It was a couple days later and the one five-year-old remaining had, had enough of her punishment! It wasn't fair that everyone else got to play and have fun, while she was stuck doing flips and extra practice. She felt it especially unfair that the sisters, who had followed her, were no longer in trouble and allowed to play. "I'll show them I's a good ninja…."
Glancing around to ensure no one was paying her any mind, she quickly and quietly headed for the door to the lair. Her sisters were all occupied with their games and television show and her brothers were out on a training run, so this ought to be pretty easy. Giving a little giggle once she had made it out the door, she hurried down the tunnel, staying in the shadows.
Danceingfae had noticed her baby sister's sneakiness, and had decided to follow her, to see just where she was going. She knew the younger one was grounded and not supposed to be out of her room, so she was curious as to just what she was up to. "Lenni? Where are you going?"
Lenni froze, hearing a voice call her. Well dang. She hadn't been as sneaky as she thought. "Nowhere…"
"Come back inside, before Sensei catches you," Danceingfae told her. "You don't wanna get in more trouble, do you?"
"He's not gonna catch me this time!"
"That's what you said last time."
"I am gonna prove I's a good ninja!"
The older girl thought for a long moment. If her sister was only practicing, what harm could it do? "Then let me come with you."
Lenni's face brightened then. "Okay! You can come!"
Danceingfae followed her sister, wondering just where they were going. "How you gonna prove you're a good ninja?"
"I'm gonna goes topside!" Lenni declared. "That's what good ninjas do!"
Scrunching her face up a moment in thought, the older one replied, "I don't think that's what good ninjas do…"
"Master Splinter goes topside an' the guys go, an' they're the best ninjas out there…"
Her sister did have a point there. "Okay….but how are you gonna get up there?"
"Follow me," Lenni answered confidently. "I's know where to go."
Shrugging, Danceingfae followed her younger sister, eager to see just what her plan was. She was surprised when Lenni suddenly halted under a manhole cover and pointed upwards.
"They likes to leave this one open…"
"Why would they leave it open; who leaves it open?"
Lenni shrugged. "I's dunno the answer to everything. That's Donnie's job."
Watching as her sister climbed up the ladder, the older one followed, deciding it was better than leaving the younger one alone completely. She knew her sister would find a way, whether she was there with her or not.
Reaching the top, the two of them pushed with all their might to move the lid open a little further, so they could squeeze out. Once they had managed that, they quickly darted into the shadows, giggling a little at their ninja games.
Lenni slid along the wall, then flipped over to the next spot she wished to be in. "This is fun, Fae!"
Danceingfae cartwheeled over next to her. "Yeah, it kinda is!"
The two of them raced around in the alleyway, eventually sneaking over a couple blocks away, being careful not to be seen. Granted, it was dark out and they knew enough to stay in the shadows as best they could, despite their age.
"Look! A slide!" Lenni exclaimed excitedly, forgetting stealth, and running for the playground before her.
"Lenni!" Danceingfae squeaked, hurrying after her. "We're supposed to be ninja!"
Lenni waved her off, as she eagerly climbed up the play structure. "I can't believe nobody told us this was here! C'mon! Let's play!"
Giving in, the older turtle girl scurried after her sister, chasing her around on the playground equipment, their peals of laughter ringing out into the night. Little did they know, that danger lurked nearby….
Lenni was having a blast running around on the equipment with her sister; she had always wanted a slide! She was about to tell her sister this, when she suddenly ran smack dab into something. Looking up, her eyes went wide as she saw a tall, dark figure dressed all in black with a red foot symbol on his chest. "Um….Fae?"
Danceingfae halted before she crashed into her sister. "Uh-oh…. I think they're the bad ninja…"
"Look what we have here, a couple little freaks," a tall, muscular man with blonde hair spoke as he stepped forward. "I bet they know where those other turtle freaks are."
"I's not a freak!" Lenni shouted, kicking the man in the shin. "I's a ninja!"
Hun looked down, unfazed by the kick, chuckling. "Look, the pipsqueak thinks it's a ninja…Master Shredder is gonna love this."
Danceingfae looked worried as they were cornered and there was no chance of escape. "I think we're in trouble…."
Lenni swung fiercely at the big man, who picked her up by the scruff of her neck. "Put me down!"
"Let's go…. I know a way to get them talking," Hun told the Foot soldiers as he turned and carried the littlest turtle off; the other one being grabbed by someone else.
Soon they stood upon a rooftop, Danceingfae being held back by a couple Foot soldiers, and Hun was still holding tight to the squirming turtle tot. "Tell me where your lair is, or she's going to learn how to fly."
"NO!" Danceingfae exclaimed, struggling to get away. "I told you, we don't know the way!"
Lenni managed to break free, dropping to the rooftop hard, though she scrambled to get up, despite her sudden tears. "Leave us alone!"
