to it. "They have these amazing cabins where you can sit, roast marshmallows, and watch the aurora borealis."

"That sounds amazing."

"It is," he says, counting out a few bills from the small wad of cash he pulled out of his back pocket. "It's a disturbance in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind." He pauses as he sets the cash down on the table, then glances at her and pulls his lips in tightly. "You were talking about the marshmallows."

She nods with a smile. "Yeah."

He lets out a quick laugh. "Yeah, sorry. Solar winds get me really excited."

Her smile grows a little wider as she looks at him, her elbows resting on top of the card table. "And that's why I married you."

Something passes between them at that moment. She's just not sure what. Mac gives her a look that makes her insides flop all around, but before she has time to truly register it, they're focusing back on the op and the game of cards going on in front of them. It lingers in the back of her mind, though.

Seconds later, Desi joins them at the table, sitting a couple of seats away. She loses pretty big a couple of times, but none of it grabs the attention of the manager standing near them like they want it to. Their entire plan hinges on Desi losing money and catching the attention of the higher-ups.

Thankfully, Russ offers up an idea, as well as more of his money, to hopefully get the plan moving along. Desi needs to leave their game and join roulette, taking out a ten thousand euro marker to make the stakes higher.

For their part, she and Mac leave the card game after a few minutes and linger against a wall by the roulette wheel in case the plan requires some improvisation from Mac. Which it probably will, knowing their track record. To the rest of the casino, it looks like they're a couple of newlyweds taking a small break from gambling to just be there with each other.

And she'd be lying if she said she wasn't having fun on this particular part of the op. They may be pretending to be married, but the affection between them is completely real. Every look, touch, and gesture is all them. And she knows Mac is enjoying how much he gets to have his hands on her during this op. Like right now, he's leaning back against the wall with an arm around her to hold her close, his hand resting dangerously low on her back. His free hand is holding one of hers, their fingers laced together perfectly as they talk.

After a moment, Mac lifts her left hand with a smile. "Now we really didn't skimp on this, did we?"

She smiles, watching as Mac places a small kiss on her knuckle right next to the ring. "No, we did not. A little flashy for my usual taste, but I think I could get used to it."

"Good to know."

Again, something passes between them and she sucks in a sharp breath at the look in Mac's eyes. She'd be lying if she said that look, combined with the suit Mac's wearing, doesn't make her want to drag him off to the nearest supply closet to have her way with him. But she pushes those thoughts to the back of her mind for later and focuses on the mission.

Thankfully, she didn't miss much during her momentary zone out, and she tunes back in just in time for Desi to win big at roulette. The exact opposite of what she needs to do to get the manager's attention.

"This is not good," Russ' voice comes over their comms. "She should be wallowing in debt."

"This is the weirdest problem I've ever had."

"Riles, I need your purse."

Riley smiles as she holds the accessory out to Mac. "Doesn't match your outfit, but okay."

He chuckles quietly as he takes it. "Taylor, I'm gonna need one of your epic sneezes in about ten seconds."

Riley stands back and watches as Mac pulls apart the magnetic clasp of her purse, an amused look passing between them as he hands the bag back to her and then walks toward the roulette table. Right on cue, Taylor sneezes and everyone looks in his direction, allowing Mac to do his thing.

And his plan works, just like always. Desi loses all of her money and gets contacted by the Merchant. So then they're on the move to find a way to the meeting so they can hopefully intercept the man.

However, despite their best efforts, the Merchant gets away from them. Again. Meaning Desi has to follow through with the scheduled soccer game and they'll all just have to hope for the best.

Of course, knowing what they do about the Merchant's methods, they're going to have a very small window to track him down and save Desi's life at the same time. So long as they can find a way to do just that. Which is why Mac ends up scouting the stadium during the game the next day while she, Russ, and Bozer wait in the control booth. She trusts Mac to find a way, but he better find it fast.

"We can use the crowd," Mac says as he steps back into the control booth, almost as soon as she finishes her thought. "If the Merchant hits the button on the device, we can trace the signal back to him. He's probably boosting it with an antenna."

"What's the point of that?" Taylor asks. "If he pushes the button, it's too late. Desi gets shocked."

Mac shakes his head. "No. Not if we intercept it. Riley, what would it take to triangulate that signal using a cell phone GPS?"

"Software for the phones to communicate," she answers without hesitation, having a feeling she knows exactly where he's going with this. "I could push it through the stadium app."

