Viking thoughts

``Dragon speech``

Dragon thoughts

Enjoy!

Hiccup Haddok III slowly cracked open his eyes. He felt a strong throb in his temple, and winced. He propped himself up on his elbow, and looked around the room. His room. With a big, hairy Hooligan in it.

His father was lounged in a chair he brought in. His face seemed tired, yet he was tense as a bowstring. The chief, for once, didn't snore, as if he was in a light sleep.

Hiccup winced again as he sat up straight, a terrible itch on his back, head and tail bone. He sighed and looked up at his father again.

Only to see him staring back.

Stoick the Vast had been worried about his son the moment he caught sight of him falling of his scaly mount's back.

Infact, worried was an understatement.

He remembers seeing Toothless curled protectively around an unconscious Hiccup.

He remembers them visiting the village elder, Gothi.

He spent the last few days thinking about how he should break the news to his son.

If he ever woke up that is.

And now, he was sat up in his bed, watching him with a curious, somewhat confused, expression.

``Son, I was so worried! I'm glad you're awake.`` He said, unsure how to express the flood of relief upon seeing his child, awake.

``Me too Dad.`` Hiccup said in a hoarse voice.

Stoick instantly handed him a cup of water.

``Thanks.`` He drank it all. ``That feels better.``

``How do you feel?`` He asked.

``Sore.`` Hiccup admitted. ``And a bit itchy.``

He went to scratch his neck, but froze.

Hiccup went to scratch his neck, but froze as something leathery collided with his arm, making an unknown part of him feel ticklish. It's probably just my imagination, he thought. He turned his head as far as it could go, seeing a big, black, leathery limb stick out of his back. Infact, two big, black leathery limbs.

His breathing hitched, and he slowly turned his head back towards his father, who was wearing a solemn expression.

``What-`` Hiccup trailed off.

``It was a curse, Hiccup. I- The person that was responsible for it is now in the dungeons, but she says the curse cannot be broken...`` Stoick was rambling now.

``So it isn't one of the twin's jokes?`` Stoick shook his head.

``Dad, I'm pretty sure that I'm more terrified than you.`` Hiccup deadpanned, seeing his father for once in a long while going silent.

Stoick nodded.

There was a moment of silence before either of them spoke.

``Anything else, that's changed?`` Hiccup asked, a hint of that usual sarcasm.

``Well, you could say that. But I think you should figure that out on your own.``

A limb he didn't even know he had swayed, like a dog wagging its tail. He sucked in a breath.

He pulled the sheets off to examine himself.

``At leats the other leg is still intact.`` Hiccup breathed.

Stoick immediately noiced that his son was hyperventilating.

``Hiccup, whatever you're going through, I'm going to be with you, every step of the way.`` A vow, a solid promise from his chief and father.

Hiccup nodded, before standing up off his bed.

Unfortunately, he fell right on his rump as he hadn't adjusted to the new weight.

Stoick immediately rushed towards him, but Hiccup quickly said,

``I'm alright dad.``

Stoick nodded, as he watched Hiccup get up again, only to sway and nearly fall again, but he quickly caught his balance. He walked over to the mirror he had bought from Johann a few years back, just beside his wardrobe.

Hiccup looked at himself, taking in the details.

He had large, black scaly wings attached to his back, just smaller than Toothless' (About 47 feet). He had a long, black tail with two tail fins, also much like Toothless' except he had both tail fins, and was approximately 1.5 meters.(*) He had normal nails, except they were a bit longer and sharper. He raised his hand to his face where he discovered four ear flaps on top of his head (One set larger). His eyes matched those of a human, although the pupils resembled ones of a dragon.

He just stood there, staring at the mirror. Stoick stood behind him, ready to engage if his son need it.

``How-How long was I out?`` Hiccup asked, trying to distract himself from all those thoughts swirling in his head like a tornado.

``Four days.`` Stoick looked down.

``Does the village know?`` He asked, not tearing his gaze from the mirror.

``Unfortunately, yes.``

Hiccup sighed.

``I think I'm going to have to think this-`` He was cut off when a large black shape arupted through the door, pinning him to the ground.

Before it drowned Hiccup in saliva.

``Eew, Toothless. That's gross, you know it doesn't was off.``

``I know I know, I'm just so glad to see you!`` An unknown voice spoke, and Hiccup froze.

He scanned the room for the source of the voice, but found no one.

``Toothless?`` He asked.

``Yeah?`` Came the answer.

Hiccup paled.

``What is it?``

``What is it?`` His father and dragon spoke at the same time.

``I-I can understand you Toothless.`` He said, eyes wide.

``You can?`` His dragon stopped his attempt to drown Hiccup and stepped back.

``Yes, Toothless.``

``Then we do a test. If you can understand me, then what did you shoot me down with the night we met?`` His dragon inquired.

``The bola launcher.`` Hiccup answered, still on the floor.

Toothless gaped at him, and then looked at Stoick.

``What have I gotten into now?`` Muttered Hiccup, the room completely silent.

A/N: Thanks for reading! I will be glad if you point out any mistakes, and I'll gladly answer some question, and maybe take some advise.
