Chapter 1: System Scan Zone [5 Years Ago]
Years went by as the trio had managed to recruit many ministers, who also had interest in joining the united anti-virus movement. But even with the amount of experienced robots recruited, they still had no luck in finding the 'special children' they were looking for... Until one stormy night.
Mistress ClamWin was walking around the backstreets as she was being showered by rainfall.
She was just walking around and minding her own business when she suddenly heard splashes from footsteps nearby.
Curious, she eaves dropped to a nearby building, where she spotted a young girl robot wearing yellow and orange armour running into the alley with what appeared to be a prepaid gift card in her hand.
Immediately, ClamWin had every right to be suspicious.
"Who would run around carrying a gift card and eventually giving it to a stranger who intends to perform some shady activity in return?" With many years of experience behind her, she understood the scam far too well.
As ClamWin stopped and hid behind a brick wall to eaves drop even closer, she saw the young girl approach a wooden concession stand with a group of heavily armed gunmen waiting in line and a minister who wore black and red armor, and a red cape with a red shield and black keyhole logo ready to service his potential customers.
ClamWin was shocked as to who she saw manning the stand, "Minister Total AV?!" She whispered as she quietly observed what was happening.
At the concession stand, there stood six pink small boxes with an AV logo printed in purple and yellow letters.
Everyone at the stands were demanding for a copy of whatever was inside these boxes.
"Greetings fellow buyers, my name is Total AV, and welcome to Optical Illusions. I have with me 6 rogue anti-viruses up for sale today, would any of you like to place an opening bid?" Asked Total AV who intended to sell his 6 boxes to the highest bidder.
One gunman shouted, "I'll pay you 100 for your rogue anti-virus!"
Other gunmen chimed in to place their bids until the young woman finally shouted, "How much will it cost to buy your software?!"
"Wait, what? Buying software? Is this an illegal sale of some sort?" ClamWin thought to herself.
Upon observing, ClamWin finally realized,
"Total AV, this 'rogue software' of yours is considered malware, which is illegal within the U.A.V guidelines. The fact that you are using our codes to develop this rogue, is considered stolen property from the U.A.V. And the fact that you are distributing these codes to the public without our consent, indicates that you are also violating our rules and regulations." ClamWin thought as she continued to observe the situation.
She hesitated to approach the concession stand, but noticed the young woman approaching Total AV with her gift card in hand.
"Hmm, it appears we have a buyer, please state your name and occupation." Said Total AV as he bowed before the young woman.
"Jinx Ranger, programmer for the united anti-virus movement. I hear that you have created the most powerful rogue anti-virus software in history. With your permission Minister, I wish to study this rogue software as part of my final exam in hopes to finally graduate and become the next minister of the U.A.V. I hope this doesn't offend you sir." Said Jinx as she respectfully bowed back towards Total AV.
Mistress ClamWin thought to herself,
"A U.A.V programmer? Trust me girl, wherever you're going with this, you're entering a world of trouble."
"Not at all my dear. Any virus historian is always more than welcome to test and study my development codes. And if I may make a suggestion, if you really want to wrap your head around these dev codes, one of these rogues is the most advanced among them all." Said Total AV as he waved his hand around the six boxes gesturing for Jinx to pick one.
"In that case, I wish to buy the most advanced rogue software you got." Said Jinx as she grabbed one of the 6 boxes at random and held it in her arms.
Total AV was impressed,
"Excellent choice miss, that version you're holding in your hand is in fact version 6 or the F variant, the most powerful of all my dev codes; created to make this rogue." Jinx smiled as she was happy she chose the right software she wanted to study.
Total AV then stuck out his arm as a gesture for Jinx to pay up,
"And that will be 700 dollars... But because you're still a student, I'll give you a special discount for only 520 dollars." Said Total AV as he smiled.
Furious, ClamWin tried to step in and stop the sale, but it was already too late.
Without hesitating or even a second thought, Jinx gave Total AV her gift card.
"Thank you my dear, twas a pleasure doing business with you." Said Total AV as he bowed down to her while she ran off with the software in hand.
The gunmen waiting in line were furious as to what they just witnessed and fired their rifles in the air in anger.
