CHAPTER 4: MAKING THINGS RIGHT

A couple of days later, Franco had gotten in touch with the gang from home through webchat. He wanted to let them know he was okay and feeling better. Peppermint Patty made it a point to stay close when it was time for her to talk. She was determined to make things right with him and apologize for kissing Zac while upset with him. Franco, for his part, also wanted to apologize for his own actions and also wanted to clear the air with Zac, as well. But first, the gang updated him on the plan to rescue the kangaroos.

"It's goin' t' be excitin' savin' th' 'roos, Franco," said an excited Jadan. "Everything's goin' as planned."

"That's good, Jadan," said Franco, smiling.

"Soon the kangaroos will be free," added Linus.

"Sound like you're up to a lot," observed Franco.

"That's an understatement," said Charlie Brown. "Anyway, how are you doing, Franco?"

"I'm good, Charles," said Franco. "Doing better and even getting out some."

"That's great, hun," said Frieda. "We were worried about how you were for a while."

"I know," Franco replied. "Sorry for abruptly leaving like I did."

"We understand why you left," said Linus. "No one's upset with you. Did Lucy talk to you?"

"She did, Linus," Franco responded. "She helped me out a bit." Peppermint Patty walked up to the laptop.

"Hey guys, can I talk to Franco alone for a minute?" she asked.

"Sure thing, Patty," said Charlie Brown.

"Why don't we see what the pets are up to," suggested Krissy.

"Sounds like a p-plan," agreed Claudia. And everyone left the room and went outside to the backyard to see what Snoopy, Woodstock, Gracie, and Hops were doing. Patty looked at Franco on the screen.

"So, was everyone surprised by your return?" she asked.

"Yah, a little," Franco replied. "Look, Patricia, about what happened-"

"No Franco, I'm the one who should apologize. I never meant to hurt you like that. Sure I was upset and I wanted you to suffer, but I never intended for Zac and I to kiss. At least initially. But I should have put a stop to it then and there instead of pursuing it like I did. And for that, I'm truly sorry."

"I'm sorry too, Patricia. I should have been up front with Zac about not flirting with you instead of fighting him."

"I think both of us made mistakes, Franco. When I get back, we should discuss the matter more. Agreed?"

"Yah."

"Well, I better check up on the gang and see what they are doing."

"Okay. I'll see you when you get back."

"You too, Franco."
