Amity Blight has the wrinkliest brain on planet Earth, according to herself. She had a plan today. The moment Luz Noceda tried any shit, she had a response. Because Luz was the one who was obsessed with Amity. And of course she would be, she's a Blight. Blight's are beautiful, they are smart, and they certainly won't be outdone by an asshole like Luz.

Amity stepped out from her morning lecture hall, and began the trip down the hallway to go around the outside of the central plaza. She stepped outside, and a gentle breeze welcomed her. It was just as sunny as it was yesterday, and it gave Amity that extra pep in her step. Her badass steps, because Amity Blight was a total badass.

In fact, Amity was feeling good enough today, to pull out her phone, and take a look at herself in the camera. Yes, her skin was paler than mayo, but it was flawless. Her earrings glittered in the light, the little signs of anarchy that accompanied the white My Remical Chodemance t-shirt and necklace perfectly. Her hair still had plenty of color, no need to touch it up today. And the dark roots peeking from the front of her head added a nice contrast, giving her a look that would make her turn her own head.

And she did. Because Amity Blight felt on top of the world, three hours of sleep be damned. She took a few selfies, and as she was studying the angles, the smile creeping onto her face in a rare bout of self confidence and ego, she ran into Luz.

"I-I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going, I'm really, seriously super sorry!"

"Makin' sure you look good before you see me today, Blight?"

There went her ego.

Amity looked up, and god damnit, why did Luz have to be taller than her? It was intimidating, it was unfair, and it was only ever so slightly attractive.

What am I thinking? Stick to the plan, dumbass!

"N-No. I just. I just feel good today, ok?"

Luz looked Amity up and down, and smirked. "I mean, I gotta say, I can't blame you. You should be feelin good."

What did she say? Was that a compliment? Did Luz Fucking Noceda just compliment her? Why was Amity's face turning red?

Amity glared up at Luz, who took a lollipop out of her back pocket. She offered it to Amity, who wordlessly refused, to which Luz shrugged and popped it into her mouth, which drew Amity's attention to her lips for longer than it should have. She wasn't blushing, it was just hot out today. She wasn't blushing. Luz Noceda was not making Amity blush.

Reaching into her bag, Amity grabbed the USB stick from the night before, holding it up and letting Luz take it from her. No way was she going to touch Luz's hand. That would just be weird.

"Hm..Oh, thanks, forgot about that," Luz said, plucking the USB from Amity's fingers and tucking it away in one of her many jacket pockets, "'Preesh."

"You're welcome."

Amity decided she had had enough of staring- Having to look at Luz for now, and cut the interaction there. As she made her way around the taller girl to continue on her path to class, and gather herself to stick to her god damn plan that she made specifically for this, she suddenly found herself heading to the ground.

Amity yelped, a small thud following it as her stuff hit the concrete. She caught herself and looked back just in time to see Luz bring her foot back in, looking over her shoulder.

"God, you're a fucking loser, Blight."

The girl twisted her lolly, pulled the stick of it out and flicked it unceremoniously at Amity. It landed on her face, leaving Amity to look on in shock, as Luz simply walked away. After standing back up and ensuring her phone was ok, Amity gathered her things and flicked the spit covered stick off to the side, wiping her hand on her pants.

Well, there goes the plan.

Amity couldn't stop thinking again. She made her way into the lecture hall silently, sitting far away from where she normally would. Her head fell into her hands. Why was she still blushing? Why was she blushing at all? A girl that she has never done a single thing wrong to, tripped her and effectively spat on her after essentially calling her cute.

"Why did she call me cute…?"

Boscha came up next to Amity, running fashionably late as per usual, and set her things down, turning in her seat to face her friend.

"Am, what's up?"

"Am I cute, Boscha?"

Boscha looked at Amity like she had a third eye.

"Like, this outfit. Does it look cute, does it look good?"

Boscha cleared her throat, the subtle tinge of pink that had come to her cheeks passing.

"I mean, yeah, girl, you look great! Like...Really great actually. Did you actually like, think about your outfit today?"