"No!!! I wanted that rogue!!!" Shouted one of the gunmen.
"No fair, I could have bid 600 for that beautiful piece of software!" Another gunmen shouted.
Now ClamWin could have seized the opportunity to approach Total AV and apprehend him for breaking the laws of the U.A.V.
Instead, she decided to follow Jinx; as there was something suspicious about a U.A.V programmer and the rogue anti-virus she just purchased.
When Jinx finally arrived back to her house which looked like a ran down log cabin located near the mountains,
she grabbed her keys and unlocked the front door to find her husband waiting for her in the living room.
Jinx and her husband who had similar armor to hers but had black and red armor as well as black dragon wings went upstairs to turn on the computer.
When the computer finally turned on, Jinx opened up the box she had bought from Total AV and popped a blue CD inside the disc drive.
When the CD finally loaded, a popup error appeared on the desktop revealing an adorable blue chibi robot with blue armor and a blue cap who was looking as cute and innocent as ever.
As the adorable blue robot was staring at the couple from the computer screen, Jinx and her husband looked at each other and then looked back towards the screen.
"Is that... a rogue?" The black and red armoured robot asked looking surprised.
Jinx simply smirked and nodded as she looked back towards the blue robot.
Her husband then realized Jinx's intentions of studying this rogue software she purchased.
"You do realize that if the U.A.V catches you studying this rogue, it will be 15 years in quarantine for you if you get caught?" Dragon remarked as he explained the risks of owning software containing viruses.
Jinx turned her head towards her husband and responded, "True, but I already did my research in advance. Trust me honey, I know all the risks i'm willing to take to study this software."
Dragon then looked at his wife very concerned, he was worried that this rogue she purchased would eventually spell trouble for this robot couple.
Later that night, Jinx's husband was in the garage assembling a small blue robot unit that looked just like the mascot shown in the pop up window.
It had exactly the same specifications such as the blue armor and a blue cap.
Dragon began to assemble the robot with it's respectable components. He first attached the arms to the stomach. Followed by the legs to the torso. He then merged the stomach with the torso together, before finally attaching the head with the cap.
As Dragon was tightening the nuts and bolts with a wrench, he began to threaten the lifeless robot, "Son, if you ever cause any trouble to me or my wife, I will not hesitate to dismantle you to pieces! I know you are rogue software, and rogues are considered malware; which will always spell trouble to any programmer or anti-virus of the U.A.V!"
Once the robot unit was finally assembled, he began to load the dev codes onto the unit by extracting the script as a document. He opened up the script file onto the computer and printed it using a nearby printer. He then crumpled it up into a paper ball and stabbed the robot's heart with the script inside, thus installing the rogue software in the process.
Once the installation was complete, he finally switched on the unit. The robot physically opened his eyes... and the blue robot we all know and love was born.
"Welcome to the computer world my son." Said Dragon, "I think I shall call you... Void Ranger."
Void slowly looked around the room left and right before opening his mouth and saying his first words. "Hello commander... would you like me to run a system scan?"
Dragon simply smirked towards the robot and gave him a hug, his robot assembly was a success.
Just then, the garage door opened and Jinx walked in to see what the commotion was about, but before she could ask what was going on, she looked next to her husband and saw her son for the very first time.
She quickly approached the robot and grabbed his cheeks as she inspected the robot's face. "My sweet little teddy bear." She and Dragon then hugged the blue boy. But Void stood still, not knowing what to do or how to feel.
But something was wrong with Jinx. She suddenly began to feel lightheaded as she was hugging her son. She then walked away from the 2 robots and began to cough in a nearby sink.
"Honey?!!!" Dragon shouted as he ran towards her and hugged her while looking very concerned. He then glared at the blue robot; as he knew their troubles were about to begin.
As many months went by, the blue boy's life wasn't always sunshine and roses.
As the robot began to age, both Dragon and his wife enrolled him into an elementary school, somewhere in the mountains of their village; which was called Robosoft.
It was a very depressing village. It was dark and foggy, it had dead trees everywhere. And everyday, the skies and clouds were a dark grey color.
