Chapter 6
-XXX-
'Am I dead?'
This question raced through Sakura's mind as she slowly opened her tired eyelids. That nasty headache is not really the best wake up call.
'What happened?' Opening her eyes was no easy task considering the bright light stabbing her eyes. She's probably in a room with the lights on.
Sakura had to cover her eyes before she could adjust to the very intense light. As she did so, looking up at the ceiling and around her, one thing was clear. She didn't recognize this room.
'Where am I?' This was the question that had her full attention. Why isn't she in her room? And where is her dad? Wait, her dad... She was supposed to be moving into her relatives' house, right?
That's when it clicked for her. "Vampires!" She screamed, sitting up abruptly on the bed she'd been lying comfortably in until now.
"My head..." The searing pain at her temples was unpleasant. Sakura clutched her head and though reluctantly, and the events she last remembered, came to the surface. The events she remembered were not pretty. She had found out that vampires existed, and on top of that, she had found her father's diary, which claimed that Kizashi wasn't her real father.
Now that Sakura was sitting on the bed, she had a much better view of the room she was in. Judging by the pink and purple color of the furniture, the sheets on the bed, and the accessories, she was in a girl's bed. Strange, considering this house is full of boys.
"Those guys!" A moment of horror filled her as she remembered that just before passing out, Naruto and Konohamaru had tried to bite her. Actually, drink from her. Or at least that's what she thought they were going for. Vampires drink human blood, don't they? They didn't seem to want to kill her, but Sakura remembers the part where she's never allowed to leave this mansion because she's some sort of "bride". None of this makes any sense at all.
She did not hesitate for a moment and immediately tried to feel the fang marks on her neck with her fingers. "Thank goodness, I haven't been bitten."
A sense of relief ran through her entire body and her hands, calmer now, slowly lowered into her lap. Wait! Something's not right...
"I don't remember changing!" Only now did Sakura notice that the clothes she was wearing before were gone. With the speed of light, she pulled the covers off of herself. Her favorite blue sweatshirt, pants, t-shirt, and shoes were gone.
"How did this happen?!" Her only clothing now was a white nightgown with a pink bow at the waist below her breasts. Sakura looked under her nightgown in alarm. 'Well, at least my underwear stayed on.'
"What's the meaning of this?" She asked herself.
The photo and words from that diary she had found suddenly flashed before her eyes. "What is this all about, dad?" She pulled her knees to her chest, which she hugged. "Please come here soon!" She tried to be strong, but tears were welling up in her eyes.
"Crying won't help you, Sakura-chan." Before she knew it, Naruto was sitting on the bed in front of her.
"You look pretty sexy in a negligee." He pointed to her new outfit, which she had no idea who put on her. "And you give off such a delicious aroma." Naruto began to sway from side to side in his seat with a pleasing smile.
'Is he blushing?' Sakura instinctively pulled her blanket up to her chin to prevent Naruto from seeing anything. Yes, she's aware that there's not much to see on her body, but she's still a woman.
"Are you trying to come on to me, Sakura-chan?" Naruto scratched his cheek nervously.
"Don't say such stupid things! You... You… baka!" She scolded Naruto firmly. Saying such things to someone he's only known for a day is stupid. 'Was he trying to flirt with me or something?'
"Both of you! You'll be late." Came from the direction of the door.
"Shit… Come on, Neji. I was having fun." Naruto groaned in displeasure.
"You also need to get changed." Neji walked over to the bed where she and Naruto were sitting. In his hand he held a school uniform, probably a girl's uniform judging by the skirt. 'Is that for me?'
"Changed? Are we going somewhere?" She asked, looking down at the uniform in his arms.
"Isn't it obvious? We're going to school." Was the answer she got, which to Neji was proof that this mortal was really stupid.
"School? So late?" Sakura looked out the window, where it was completely dark. It must be after midnight. What kind of school holds classes at night?
