Chapter 11: The Worm Zone:
The next day, both Void and SNT were walking down the stairs on their way to class,
as they continued walking down the stairs, Void grabbed SNT's hand and held her waist,
"Excuse me SNT," Said Void,
SNT turned around and looked at him, "What is it Void?"
"I've been doing some thinking... And i've finally decided, I want to go to the school ball with you! Is that okay with you SNT?!" Asked Void as he pulled SNT closer.
"Wait! Void! You really mean it?! You're finally asking me out to the dance?!!!" SNT asked excitingly. "Oh i'm so excited!!! I cannot wait to introduce you to my best friends Daniela, Nicole and Maria! I called them last night and told them all about you, and they're all just dying to meet you!!!"
Void was shocked over what she told him, "So let me get this straight, you invited your friends just so... they can meet... me?"
"Of course, this is gonna be so much fun!!!" SNT shouted with joy.
"If you say so, miss SNT" Void said as he closed his eyes and sighed while holding onto her waist.
SNT then held onto his neck as they hugged each other,
but as they were hugging, little did they realize a surveillance camera that was watching them.
Watching them from the security room was Minister Webroot, who was sitting in front of many holographic computer screens and was secretly spying on them through the camera.
"So, little Void Ranger and his adorable little SNT are in love, hmm?" Webroot said to himself while thinking out loud.
"This adorable chimera will soon become the catalyst for my next great scheme.
Before the U.A.V ball begins, I shall create a brand new piece of malware that will capture the beast and lure her into our laboratory."
Webroot then began to type on the keyboard, "Once I have this girl in my possession, I shall open up a new script, and attempt to create a blue screen memory dump by dividing the values by zero.
Once the memory dump is successful, the adorable little chimera will be trapped inside the dreaded blue screen. And from there, once we install a fresh operating system and infect it with my greatest creation ever made, Elite will be waiting for her... And he will kill her!!!" He laughed as he hit the enter button on his keyboard.
"With SNT dead, Elite will absorb all of her 'special' powers, making Elite the most unstoppable killing machine. And the U.A.V will finally tremble before me!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!" Laughed Webroot as he stared at his new malicious script he was currently creating.
Webroot then continued to type on his computer once again, "Now before we can execute this perfect scheme... What say you, we have some fun with the police, shall we?
Tis a little something that Total AV and I have secretly been working on called FunSoul. This little worm will be the very script that will bring the adorable little beast to me. Tis a worm that mass mails itself onto victim's address books in Macrosoft Outbox.
It redirects the homepage to a 9 dragons terrorist support page, and attempts to dial 911 every time the computer reboots. Provided of course, if the computer is connected to an internet modem.
And because the cyber police are so corrupt, game set and match... Optical Illusions. Now then, lets light some fireworks, shall we?" Webroot laughed as he pressed the enter button to activate the worm.
Meanwhile, back at the hallway of the academy. As Void and SNT continued to embrace each other, they suddenly heard a beeping coming from a security keypad nearby.
"Huh? What's going on?" SNT asked while holding onto Void's waist.
Both Void and SNT slowly walked towards the beeping keypad to investigate why it was beeping.
"Looks like someone activated the academy's security system just so they can play hooky from class." Void responded as he inspected the keypad.
"Hmm, it appears that this system has been tampered with. Whoever armed this system is begging to be arrested by cyber police." Said Void as he saw red and yellow lights flashing on the keypad.
"How do we stop that thing from beeping?!" Asked SNT as she tugged on Void's arm looking scared,
"Tis very simple actually, we just need to enter the password and hope to heck that the system disarms." Void responded as he opened up the cover of the keypad; which exposed a computer keyboard towards the pair.
"Still, who would be stupid enough to play around with something that isn't a toy?" SNT remarked,
Void suddenly began to type in one of many passwords that came to mind.
"This is not a backdoor." Void said as he typed the password on the keypad. The keypad's lights then lit up red and let out a buzzer sound; prompting to enter the password again.
Void tried entering a second password, he entered one of the decryption keys from Cryptolocker; responsible for encrypting files and holding them for a ransom.
The keypad's lights once again lit red and let out another buzzer sound; the password was once again incorrect.
"Dammit, this isn't working. Alright... lets try debug mode." Said Void as he re-entered the 'This is not a backdoor' password on the keypad.
Suddenly, the keypad buzzed a third time and the sirens finally began to blare throughout the academy.
Frightened, SNT held onto Void for dear life as Void tried to enter more passwords he remembered.
Suddenly, an intercom voice from the keypad began to speak to guide Void on how to enter a new password, Void was weirded out by the computer voice's demands.
"Hello and welcome to debug mode. Today I will teach you how to enter a new password. First, please identify yourself by entering your old password."
With no other option, Void tried entering another one of Cryptolocker's decryption keys, when he finished typing the key, the computer voice announced, "Incorrect password, please try again."
"VOID, PLEASE MAKE THIS STOP!!! THIS IS TORTURE!!!" SNT cried as she placed her fingers on her ears.
