Rosemary's POV:

When we finished, Kumoko asked, "Say, Rosemary, I've never appraised you, have I? I'm curious to know what your stats are like. Can I?" I just nodded my head. She appraised me and said " You're a Small Lesser Dark Wyrm at level 5. Your stats are way higher than mine, even if you are a lower level! I suppose it would be because dragons are more superior to spiders. Everything is above 100! You have Abyssal Breath, Darkening Glare, Death gate, Shadow, Dark Magic, Heretic Magic, and Heresy Magic! What do your abilities even do? I know Abyssal breath but what about the rest?"

I tried to remember what all those abilities do. Hm. What was Darkening glare again? "Darkening glare is an intimidating glare that can paralyze opponents weaker and provide stat debuffs to opponents stronger than you," the mysterious voice said. "I can use it to paralyze monsters weaker than me with Darkening Glare. I can also provide stat debuffs on those stronger than me." I started to explain.

What is Death gate? "Death gate is an advanced barrier technique that manifests the user's Innate Domain and traps their target inside it using a barrier wall to create a separate space. The chances of getting hit while inside the Death gate is 100%" the voice answered. "I can use Death gate to trap opponents in a separate space that is only visible to me and the opponent I use it on. It is impossible to not get hit while inside my Death gate."

"I'm sure shadow and dark magic are self-explanatory. I can create shadows and darkness and manipulate them. Heretic Magic directly assaults the soul. I don't remember what Heresy Magic is." I finished. Kumoko seemed to have soaked in this information like a sponge.

"Were you born with your abilities?" She asked. "I don't remember. I do remember getting a title 'merciless' and a few abilities from the title." I answered. "Oh, so you were born powerful! That's cool! What would be your goal right now?" Kumoko was asking so many questions...

"To evolve I suppose," I said. "What did you do to level up to whatever level was needed to evolve?" I wanted to know. "Oh, I killed a bunch of things to eat, so I leveled up gradually." She replied.

I nodded and went to do exactly what she did. Maybe I should kill something stronger than myself to test my skills.

Timeskip

After I got back from my monster-killing spree, I could hear Kumoko screaming.

"HUMANS ARE WAY STRONGER AND SCARIER THAN I THOUGHT! SOMEBODY HELP!"

I ran in the direction of Kumoko's voice. By the time I got there, Kumoko was sliding down a ramp into a large chasm.

"Kumoko!" I yelled. "WAIT WAIT, I CAN'T STOP! AAHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh" As Kumoko fell down the chasm, her voice got fainter and fainter.

"Dammit!" One of the humans said. "What should we do now?" Another asked. "We'll have to go back and report it to the adventurer's guild." A third one said.

I see, so they are adventurers. I don't know what adventurers are. But if Kumoko's screams are anything to go by, then they tried to kill her. That is a grave sin I can't forgive.

"G-Guys… D-Do you feel that?" One of the humans stuttered out.

I accidentally activated Darkening Glare when I realized that those humans were trying to kill Kumoko.

"Y-yeah, I think it came from over there." When the adventurer pointed in my general direction, that's when I struck.

I cast [Dark Magic Level 1: Dark Bullet] and shot one at the adventurers. The bullet pierced through their armor and left a small hole in their chest.

"Wh-What is a wyrm d-doing here at the Upper Scantum?" One of them stuttered out. "I don't know! Let's run!" Another said. But before they could run, I leaped at them and used my claws to cut one of them in half.

As I pulled my claws out of the adventurer's body, 2 of them drew their swords.

"Jolliere! Run! Gaikun and I will try to slow this thing down!" "But-" as he tried to protest, the other one cut him off. "Don't worry about us! Just run!"

With that, he bolted. His 2 comrades circled around me with their swords drawn. One of them attempted to slash me with his sword but I bit him and crushed his chest. While I was distracted by that, the other guy attempted to stab me from behind. But I heard him coming because of my sensitive wyrm ears.

I used my tail to break his legs and when I was done eating his friend. I turned around and tore out his throat.

"You have gained a skill: Anger Lvl." The mysterious voice said.

After I killed them, I thought eating them would be better than letting them rot and attract other monsters.

When I'm done, I went to the pit Kumoko fell in. I don't think I could survive if I fell straight down. I wonder how I could go down there without killing myself. I then felt something move on my back. Oh yeah, I have wings.

I stretched out my wings and flapped them a little. Then a little more. I flapped them until I could finally lift my feet off of the ground. With flying now being one of my abilities, I descended down the pit. When I got there, I felt something. At first, I couldn't discern what that something was, but as I looked around I saw it. It was a dragon several times my size. He was covered in teal scales with many red crystal-like spikes protruding from his neck to the base of his tail. He was eating the bodies of several snakes and the aura he was emitting was suffocating.

I was frozen in fear. I cast dark magic around me so I could blend into the shadows. I appraised him.

"Earth dragon Araba: Level 37. Status appraisal failed."

This was an encounter I wouldn't forget in a long time. However, the only thing on my mind was my white spider companion. Yes looking back, I think that this is the moment I had accepted my friendship with kumoko.

"You have gained a skill: Fear resistance Lvl 1," The mysterious voice said.

I gulped down my fear and scanned my surroundings to look for Kumoko. After scanning my surroundings several times, I finally saw Kumoko hiding behind a rock. I propelled myself forward and using my wings, I picked Kumoko up and ran/flew past the dragon as fast as I could.