"How obtuse can you be?" Neji's eyebrows quirked in slight annoyance. Sometimes he wondered why he had to explain these things at all. He was already guiding 5 rude boys, and now this dense human? "Do you need every little thing spelled out for you?"
"You're going to night school with us, Sakura-chan." Naruto entered the conversation. 'Has he sat this close to me before?' Sakura wondered as she glanced at Naruto.
"But it's so late to go to school." Sakura was still uncomprehendingly insisting. She'd never heard of night classes in her life, let alone having to attend them.
"We cannot have you being active in the daytime just because you have the common sense of a mortal. As long as you reside in a mansion run by the Ōtsutsuki Clan, you must adjust to our lifestyle." Neji explained in irritation.
'The Ōtsutsuki Clan? I've never heard of them in my life. Is it some kind of wealthy family? But I don't think these guys are siblings. They don't look a bit alike...' Sakura tried to picture in her mind what all six of her new captors looked like, and none of them had similar features. Could the Ōtsutsuki Clan have anything to do with them all being vampires?
"But..." Sakura didn't know what to say. She had a lot of questions on her mind. Would she live with them now? Would she go to school with them? For how long? So she's not here to be their dessert after dinner? What about her father? Is he coming? Can she call him? And other questions she's not sure she can answer without someone else's help.
"You're going to the same school we go to. The school for night creatures, if you like." Neji is looking forward to leaving this room. Explaining everything in detail is exhausting.
"But my father has already registered me to the school. A normal school..." Sakura remembered her last conversation with her , her father had told her that he had already chosen a school for her to attend for the time being until her father returned from Europe.
"I've already arranged everything." Neji replied, no need to explain in more words.
"That's selfish, how could you?" 'How could he? Shannaro!'
"Do you really think it's okay for someone who isn't even related to me to do that? What's more, without consulting me..." Sakura was confused and angry at the same time by Neji's audacity. Even though Sakura has her own feelings and opinions. Of course, to these people, Sakura is probably just a little ant that can meet an unpleasant death anytime and also anywhere in this house.
"Getting your permission is pointless, besides it would be a waste of time." Neji's words left no room for complaints or possible whining.
"What?" Sakura asked, eager for some more details.
"As long as you live here, we're basically your family, right?" Naruto smiled at Sakura, who was currently puzzled by the word 'family'.
"Besides, you're the one who's settling into this mansion. In that case, you have to follow our rules." Neji put her uniform on the bed and made his way to the door.
"One more thing…" Neji looked back at Sakura. "Don't try to make contact with your old friends, understand? I don't want to solve any more problems that might arise because of this."
'Gaara smashed my cell phone to pieces, so I doubt I could contact them even if I wanted to.'
"If you have a complaint, you are welcome to leave at any time." Neji added as he reached for the doorknob and pushed the door open so he could step out into the hallway.
'What?! What's with this guy?! They threatened to kill me if I ran away. They even chased me around this house!'
"But you said if I try to escape, I'm dead." Sakura remarked softly, her chin resting on the blanket she was still covering herself with.
Neji immediately stopped in his tracks and turned his head slightly to get a better view of the insolent girl. "Did you say something?" His gaze gave no indication that he was amused by Sakura's words.
"N... No!"
"Then hurry up and change into the school uniform I put on your bed. No further explanation is necessary. Hurry up and get ready before heading towards the lobby. The limousine will depart in ten minutes." He finished and disappeared into the corridor with a vigorous slam of the door.
"Sakura-chan, is something wrong?" Sakura's worried face surprised Naruto.
"I've been going to a normal school this whole time so... Going to school during the night would be a little strange." Sakura said honestly. Naruto, who doesn't give in to his vampire instincts and without his dark side that Sakura had seen before, gives the impression of a nice and kind hyperactive boy. That's perhaps why Sakura has no problem with telling him her feelings honestly.
"Ah... about that... Don't worry at all, Sakura-chan!" Naruto beamed with positive energy. "It's kind of fun at our school. And most importantly, I'll be there!" His wide and dazzling smile nearly blinded Sakura, but for a small moment she found the friendly atmosphere reassuring.