Void was not happy, he tried entering a third decryption key from Cryptolocker, and for the second time, the computer voice spoke saying; "Incorrect password, please try again."
Frustrated, he typed in one last decryption key from another ransomware, and the keypad beeped and froze while the sirens stopped blaring. Void had broken the system.
"Is it over?" SNT asked as she removed her hands over her ears and slowly walked next to Void,
Void approached the keypad, "Don't you dare blast those sirens on me, stay silent!" He shouted.
"Incorrect password. Failure to comply, and the authorities will be dispatched." Said the computer voice as the sirens blared once again.
Void attempted to type one more decryption key from the Cryptolocker ransomware, and at last, the sirens stopped blaring... But it was already too late.
"Alarm, alarm, alarm. An alarm has been initiated and the authorities have been dispatched. This system has been halted due to tampering. Please contact your system administrator for further assistance. Thank you for using debug mode by Bull-E systems." Said the computer voice as the security system shut down while sending a signal to cyber police.
"Dammit, looks like the system is broken!" Shouted Void as he bashed his fist onto the keypad while looking angry. "And to make matters worse, the police are on their way, and Minister Norton has to negotiate with the cyber police to reinstall the passwords."
SNT held onto Void and hugged him as she comforted him after the events that unfolded.
"Maybe we should report this to Norton." SNT suggested.
"He's gonna have to know about what happened eventually." Said Void as he and SNT held hands and walked to a computer lab located near the classroom Void and SNT were supposed to enter.
Inside the classroom, Norton was setting up copies of scripting software called Macrosoft Visual Studio in preparation for his upcoming disassembly and recovery class in about an hour.
Both Void and SNT knocked on the door and walked inside the classroom. Norton was shocked to see Void and SNT enter his classroom.
"Void Ranger! SNT! What are you both doing here?!!! This is disassembly and recovery. All students are prohibited from taking this class unless they passed 2 exams and have been promoted to A-tier anti-virus!!!" Minister Norton shouted,
Both Void and SNT tugged on Norton's arms, "Minister Norton, we have an emergency, our security system has been breached!!" Void shouted, "I don't know how it happened or who's responsible but the police are on their way as we speak!!!"
"Norton, please help us!!! This was torture, I tell you... TORTURE!!!" SNT cried as she shed a few tears.
"Children... Are you serious?!!!" Norton shouted as he was demanding for answers.
Suddenly, the trio heard a little boy from the virus culture class running away and crying.
When the boy saw SNT, he ran up to her and hugged her while crying on her shoulders.
SNT hugged back and tried to comfort the boy.
"I DON'T WANT TO GO TO THIS STUPID SCHOOL ANYMORE!!! I WANNA GO HOME!!!" The young boy cried out loud.
"There there, shhh shhh, it's gonna be okay. Okay? Mommy SNT will take good care of you. Everything is gonna be okay, okay?" SNT said as she rubbed the young boys back while he cried on her shoulder.
SNT and Void then looked up to Norton,
"Minister Norton, your class can wait. We need to find out who's responsible for disabling our admin passwords." Void demanded,
Suddenly, the sirens began to blare once again.
Both Void and Norton quickly ran to the keypad while SNT continued comforting the child.
As Norton began to carefully inspect what was happening to the keypad, Webroot suddenly entered the hallway towards the keypad and entered the correct password which was, "Welcome to the future."
Finally, Webroot let out a smile and slowly walked away from both Void and Norton who both looked back at Webroot. Webroot was walking back to his classroom on the opposite side of the hallway.
Both Void and Norton felt dumb after witnessing Webroot enter the correct password. And little did Void and Norton realize, the danger would be far from over.
Just then, something malicious suddenly began to slither behind them nice and slowly.
All coiled up and ready to strike, a large worm slowly took up its fighting stance as it was ready to bite both Void and Norton.
When Void and Norton finally turned around, they saw the worm ready to attack. The worm wore a police vest and a cowboy hat, resembling what looked like a sheriff of the cyber police.
"Yee haw!!" The worm shouted as it jumped in the air and tried to bash Void and Norton. But luckily, both Void and Norton ran out of the way just for the worm to hurt itself by bashing it's head to the floor.
Both Norton and Void drew their swords and calmly approached the worm.
The worm then coiled itself up once again and prepared to jump up and bite the pair once again.
"Yee haw!!!" The worm shouted a second time as the worm boosted towards Void and Norton, ready to bite.
Just then, as Void ducked under the worm, Norton side stepped away from the worm and used his sword like a baseball bat to slash the worm's abdomen. But the worm was still relentless.
The worm slowly got back up to it's feet and coiled itself up once again.
As the worm attempted to get back on it's feet, both Void and Norton ran down the stairs and tried to get away from the worm as much as possible.
At least 3 floors down, both Void and Norton hid in a corner to catch their breath.
"What the hell is that thing?" Void asked while looking out of shape.
