A/n I am just re arranging the story and making some edits so it reads smoother.

Eddie's long finger paused above the accept button on his phone. He took a deep breathe and then clicked, his fate of knowing if it was Buck or it wasn't sealed. "Eddie?" Maddie voice was fast and alarmingly like she was about to cry.

"Maddie? What happened? Are You okay?" Breathe Eddie. Breathe. Maybe Buck is fine. Even Eddie knew his thoughts sounded weak.

"Eddie. Its Buck. T-The accident your go-going to. Its Evan." Her voice broke and her words conveyed how much her world was crashing down onto her. "I-I ca-cant lose him Eddie…No-Not again. Please." Eddie didn't know what to say. No, he knew he should comfort Maddie tell her it was going to be okay, but was it?

"How do you know it was him?" Maddie sniffled through the phone and spoke sounding a bit stronger.

"He called and we were talking on my break. Then I heard him yell and there were screeching tires, and this heart-rending crash." She was definitely crying now and Eddie felt like his own salty tears were going to spill over his cheeks any moment as well.

"Maybe he isn't too badly hurt? Maybe it was someone in front of him and he's fine." Eddie felt like he was clinging to false hope, but he wasn't going to give up. He couldn't. How could he give up on his brother who never gave up on him, ever?

"You think so? I tried calling him back, but he isn't answering." Her voice was hopeful, and Eddie didn't know whether to feel happy that she was hopeful too or to feel bad because it could be false hope.

"We're about 30 minutes out from the accident. I'm going to hang up on you and I'll keep calling him, okay? Maybe he's unconscious and just needs his best friend un-relentlessly calling him to wake up. Okay Maddie? You good?" He kept his voice smooth, even, and portraying confidence he no longer felt he possessed. Your okay Buck. You gotta be Evan.

"Okay, Thank you Eddie. Call me as soon as you get there, okay?" Eddie promised, said goodbye, and hung up. He scrolled to his contacts and the first contact to pop up with a yellow star to indicate a favorite contact was Buck's. The profile pic was one taken at a sunny day by the pond in the park. It showed Eddie, Chris, and Buck's faces turned towards the camera all smiling brightly.

Buck was holding Christopher up who had a giant smile on his face and Eddie had his arm slung across Buck's shoulders grinning like he was the luckiest man alive. And he slowly realizing that he was. He had a son who was his entire world and loved to death. He also had a best friend who stuck with him through anything.

Don't leave me too Buck. Please. Tapping the call icon Eddie breathed shallowly, putting the phone up against his ear and the call started ringing.

Ring…

Ring…

Ring…

"Hi."

Eddie's breathe caught in his throat and his heart pulled painfully against his tight chest.

"You've reached Buck! I'm probably on a call, cause I'm a firefighter, you know! Or maybe you don't know… Hmmmm. Anyway! so I'll call you back later! By!"

"Eddie? Eddie what's wrong?" Bobby's worried voice roused Eddie who hit the end call button and as a tear slowly, silently, and secretly leaked out said.

"Buck's in trouble."
