Buck slept well during the night, Eddie learned from the nurse, and for that he was happy. He had been there about an hour and half so it was 8:00 when he heard a stir coming from the bed. He scooted closer and when Buck's baby blue eyes slowly cracked open he smiled.

"Well, hello there sunshine. Carla came early, so this is my free day, so I'm gonna be with you all day." Buck's grin widened incredibly and Eddie's heart soared when though hoarse Buck said.

"Glad you're here Edds. I would have been lonely without you." Eddie grinned back and yet he felt sorrow build in his heart because Buck was a truly social animal and he would have been absolutely miserable left all by himself. Shaking his head to get out of the funk he got up and helped Buck sit up using the bed's remote to incline the back to a sitting position.

"So, what do you want to do? I talked to the doc on the way in and he said that probably later on today they'll be able to do the tests that they need to do. We have a couple of hours to kill, so you want to play cards? watch tv?" Buck just shrugged his shoulders and mumbled.

"I don't really feel good. Maybe you could tell me about your shift the other day? Get any crazy calls?" Eddie grinned and proceeded to tell Buck about a lady who called 9-1-1 because there was a spider in her bathtub, except it was a tarantula. In no time Buck was laughing and when breakfast came Buck let Eddie have his jello then proceeded to eat a half piece of toast before pushing the tray away.

"Evan, you barely ate anything. Are you not hungry or something?" Buck shook his head and it was only thanks to Eddie's quick reflexes that got the emesin bowl under Buck's mouth before he threw up. He called the nurse who helped clean Buck up once he stopped. She also gave him some anti-nausea medicine that thankfully got to work an hour later.

Noon rolled around and Buck was wheeled off for a battery of tests leaving Eddie to wait alone in the previously occupied hospital room.

They rolled Buck back in 2 hours later and he was fast asleep. The doctor came in after the nurses left and after going over Buck one last time turned to Eddie.

"We need to talk, Mr. Diaz."