"You'll forget your old lifestyle soon enough. Then you'll be able to devote both your heart and body to me..." The blonde vampire chuckled, and Sakura was stunned beyond words.
'I take back everything I thought a moment ago...'
"Well then, we'll be late if you don't hurry up. Change into this." Naruto nodded his head towards the uniform Neji had left on the bed for Sakura.
"Come on, quickly." Naruto urged the embarrassed girl, who was still covered from head to toe with the warm blanket.
"But... I can't change while you're still here, Naruto." Sakura observed a little shyly and Naruto was obviously surprised by the answer. He is so used to living with boys that he suddenly didn't even think that Sakura would want to change in private.
"Ah! No need to worry about me, Sakura-chan! At the very least, I don't mind at all..." Naruto scratched his cheek with a smirk, the joy evident in his eyes.
"Even if you don't, I clearly do! So get out, Naruto!" Sakura firmly motioned for the blond to leave.
"If you keep on being so defiant, even I will start to lose my temper, you know?" Naruto reacted sadly.
'He means...' Sakura suddenly remembered how even Naruto could be scary, even though he seemed to be naturally kind and good-hearted.
"Understood, Sakura-chan?" He replied with a forced smile, even though Sakura recognized the hidden threat in his voice.
"Then strip already. This isn't a request, but an order." Naruto said bluntly, hungry eyes watching her every following movement.
…
"W-What?" Sakura flinched in surprise, uttering the words of surprise in a barely audible voice.
"And do it nice and slow. Make sure I can see everything." Naruto commanded, his expression still indiferent.
'Is he serious? Why does this have to happen now? What am I supposed to do?' Sakura watched the blue-eyed vampire with fright in her eyes, his personality changing as if another/an entirely different and hungry person lived inside him.
"Please, Naruto... I'm..." Sakura was speechless as she squeezed the blanket between her fists, the only barrier between her and Naruto.
Silence filled the room, in which only Sakura's deep breathing could be heard.
…
"Just kidding, Sakura-chan!" Naruto burst out laughing until he had to grab his stomach too. "You're so easy to fool."
'All that... All that... Was he just making fun of me?'
Despite Naruto's hysterical laughter, Sakura wasn't amused at all.
"You need to loosen up a bit. Don't be so deadly serious, Sakura-chan. You're just like Sasuke-teme, neither of you have a sense of humor." Naruto winked at Sakura with a smile and looked at her uniform lying across from him. Sakura followed his gaze. She only glanced at the uniform for a second, and then when she looked up again at Naruto, he was already gone.
'How do they do that?' She sighed in bafflement but also in relief that Naruto's gone already. Should she go to school? Now that she'd found out about the vampires being around and that her dad wasn't her dad? 'Dad! I need to know more about this whole situation!'
'Looks like they left me alone.'
"Maybe I can use this chance to go to the room where I found that diary…" She quickly threw off the covers and tiptoed across the fluffy, soft and white carpet in front of the bed, to the door. Carefully she grasped the handle and with great caution stuck her head into the gap by the ajar door.
"Great, all clear..." She smiled to herself and, still in her white nightgown, stepped out into the hallway.
"Aren't you changed yet, Sakura-chan?" Sakura nearly jumped out of her skin in surprise when the very familiar voice of the man who had kept her company earlier… came from behind her back.
"Or... Are you hoping to charm all the guys at school with your sexy yet cute sleepwear? You're gonna make me jealous." Naruto said flirtatiously.
"Do you want me to change you?" He scratched the back of his neck nervously. "I would be glad to help you with that." He lifted his back from the wall he was leaning against and stepped closer to Sakura. He checked her out from head to toe and chuckled with anticipation.
"I'm fine, thank you!" She snapped at him, arms protectively around her body, and ran back to 'her' room. Without Naruto having time to say anything, she slammed the door sharply behind her and rushed to get dressed in her prepared uniform.
'Guess that diary will have to wait a while. Now I probably have to check out my new school.'