"That is FunSoul, tis a worm that can call cyber police every time you boot up your computer!" Norton explained,
"But wait a sec, how the heck does a worm contact the police, never heard of that one before!!!" Void shouted looking shocked.
"FunSoul can contact the police if you're connected to the internet. It could possibly be the reason why our security system had been breached earlier." Norton questioned.
Just then, FunSoul got back to it's feet and began to search for both Void and Norton.
The worm then looked down and spotted them 3 floors below him.
"Yee haw!" Shouted FunSoul as it jumped off the stairwell 3 stories down and landed next to where Void and Norton were catching their breath.
Surprised and panicking, both Void and Norton tried to run towards the hallways to get away from FunSoul. But every time FunSoul slithered closer and closer, it would boost towards Void and Norton to deliver quick bites; only to miss and hit the walls while injuring itself.
Suddenly, both Void and Norton reached a dead end of the hallway as they were cornered by the worm.
The worm slowly slithered towards Void and began to lick it's mouth nice and slowly.
"Yeeee hawww..." The worm whispered towards Void as it licked it's mouth in front of him.
"Ewww, that's disgusting." Void remarked as he was looking scared as the worm continued to approach him.
Just then, Norton quickly used his sword as a baseball bat once again and slashed the worm in it's abdomen.
The worm coiled up looking injured as it tried to regroup. FunSoul wasn't happy at what just happened.
Meanwhile, back in the classroom, 3 floors above, SNT was still comforting the sad little boy in the disassembly class.
As the boy slowly stopped crying, Mistress ClamWin opened the door as she wanted to speak to Norton. But instead, she saw SNT and the boy.
"SNT!! What are you doing here. You children aren't supposed to be here." ClamWin remarked,
SNT looked up to her, "Can you help me? Norton and Void went to check on the security system after the passwords stopped working, and now they disappeared. I need your help to find them."
She looked down at SNT and the boy and thought about it for a second, "Alright my child, follow me."
Within seconds, Mistress ClamWin led SNT into the security room to observe the security cameras.
Back at the hallway 3 floors below, FunSoul continued slithering slowly as it growled towards Void and Norton as they were still cornered by the worm with no possible method of escape.
Frightened, both Void and Norton pointed their swords towards FunSoul and slowly took up their fighting stances,
"Well minister Norton, this is the end, twas nice knowing you!" Void said as he closed his eyes tightly while holding his sword in the air.
"Same here my child... same here." Norton said while closing his eyes as well.
The worm then coiled up and prepared for it's final attack.
"Yee haw!!!" Roared the worm as it jumped in the air and attempted to bite Void and Norton once again.
Suddenly, a beautiful chimera curled into a ball and bashed FunSoul's head from behind, causing the worm to become incapacitated.
"Wow!!! SNT!!! Thank goodness you're here to save us! But how did you know where to find us?!" Void shouted looking shocked to see SNT attack the worm.
"Remember when we fought AVG on the highway last year? You taught me to check the security cameras. And thanks to ClamWin's help, I got here as quickly as possible." SNT responded.
Norton sighed in relief and whispered, "Thank you ClamWin."
Finally, As the worm attempted to get back nice and slowly. Void, SNT and minister Norton took up their fighting stances and surrounded FunSoul.
Ready to let out one last hoorah, FunSoul shouted "Yee haw!!" And attempted to go for a quick bite towards SNT.
But because the trio were in the hallway, and there were lockers surrounding them left to right. SNT side stepped out of the way and quickly opened a locker door, causing the worm to slam itself into the locker and become injured.
Without hesitating, SNT shut the locker door closed as Norton approached the locker with a metal lock. Once he locked the door and threw the key into the nearest recycling bin, the FunSoul worm had been defeated.
Void then quickly hugged SNT with all his might, "Oh SNT, thanks for saving us! You're my hero!!!" Cried Void,
"Well, what else can I say Void, I'm special!" Shouted SNT as she smiled and winked towards him.
Norton then approached the children and placed his hands on their shoulders.
"Well done in defeating that authoritarian abomination. I believe that the both of you are nearly ready for your next exam of virus detection and removal." Norton said as he and the pair walked away from the lockers and walked towards the staircase.
"Really? What's the last assignment we need to perform in order to be ready?" Asked Void,
"Patience my child, you'll find out soon enough." Norton responded as they walked up the stairs and back to their respected classrooms.
As Norton led Void and SNT back to class, Minister Webroot slowly approached the locker that had the FunSoul worm trapped inside.
Without a word, Webroot then walked to the nearest recycling bin and stuck his hand inside to find the key that Norton threw away.
Webroot finally found the key and looked at the locker as he slowly approached it.
Suddenly, Webroot unlocked the locker and opened the door to find the FunSoul worm coiled up and still injured after it's previous battle.
The worm slowly slithered back up and growled, "Yeeee hawwwww..." Prompting to Webroot that the worm wanted revenge against SNT after having it's butt rearranged earlier.
Webroot gave out an evil smile as he looked up at FunSoul who wanted to cause even more trouble to the trio the worm had fought earlier.
