9:00 AM, Day 5

"Rise and shine, everybody!" Sonya said, rousing Viktor from his sleep.

"What time is it?" Viktor said, groggily rubbing his eyes.

"You think I know?"

"Ugh, good point… Presumably you're going to try and get them to do something?"

"Yes." Sonya said, looking around.

"Alright, everybody. Today, we're going to collect and organize our supplies, okay?" Sonya said, walking in front of the other students.

"Could you stop trying to order us around?" Vika said, crossing her arms.

"Then leave."

"And what if we don't?"

"Vika, just listen for once, alright? They're trying to help." Anna said, walking in between the two groups.

"Can't we just leave, Anna?"

"A partnership would be more helpful."

"But that's only if they cooperate."

"They will. I trust them."

"For what reason?"

"For what reason did you trust me at first?"

"Fine…" Vika said, halfheartedly starting to try and organize their supplies.

"This isn't going to end well…" Viktor thought. Sadly, he was soon proven to be right.

5:30, Day 7

"Alright, let's try this again. Let's distribute the food evenly, alright?" Viktor said, walking over to where the students were clustered around Gummy's cooking equipment.

"Shut up. We all know all you want is more for yourselves, noble." Vika angrily said, still distrustful towards Viktor.

"All I want is for everybody to split the food equally."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah… I totally believe you."

"Can you give me a chance, at least once?"

"No."

"Viktor, stop trying to do it peacefully." Sonya said, walking over.

"Everybody, organize yourselves or I kill you." Sonya said, the majority shrinking away, leaving Vika standing alone.

"They have nothing over us! We have ten people, and they only have two!" Vika said, drawing a knife and rushing forwards.

"Vika, calm down! You cannot win!" Anna said, standing in between the two groups.

"Shut up!" Vika pushed her to the side, charging at Sonya.

"KILL THE NOBLE!" The other students chanted, also charging forwards.

"Last chance." Viktor said, pointing his staff at Vika as she stopped in front of him.

"You will and always will be a useless leech, Viktor." Vika said, swinging her knife at him.

"Fine. If necessary…" Viktor swung his staff at Vika, knocking the knife out of her hands.

"Now that's more like it! URA!" Sonya said, charging into battle against the rest of the students, leaving Viktor to face off against Vika. Vika directly attempted to punch Viktor, Viktor hitting her arm with his staff and deflecting the punch, before starting a rapid series of swings towards her. Vika dodged the first, and the second… On the third swing, though, she backed into a chair, tripping over and getting a direct hit to the stomach while falling in midair, flying backwards a good few meters before slumping on the ground. Viktor walked off and joined the main fight.

Sonya was obviously winning; there were only five conscious students left, and she looked to be barely breaking a sweat.

"What are you waiting for, cowards!" Sonya took another down with a single punch, before advancing on another and striking towards him.

"Sonya, stop." Viktor said, extending his staff and blocking her punch. "Surrender, the rest of you, and you may still have a chance. I am not unmerciful."

"Viktor, you are far too merciful." The laugh of one that had nothing left entered Viktor's ears. "When the time comes, can you kill me?" A knife flew out of nowhere, flying straight for Viktor's head.

"Ugh!" Viktor blocked it with a quick swing of his staff, the knife going off-course… but still slicing a shallow cut in his chin before clattering onto the ground. "No matter how merciful I am, I will still choose your death over mine." Viktor slowly advanced towards Vika like an incoming storm.

"So die, then." A single drop of blood rolled down his chin.

"Die." Viktor started attacking with a savagery that Sonya had never seen before, his swings creating audible whizzes as they flew past. Vika hit back with the strongest punch she could muster, the fist soundly impacting against Viktor's skin. Viktor, though, completely ignored the punch, his body now powered only by adrenaline.

"Die." Viktor jabbed at Vika, sending her stumbling backwards into the wall. Vika dodged his next jab, jumping to his right and counterattacking with another futile punch.

"Die." Viktor swung his staff again, sending Vika flying against a wall. He slowly advanced, readying the final blow.

"Ugh…" Vika tried to roll to the side, but her efforts were futile. Viktor raised his staff, slowly bringing it down on her…

"DIE!" Vika's skull was shattered, Viktor's steel staff easily winning against human flesh and bone. The cloud of adrenaline around Viktor's mind cleared with the death of his final enemy, and he finally realized what he had just done, looking down to see the dead eyes of Vika staring up at him.

"What have I done?" Viktor's legs gave way under him, Viktor falling down alongside Vika.

"That's the fifth group I failed to save, isn't it?"

"This group was killed by Zima in the lore. What difference does it make if they died by my hand instead?" Viktor thought, starting to feel tears rolling down his face.

"What difference does it make?"

"Am I but a different executioner?"

"What am I here for, then?"

"Am I worthless?"

"Viktor, stop being emotional. We can be emotional once this is all over." Sonya's voice broke his chain of thought, Sonya walking over and extending a hand to help him up.

"Good point. We still have a lot of bodies to drag off and a lot of food to split."

"You see?" Sonya said, walking off and starting to split the food.

"So I get the job of dragging the bodies? Ugh…" Viktor mumbled, trying to hold back his nausea as he dragged the bloody bodies of the dead students outside.

Was he just a mere killing machine now?
