"Put him here," Violet called to the Steel Clan robot, unsure if this one was being "manned" by the techies or working autonomously. Either way, the robot turned towards her voice and carried an injured Brooklyn to the cot she was indicating.
Violet helped to guide Brooklyn's body to the cot and hurried to do an assessment.
"Brooklyn?" A voice from across the room called and Violet mentally swore. It was hard enough doing all of this when they were friends and borderline family. They were worn thin as it was, and she had a feeling that they were about to lose Skyler to concern and fear over her mate's welfare.
"He's alive," Violet called. 'Barely,' she thought to herself. More and more were coming in injured, with increasingly more extensive injuries. She knew they'd heal over the day, but sunrise was so far off, and still the fighting continued. Losing the robots was one thing… but if they lost the gargoyles and the mutates, they were in trouble.
"Incoming," Doctor James called, and Violet turned and caught sight of Broadway being helped inside.
Violet closed her eyes. 'Focus,' she chanted. 'Focus, focus, f….forget this."
Violet got to her feet and grabbed her small, hard shelled case that she'd stored in the corner in case of emergency.
'Well, this is an emergency,' she thought. Reaching in, she removed all but one of the prepared syringes with the experimental drug that had been made with the regenerative properties from Nayeli's unique blood.
Moving swiftly, she moved across the room to where Talon was just starting to wake. He'd been down a while, in and out of wakefulness with an obviously dislocated shoulder that had required them to adjust it back into place and concerns of a head injury.
Violet grabbed the first syringe, gripped the plastic protective covering over the needle in her teeth and with a jerk, pulled it free. She was about to inject the contents when a hand clamped over her wrist.
"Violet!" Dominik Vaussier looked at her, eyes wide. "What are you doing? We haven't been approved for testing yet!"
"I've seen how this affects them," Violet insisted. "It won't do much for the human woman right now," she said, gesturing to where Mallory lay with a heart monitor recording her stats, "but it will help heal the others quickly, so they can get back out there. Trust me," she said emphatically.
The hand loosened, and with only the slightest of hesitations, he nodded.
Violet gave him a brief nod of her own, then injected one of the seven syringes into Talon's arm.
One by one, she moved down the line, and by the time she'd finished, the first few were already back on their feet.
Maybe they weren't steady, per se, but they were able to move.
She'd just finished giving Hudson the last of the doses in her pocket when there was a roar, a crash, and the sound of screeching metal from outside.
Those who were back on their feet hurried outside while the caregivers inside stared helplessly at the doors. Demona and Skyler had worked to be-spell the doorframe the night before so that only those seeking to help or were injured and needed help could cross, while Puck had magically protected the rest of the castle. Because of their combined efforts, the safest place for them to be was inside the great hall.
Sharing a weary glance, the healer team moved to stand together and wait.
From behind them a brilliant green light flashed and they all turned to stare in surprise…
"Now what?" Danika Vaussier sighed wearily.
As the first figure came through, Nayeli gasped and pushed through the crowd.
She ran to embrace the winged female and cried, "It's Help! More help has arrived!"