"That's genius," Bozer remarks. "Use cell phones in the crowd. They won't even know."

"Guess I'm hacking the phone company again," she says as she turns her attention back to her laptop.

"Once the merchant presses that button, we'll be able to track his location," Mac explains.

Bozer nods in understanding. "Then Russ and I will grab him."

"Alright, let's just take this back," Taylor pipes in. "How exactly are you going to stop Desi from being electrocuted?"

"I'm gonna build a jammer."

"A jammer?"

Mac nods wordlessly and then rushes out of the room, the door swinging shut behind him.

Riley smiles to herself as he goes, laughing quietly at Taylor's confusion. "Trust me, Taylor. Him not explaining is a good thing, means his mind is working hard to build that jammer so we can save Desi and find the Merchant."

"Is he always like that?"

She nods. "More often than not, yeah. You get used to it and learn to love it."

"Says the woman who's dating him," Bozer counters with a light scoff.

Riley just rolls her eyes and continues tapping away at the keys of her computer. It doesn't take long for her to get into the phone company, something she could do in her sleep, and then it's just a matter of waiting for Mac to be ready on his end of things.

"Please tell me that jammer is ready," Desi's voice rings through the comm a few moments later when she's getting ready for a penalty kick that she's supposed to botch.

"Almost," Mac replies. "I'm gonna have to get closer, though. The range is too limited. I need you to buy some time."

Things are quiet for a moment, all of them waiting with bated breath for whatever's about to happen.

"Guys, I can't stall any longer."

"I'm locked out of the field, give me one more minute."

"What?" Taylor exclaims, and then the three of them immediately rush from the booth and out into the stands.

Riley doesn't know exactly what Mac is doing, but by the look of what's on her tablet, whatever plan he cooked up seems to be working.

"Guys?" Mac speaks over the comm. "What's going on?"

"We're tracking him now," Riley tells him. "Section G27. Let's go." She glances behind her at Taylor and Bozer and then takes off into a run. They book it as fast as they can and Riley is praying that the Merchant will still be in his seat. He's bound to be upset when he realizes that his device isn't working, and they need to catch him before he storms out or finds another way to take care of Desi.

Emerging into the exact section where the tracker leads them, they approach the row, only to find the seats nearest to them completely empty. No Merchant. The only thing there is a paper shopping bag sitting on the concrete.

"There's no sign of Titan or the Merchant," Russ remarks, moving into the row and approaching the bag, stopping next to it and reaching inside. "We found his remote."

Riley curses internally. "That means we can't track him." Her brows furrow slightly at the continued craziness of the crowd around them.

"Well, that's a sight I could have gone my whole life without seeing," Taylor remarks after a moment.

"At least he kept his underwear on, though," Bozer replies.

Riley finally spins around toward the field, her eyes going wide when she sees her boyfriend running down the length of the soccer field wearing only his boxer briefs, the rest of his clothing strewn across the grass as security guards chase after him. An immediate blush creeps up her cheeks, though she's not entirely sure why. It's not like she hasn't seen him completely naked before, and her thoughts last night at the casino were definitely not PG. But maybe it's the fact that his incredibly toned body is on display for the rest of the world. At least they aren't getting the full show, though. Because then they'd be having some issues.

.

.

.

A few hours, and one Italian lockup bailout, later, they're on the jet back to LA and raising a toast to Taylor. They didn't catch the Merchant or Titan, but Codex has been spooked and the match-fixing has been shut down. They still have a ways to go until they can shut down Codex for good, but for now, it brings them one step closer to the ultimate goal.

Moving closer to Mac's seat when Taylor goes back to his own, Riley settles herself on the armrest, resting a hand on Mac's shoulder to keep herself balanced. "So, I've been meaning to talk to you. That was quite a show you put on back there at the stadium."

A slight blush creeps onto Mac's cheeks and he ducks his head. "Yeah, it was the only thing I could think of to do. I probably should have thought of something beforehand, but I was so focused on building the jammer that I didn't think about what I'd do if I ended up on the field."

"Don't worry, I get it. Besides, you do some of your best work when you have to think on the fly. And I won't deny that I did enjoy the view a little, though I'm glad you didn't show off your entire body to the stadium."

Mac smiles, snaking an arm around her waist and letting his hand settle on her hip. "You, Miss Davis, are the only one that view is for."

She smiles, leaning down to kiss him quickly. "Glad to hear it. Also, I should probably tell you that I wasn't able to convince Matty to let me keep the outfit from the casino. She had questions, and I wasn't about to tell her that you get turned on seeing me in all black."

