The meeting with Father Sato went smoothly enough. As the priest drove the Warrens and Drew to the Saeki house, he said "It is said that if a person dies in a grip of rage a curse is brought about, wreaking havoc in the area of its occurrence. Whether there is any shred of truth to this in the case of the Saeki murders I cannot say. But I must urge that, should this house be haunted, the spirits be put to rest as soon as possible,"
"Because of the deaths and disappearances of anyone who's entered the house?" Drew inquired.
"Precisely. There is no evidence to conclude if this is tied to the house, but the names and numbers of the people who have entered the premises and have met their end shortly thereafter do not lie,"
As Father Sato parked outside the former Saeki residence, he pulled a set of house keys from his pocket. "The authorities know we are visiting the premises today," he said as he exited the car and lifted the caution tape. "Though I'm afraid informing them is a mere formality at this point. Cameras were installed outside the premises after the first few deaths connected with the house, though all seemed to have malfunctioned shortly after. I am sure the number of break ins- and, as a result, deaths- are higher than that on record,"
"You said we are the only four who are authorized to visit the house this afternoon?" Lorraine asked.
"That's correct,"
Lorraine nodded, following Father Sato as she looked away from the dark-haired figure standing in the window.

The dark presence in the house was almost overpowering. Lorraine knew they were not prepared to release the spirits yet, but she didn't need any physical evidence to know that something was terribly, terribly wrong.
"It's almost as if the souls of the departed have been frozen in ice," Lorraine told Ed as Drew set up the cameras. "They are trapped in this realm, and the evil left over from the murders propels their spirits forward,"
"I may not be clairvoyant," Ed replied, "But even I can tell there's something very wrong with this place,"
A meow from the doorway disrupted their conversation. Giving a slight start, the Warrens saw a black cat cross the hallway.
"Guess this place has been empty so long even the animals have taken over," Ed added, trying to lighten the tension.
"I…I don't think that was a cat," Lorraine said, recalling the family photograph that Father Gordon had shown them. "Not a living one, anyway,"
"Cameras are good to go," Drew said as he entered the kitchen from behind, causing both of them to jump.
"Did you happen to see a cat walk by a moment ago?" Ed asked. Drew shook his head no. "Well," Ed decided, "I guess we're off to an eventful start,"