Amity sighed and nodded, leaning back into her seat.

"So what has you down?"

"Luz. Luz Noceda has me down."

"What do you mean?"

Amity threw her hands up in defeat, "I don't know! I don't even know, Boscha!"

"Jeeze, relax…Is she that girl that's been bullying you? Oh I swear, Amity, you say the word, you'll have the football team on-"

Amity looked at Boscha pitifully.

"She called me cute," she said.

"Wait...She did?"

"Yeah," Amity nodded, turning back to stare blankly at the wall, "And then she tripped me, called me a loser, and basically spat on me."

Boscha grabbed her friends shoulders, tugging her in close in a very defensive hug.

"What the fuck is she playing at?" She asked, more to no one than to Amity, "and with you of all people, Amity! That girl, she is dead. If she lays a finger on you, you understand me? She lays a finger on you, you tell me, I'll have her run out of town."

Amity absently nodded, her mind spinning in circles. First Luz spends the entire previous year bullying Amity, then one day wants to help her out. The next day she calls her cute, then watches her fall down. Is that Luz's game? Does she want to just watch Amity rise and fall like a rollercoaster and use her as a punchline?

As the lecture hall cleared out, classes ending for the day, Amity finally packed up her things, and stumbled like a zombie to the door to make her way back home.

"Does she actually think I'm cute?"

That evening Luz had come over to give Amity the notes again. Amity had quickly snatched the USB drive from the girl, shut the door, and ran past her gawking siblings. She shut herself in her room, and quickly got to work. Thankfully she was actually able to get some done, instead of thinking about that stupid fucking asshole.

Though she totally thought about her. She thought about how intimidating Luz looked, looking down at her when she had tripped her over. It kept making her gut feel funny. Not quite butterflies, but not quite a knot. Amity wasn't quite sure what it was. But it kept replaying, over and over. Each time, she caught more detail. The smirk, Luz's eyes, the shine in them, the way she stood, how she didn't even turn around.

It wasn't until midnight that Amity saw the note.

On the USB was a single text file, under several long videos of classes (each of which, Amity noticed, had some sort of naming scheme) called "luzer".

Curiosity got the better of her.

'sup luzer

meet me outside of the stem hall tmrrw

11 am

i'll b there, if ur not there by 11:30 im super

gluing your car door

555-555-XXXX

-luuuuuuuuuz noceda 3 3 3'

This is a trap. How could it be anything other than a trap? I am going to be tarred and feathered, or shoved down a hill, or something. She is just going to hurt me.

Is what any sensible, totally not obsessed person would think. But curiosity wins again. Amity enters the number into her phone, and shoots Luz a text.

i got your "invitation".

so r u gonna be there or am i breaking out the flex glue

ill be there

awesome 3

gn =)

This was just getting weird. Amity didn't know why the heart made her smile, or why the fact that Luz used an equals for eyes instead of a colon made her giggle so much. As she clicked her phone off and got ready for bed, she felt her mind racing back to Luz's smile. She had that same smile today when Amity had answered the door.

Amity had very clearly ordered her siblings to be far away from the door this time, so that they would not, quote 'fall for this witches spells', end quote. So that smile was on full display, for her. Just her, just Amity. And it never faded. It looked genuine, it looked like Luz was happy to have an excuse to come by and see Amity blush.

Luz liked seeing Amity blush.

Amity liked that Luz liked seeing her blush. Amity liked her smile. She liked the way she laughed, even when it was at her. She shouldn't be liking these things about Luz. Yet here she was, thinking of her smile and thinking about the heart in a text message, and the way Luz laughed, all before bed.

I'm messed up. I'm seriously, really fucking messed up.

"You're not actually going to go see her, right?" Willow asked, as she and Gus watched Amity pace back and forth between them.

"It sounds like it would be a trap," Gus threw in. Kid was pretty smart. Ok, he's not a kid, but Amity and Willow were 20 and he was 18. That's basically a kid. How was he in their classes again? Oh yeah, because he's smart enough to not be the kind of person to fall for what is clearly a trap set up by a bully.