Mac chuckles, lightly squeezing her hip. "That's okay. I'm sure we can figure something out." He takes a deep breath. "But, if you still want to come over when we land, I might have a surprise planned for you."

Riley tilts her head a little. "Mm...I don't think I told you that I like seeing you in all black too."

"Uh, you didn't. But that's very good information to know. This surprise has nothing to do with this morning, but I still think you're going to like it. So do you want to come over?"

She smiles and nods. "Absolutely. I gotta know what this surprise is."

"Good. I have to run a couple of errands first to get what I need for your surprise, but I can text you when it's ready so you can come over."

"Sounds great. I want to change, anyway. And grab some clothes to keep at your place. But I am very much looking forward to this surprise you have planned." She gives him another quick kiss and then leans against him a little, resting her cheek on the top of his head and carding her fingers through his hair. She has a smile on her face as her eyes close, breathing deeply and letting herself relax.

Sometimes she can't believe how incredibly lucky she is to have someone like Mac in her life in a way that she never expected. He is one of the best things to ever happen to her and she doesn't even want to think about what her life would be like right now had he not gotten her out of prison. Because she knows it would be nowhere as great as it is right now.

Once they land back in LA, she says goodbye to everyone and then heads back to her place to change into something more comfortable. If she's going to Mac's, then chances are high that they're going to be watching movies or just lounging around not doing much. So leggings and a t-shirt it is.

After she's changed and feeling a little better after the craziness from the op, she packs up various clothing choices and then sits back and waits for Mac to text her. When he does eventually text her, telling her that her surprise is ready for her, she's back in her car and driving to his place. It's not a long drive, and as soon as she gets there she's out of the car and knocking on his front door.

It opens a second later to reveal Mac on the other side, a simple pair of sweats and a t-shirt adorning his body. He smiles brightly. "Hey."

"Hi." She steps into the house, pressing a kiss to his cheek as she passes, and then shrugs out of her jacket and drops it and her bag of clothes on the nearest surface. She spins around as the door closes. "So, what's this surprise you wanted to show me?"

"Come with me." He grabs her hand and drags her through the house toward the back deck. He's a bundle of excited energy as he pulls her along, and just like their first date, she finds it adorable.

Stepping out onto the deck, a quiet gasp escapes at what she sees. A white sheet is set up against the back railing of the deck, with some kind of Mac-created projector sitting in front of it. There's a small table sitting next to the roaring fire that has graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars on it. Two roasting sticks are propped up next to it, rubber stoppers covering the sharp points.

Letting go of Mac's hand, she moves across the deck, getting a closer look at the projection. "Wait. Is this the aurora borealis?" she asks, glancing over her shoulder.

Mac smiles and steps closer to her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her back against him. "It is. I know it isn't Yellowknife, but you sounded excited at the idea of roasting marshmallows."

"And obviously you're excited about watching the aurora borealis," she teases, resting her hands on his and leaning her head back against his shoulder.

He laughs quietly. "Yes, I am. But…since we can't be in Yellowknife right now to experience that, I thought I'd bring the experience to us."

Riley smiles, standing up just enough to turn around in Mac's arms, winding her own around his torso. She rises on her toes a little and kisses him quickly. "Thank you. This is very sweet."

"Well, I'm glad you like it. Shall we make some s'mores now?"

Riley smiles wide at the notion and nods. "Yes, please." She reluctantly steps out of Mac's arms to allow him to get the supplies ready while she sits down by the fire. A blanket is draped over her shoulders a moment later and she looks up to see Mac smiling and sitting down next to her. "What's this for?" she asks.

He shrugs. "I don't know."

She laughs quietly but pulls the blanket around her anyways.

Mac laughs with her and then holds out one of the roasting sticks. "For you."

"Why thank you," she replies, taking the stick and popping off the rubber caps. "Marshmallow, please." She holds out a hand to him and wiggles her fingers a little, smiling when he drops a couple of marshmallows into her open palm. She quickly skewers one of the fluffy desserts and then extends it out over the fire.

"Want me to get you a graham cracker and chocolate bar?" Mac asks a second later.

She shrugs. "If you want to. Aren't you going to make a s'more too?"

"I might." His face twists a little as he starts to stand up. "I've just...I've never been able to make one without it catching on fire."

Riley lets out another laugh. "Of course you haven't. In that case, I'll have to show you how to make the perfect s'more."

