"He's right, you know." Deeks called out to them from his and Kensi's spot on the couch near the bullpen, having heard every word Sam said. "Especially about varying your routine." He said as he and Kensi stood and made their way over to the pair.
"I screwed that up as a newbie here and caught two bullets as a result. A couple of guys from a previous case were trying to get to Kensi, but they could never pin her down. Me, however? I was an easy target. They got me one morning as I stopped at a convenience store near my house like I would every day." Kensi gave a reassuring squeeze to Deeks' arm. "They knew they could draw Kensi out and snatch her at the hospital. We were lucky we figured it out before they could get her. We were even more lucky that Sam is so security conscious and left me a gun in the hospital so I was able to take the guys who were trying to take Kensi out."
"Wow." Was all Rountree could say.
"Yea, like I said, lucky. Kensi's first partner?" Deeks looked tentatively over at Kensi. "Wasn't that lucky. "