On his first day of school at Robosoft elementary, the boy was being bullied by a robot who was bigger and stronger than him.
Little did the boy realize, but another larger robot would eventually show up and stand up for him.
"GRAAAAAAA!!!" Shouted a buff looking bully with aqua and orange armor and brass knuckles on his hands; as he tried to punch the defenseless robot.
Luckily for the boy, he moved out of the way to dodge the thunderous punch.
"You think you're pretty adorable? Don't you freak?!!!" Shouted the bully who was eager to beat up the robot.
"I'll let my fist break your teeth, now that'll be an accident."
Void slowly lifted his hands up to defend himself.
"I don't wanna fight you Cain Marksman." Said the terrified boy looking up towards the bully.
"I wouldn't want to fight me neither, now let me kick your a*!!" Shouted Cain as he tried throwing multiple punches to the defenseless boy.
But strangely, every time Cain tried to punch the boy with his brass knuckles, the boy somehow dodged and avoided every punch that was thrown at him.
"Grrrr, god dammit you little brat! Stay still!!!" The bully roared.
"No, go to hell!" Void responded as he tried desperately to get away.
Cain tried to tackle the boy, but the boy jumped towards a nearby tree and grabbed the nearest tree branch.
"What the hell are you doing up there?" Cain shouted as he jumped in the air to try to grab the boy.
"What does it look like? I'm trying to stay away from you!!!" The boy responded, "Hey, that's a nice outfit, do they come in men's sizes?" The robot then snarked.
After slowly climbing down, Cain tried again to punch the defenseless boy.
He finally caught the boy by his throat and slammed him onto the tree trunk. He then prepared to charge up his attack as he was ready to land his most thunderous punch yet.
"This is only gonna hurt a lot." Cain said as he raised his hand and punched the boy in the eye multiple times. The bully then lifted his fist once again, he was ready to finish off the boy.
Suddenly, another muscular robot wearing purple and silver armor and a purple cape grabbed Cain's hand away from Void.
It was Mistress ClamWin, and she walked in front of Void. She was defending the boy from the bully who wanted to hurt him.
She then delivers a thunderous punch to Cain, sending him flying and crashing through the nearest window; where nearby teachers ran to investigate what happened.
As she watched the teachers tending to the bully's injuries; she blew the dust off her fist, and then walked towards the boy. ClamWin then bent down on her knees to comfort him.
She held onto his cheek and slowly turned his head to reveal a black eye from the punches the boy recently endured.
"Awww, you poor little thing." ClamWin said as she observed the boy's injuries.
"Huh, who are you?" Asked the blue boy.
"You probably don't know me. In fact, we are both strangers, you and I. My name is Mistress ClamWin, and I'm here to search for young little children like you, who are willing to join our cause." Responded ClamWin.
"What kind of cause?" He asked looking nervous,
"This is a cause that will make the computer world a better place. But in order to achieve this, I need to know if I found the perfect students to train. Therefore, I would like to challenge you to a fun little game called tic tac toe. If you should win, then you will become the perfect candidate for our brand new school. And hopefully, we can take you away from this hell hole." She answered.
The boy carefully thought about it, he was unsure of what to do at this point, since he didn't want to suffer any longer at the hands of a bully who wanted to dismantle him. "Well... umm.. even though I was taught never to speak to strangers... if this cause can make the world a better place, then lets play."
ClamWin got up to her feet, took 2 branches from a nearby tree and offered one to the boy.
The boy slowly grabbed it, and they began to play tic tac toe on a nearby dirt pit in the schoolyard.
ClamWin began the game by drawing a circle on the top right corner, the boy followed with an X in the top left corner.
She then went for a second circle under the first, but the boy blocked it with his second X in the bottom right corner.
She then drew a circle on the bottom left corner. But when she finally realized her mistake, the boy drew an X in the middle and got tic tac toe diagonally.
"Tic tac toe, I win!" Shouted the boy who was very happy for winning the game.
Suddenly, both ClamWin and the boy heard a female voice from the distance, "Void Ranger honey, everyone back to class!" It was the boy's stepmother Jinx. Despite being a U.A.V programmer, she was also a part-time teacher for Robosoft elementary where she taught kindergarten.