Mac smiles softly. "I'm looking forward to it."

She watches him walk back over to the supplies and then turns her attention to the fire. Thankfully she'd thought to lift her marshmallow out of the fire before she started talking to Mac, so now she lowers it back in to continue roasting it.

Quiet shuffling next to her a moment later tells her that Mac is back. Out of the corner of her eye she sees a plate being set down on her other side with two graham cracker halves and a small section of chocolate on it. And then he's sitting beside her again.

After a moment, her marshmallow is done, so she pulls it from the fire and then expertly puts the dessert together. She sets the roasting stick behind her and then takes a bite out of her s'more, some of the marshmallow oozing out the sides.

She can't help it when a small moan of delight escapes from the back of her throat, her eyes closing for just a moment. "It's so good," she says, her voice muffled slightly by the treat. She turns her head to look at Mac, holding the s'more out. "Want a bite?"

He smiles, shaking his head. "No, thanks. You seem to be enjoying that one so I'll just get in on the next one."

"The next one is going to be one that you make yourself," she tells him, taking another bite. "With my help, of course."

It's quiet for a moment, save for the crackling of the fire and the ambient noises of nightlife in Los Angeles. It's quiet and peaceful and perfect. Just being here like this with Mac is perfect.

"Hey, Riles?"

She glances at him as she takes another bite. "Yeah?"

He shifts in his spot, his brows furrowing slightly together. "Uh, would it be too early in our relationship for me to ask you if you've ever thought about the future?"

Riley sets her s'more down on its plate and then turns to face Mac. "Well, that depends. What exactly are we talking about in regards to the future?"

He shrugs. "I don't know, not really. I just...us pretending to be newlyweds on the op got me thinking. Is that something you'd want eventually? To get married, maybe start a family?"

She lets out a heavy breath. "When I was with Billy, we had started talking about the future at one point, but obviously, that completely crashed and burned. And if I'm being honest, that put me off it for a while."

"And what about now? Do you still have an aversion to it?"

"No, I don't," she answers without hesitation. She scoots closer until their thighs are touching and then reaches out to grab one of his hands, lacing their fingers together and resting them on top of their legs. "Because when I'm with you, I know I'm safe, I know I'm protected, and I know you'll never hurt me. You've proven that to me time and time again, Mac, so I know that a future with you will be an amazing thing."

"So you're open to the possibility, then?" he asks curiously.

She smiles and nods. "Yes, I am. What about you? Are you open to the possibility?"

"One hundred percent," he says with a nod. "I want everything with you, Riley. I've always known that if I were somehow lucky enough to get to be with you, that I'd never be lacking in love. And that I'd forever be the happiest man on the face of the earth. Because I am falling in love with you, Riley Davis, and I have been since the day we met." He's smiling wide, tears in his eyes that she knows she's matching. "It is the easiest thing I have ever done. I don't ever want to go back to a time where you weren't in my life, because you make it infinitely better, and I want you around forever. If you'll have me."

Riley leans forward to kiss him slowly, her free hand coming up to cup his cheek as she smiles softly at him. "I would love nothing more. Because I'm falling in love with you too, Angus MacGyver, and it's as easy as breathing. Even before we were together, I loved being around you and talking to you, and that feeling has only grown since we started dating. One of the best decisions I have ever made was saying yes when you asked me out. I don't even want to think about where we'd be if I hadn't."

Mac smiles, shaking his head. "Neither do I. Because this, right here, this is perfect. But there's only one thing that could make it even better."

"Oh yeah? And what would that be?"

"You teaching me how to make the perfect s'more."

Riley laughs, slowly nodding and leaning back. "Alright, I did say I would do that. Go grab yourself a marshmallow and let the master show you how it's done."

Mac presses a kiss to her cheek and then jumps up to move across the deck to the supplies he'd set out. He's quick to grab what he needs and then returns to her side, sitting down and setting his plate on his other side.

As he prepares his marshmallow, telling her about all the various ways he's tried and epically failed to roast marshmallows in the past, Riley can't help but smile lovingly at him. If the present with Mac feels this damn good after only a couple of months of dating, then she can't wait to see what the future feels like.

So? What did you think? Let me know in a review down below. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

When I was originally starting this chapter, I had completely forgotten had the actual episode ended, and when I went back to look, I decided to just keep ignoring it for the sake of this story. Because obviously what I wrote didn't exactly work very well with the canon ending. So we'll just say that the episode's ending happens a little later. :)