"I don't know, it could be!"

Willow adjusted her glasses, "It totally is."

"But," Amity turned with a sheepish smile, "It could not be?"

"You sound way too hopeful, Am," Gus said.

Amity sighed, holding her head in her hands. She had less than an hour to make her decision. Go into what is an obvious trap, or get her car door super glued shut. That doesn't sound too bad, until you realize that means Amity's siblings would be the ones taking her home. The thought made her shudder.

"I would just bite the bullet, Amity," Willow said, standing up to put her hand on Amity's shoulder, "The pain of having to ride in the same vehicle as your siblings and the effort it will take to get the super glue off is preferable to that of the effort of trying to get over being pantsed in front of the entire campus."

Amity blushed a tad, and looked at Willow, "What makes you think she'd...pants me?"

"It's the only thing she hasn't done yet," Willow explained.

"Out of the running list we have of 'Classically immature and creatively malicious pranks'," Gus added, "she has yet to pants you even once. While we would include tarring and feathering as a possibility, we don't think she's smart enough to know what tar means."

Willow and Gus snickered at their little banter, but Amity felt...Weird.

"She's not dumb," Amity said.

"You're kidding, right?" Gus laughed.

Amity turned to face them, standing a little taller.

"No, I'm not!" Amity said, "If it weren't for her taking notes, I would be failing at least two of my classes."

"Okaayy, I think you need to be getting more sleep, Am," Willow said after a beat, gathering her things with Gus.

"I'm being honest!"

"We know you are, that's the weird part," Gus said.

"I still wouldn't go if I were you!" Willow called out, as she and Gus walked off together to their next class.

Amity sighed, and stared at her feet. Did she just defend her bully? She totally just defended her bully. She should be slagging on her too, she's treated her like a doormat for how long? Apparently 2 days of being mildly nice while still fucking with her and giving her the notes she missed makes up for a year or so of mistreatment.

Another sigh, and a deep breath. Amity had made up her mind.

At ten until 11 o' clock, she showed up. Luz was sat on the ground, alone- Something that Amity couldn't tell was a good thing or not. She had a speaker with her, playing music as loud as it could possibly play, which is probably the only reason Luz didn't notice she was there until Amity was standing next to her.

"Ayy, the loser did actually show up!" Luz said, smiling. Not a smirk, a smile, that smile.

"Well you did kind of give me no other choice."

"Hm...yeah, I guess I did threaten you with quality family time with your siblings."

Amity fought the urge to laugh, because she shouldn't be laughing at her bully's jokes, especially when this was Amity's siblings they were joking about.

"I figure anything you might do to me on this little outing can't be any worse than what they would do to me in a car."

Luz laughed a little. It was cute- It was dumb. It was a stupid laugh. Probably forced anyways.

Luz eventually jumped up from the grass, grabbing the speaker and giving it a quick toss in the air, "'Ight, Blight, let's get this show on the road."

Amity can't stop a smile cracking this time, as she starts to follow Luz.

"So, like, where are we going? Some like, secret wing of the campus? The clock tower? The athletics department?"

Amity was a bit too caught up trying to theorize where the hell Luz was planning to take her, so much so that she didn't notice they were in the parking lot until she walked right into the back of Luz's car. She looked down, looked up, turned around, and spun back to look at Luz.

"Blight," Luz said, stepping around to the driver side door, "You...Are a loser."

Amity blushed again.

"And I," Luz said, with a bit of flourish, "want to help you be less of a loser."

"By skipping classes?" Amity snapped.

Luz shot finger guns at Amity and grinned, an act so wonderfully dumb and carefree that Amity nearly forgot what was going on.

"Exactamundo," Luz said, yanking her keys out of her pocket. She let them fly up behind her, kicking them back to her hand with her foot, and unlocked the car.

"You, Blight, have never stepped out of line once. Time to get a little bit crazy," Luz said, opening the door, "So get in, loser, we're goin' on an adventure."
