"It's time," Talon shouted as he hurried through the Labyrinth clan's personal rooms.
Claw and Maggie got to their feet and hurried to follow their leader.
They had been alerted by the gargoyles that this may happen, and for the last few days, they'd been ready to go at a moment's notice.
Not bothering to wait for the cargo elevator, they hurried through the tunnels with the ease and practice from years of experience. With their heightened sight in darkness (thank you feline genes), they were able to navigate in near total darkness. Hurrying to a ladder that would take them to the surface and opened up in an alleyway, the small labyrinth clan shoved the manhole cover out of the way and began the climb that would take them upwards.
Once they were airborne, and he had time to think, Talon had the time to worry. He hadn't agreed with everyone plotting and planning around Elisa… he didn't even know how much Elisa knew about all that had been worked out among the different groups… but he didn't argue. His sister was in trouble, so he would do what needed to be done to help her.
Talon was just thankful that they gave the Labyrinth clan a heads up to be ready.
Able to navigate the storm a little better than the gargoyles (thank you bat genes), their travel time was significantly shortened. While their wings didn't allow them to fly from a standing position on the ground, it allowed them a little more maneuverability in the air.
As they approached, Talon watched in a stunned sense of fascination as the gargoyles came in too fast and one by one, skidded, stumbled and fell into a wall in the courtyard. Cringing in sympathy, he turned his attention to what they'd been fleeing from.
He saw the black hazy figure and pointed it out to the other two, calling their attention to it without using a sound that could carry and give away their positions.
As the figure came in for a far more graceful landing in the courtyard, there was a hiss and hum as the hidden garage-style doors slid open and an impressive number of the steel clan came out to target their enemy.
"Oh, good," Talon said, rolling his shoulders to loosen them up. He balled up his fists and called up the electrical charge he could use (thank you eel genes), and prepared to aim it at the figure. "They didn't start without us this time. Flank it," he called above the howling wind, "and keep it busy so that the clan can recover and join in the fun!"
Claw looked at Maggie, gave an exaggerated eye roll that had her nodding in agreement, and the two of them split off so that they'd be coming at the thing… whatever it was they were fighting this time… from different sides.
The night silence and the dark was split by the sudden blur of laser fire as the Steel Clan zeroed in on their target.
With that, the battle was on.