"M-m-mother?" Void asked looking worried.
Jinx approached the pair and picked up Void. She then held him in her arms,
Jinx and ClamWin then had a tense stare down towards each other.
"Umm, mother? Is everything okay?" The blue robot asked, Jinx chose to ignore her son's question and looked directly into the minister's eyes.
"Miss Jinx Ranger, nice to see you again." Said ClamWin looking at Jinx with a serious look on her face.
"Nice to see you as well Mistress ClamWin, I noticed you met my son Void Ranger, my adorable little teddy bear." Responded Jinx.
"Ah yes, the boy you adopted from Total AV's virus syndicate." ClamWin snarked.
"Yes, I still remember it like it was yesterday. There was a bidding war for him, but I adopted him first before those criminals did." Jinx said as she rocked Void in her arms to put him to sleep.
"Mother, what are you saying exactly?" Void asked as he was confused. He then slowly began to fall asleep.
But Jinx ignored his question once again and responded, "That's not important, what's important is that I love you. Now cmon, lets go back inside. I'll see you around ClamWin?" Said Jinx as she waved to ClamWin and walked back inside the school with Void sleeping in her arms.
"Yes, i'll see you around Jinx." Responded ClamWin as she watched Jinx head back inside the school.
As Jinx walked back into the school, she once again began to cough. ClamWin looked back at the white robot as her face shifted from anger to concern. Upon witnessing what was happening, ClamWin began to realize. "Oh god, she's infected."
But before she can rush in to quarantine the robot, the doors shut behind Jinx and attempting to quarantine her was impossible.
And from that moment on, the blue robot's life would change forever.
Later that night, Jinx's husband and Void's stepfather was furious to hear what had happened in school.
"NOOOOOO!!! YOU LET THE U.A.V INTO OUR SON'S LIFE?!!!" Shouted the Dragon looking robot who stood up from the sofa and threw a glass of water to the floor.
"Dragon, honey, I'm sorry. It was that b*h ClamWin, she's been riding my a* ever since we bought Void from that Optical Illusions place." Responded Jinx as she tried to apologize to her husband.
As the couple sat down at the dinner table arguing, Void slowly approached the kitchen to sit at the table and watched to find out why his family were fighting.
"Honey, what do you have against the U.A.V anyway?!!!" Shouted Jinx,
"Everything, they ruined my f*ng life!!!" Shouted Dragon, "Maybe you think it's the U.A.V's fault we live in this f*ng sh*t hole of a city! Maybe you think it's the U.A.V's fault our families took off and left us with nothing!!!"
Suddenly, Dragon flipped the dinner table over and approached his wife with anger and fury in his eyes.
"It's the U.A.V's fault, IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THE U.A.V'S FAULT!!!" Shouted Dragon as he smacked her face so hard that she fell to the floor.
Injured, Jinx slowly got back to her feet and slowly crawled up the stairs towards the bedroom where she eventually locked the doors from the inside.
After locking the doors, she ran towards the bed and began to cough vigorously.
But Dragon still wasn't finished with her.
"Get back here. GET BACK HERE!!! COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!!!" Shouted Dragon as he ran to the bedroom door and banged his fist onto the door, he even attempted to break it down multiple times.
But all of a sudden, when Dragon finally broke the door open to confront his wife, Jinx took one last breath and led out a final cough. The bedroom then exploded causing the entire second floor to be engulfed in flames.
"CURSE YOU NORTON!!!" Dragon shouted as he quickly used his wings to cover himself. He was then pushed back by the flames and thrown out a nearby window.
Meanwhile, Void hid behind the flipped dining table and held on for dear life.
As he held onto the foot of the table, tears began to fall from his face. And from that point on, the blue robot knew he was afraid of fire.
10 agonizing minutes later, firefighters arrived to put out the fire in the ran down log cabin.
And soon enough, the firefighters made a grizzly discovery...
The entire house was burnt to the ground.
Jinx was found dead in the upstairs bedroom, Void was found in the kitchen unconscious with 2nd degree burns on his body, and Dragon was nowhere to be found.
