Amity Blight was not stupid. That didn't mean she didn't make stupid choices. Because here she was, getting into Luz Noceda's car, who is absolutely inviting her to skip class and be a delinquent as a trap. She's going to be pantsed, have her phone stolen, be thrown in some mud, and left to walk home, all the span of one second. She just knew it.

And she got in the car anyway. Because for some unfathomable reason, she was trusting Luz Fucking Noceda.

As Luz got ready to leave the parking lot, the bass from her cars speakers suddenly began rattling Amity's fucking eyeballs. It became pretty obvious who the douchebag driving around late at night was. She covered her ears and looked over at Luz, who was, regardless of how loud and intense this song was, nodding her head along in the most relaxed way. She glanced over, took note of Amity's distress, sighed, and flicked her thumb to skip to the next track.

Teenagers, by My Remical Chodemance. A song Amity knew by heart. So when Luz began singing, Amity immediately felt strange. Luz was getting into it, hand motions and everything.

Are you really going to sing along with her?

She was absolutely going to sing along with her bully. Only because she has to sing this song every time she hears it. Not because it seemed like a lot of fun to sing along with Luz. Absolutely not. Amity was 100% sure.

By the time the song had come to an end, with Amity and Luz laughing their asses off from the experience, Luz had finally noticed they were where she wanted to go, and pulled her car into a parking spot with a jerk. Amity quickly reached a hand out to stop herself from falling, and quickly blushed when she realized her hand had landed on Luz's thigh.

Maybe if I take my hand away quick enough she won't notice. Or slow enough? No, definitely quick.

Either way, Luz had noticed, because Amity hadn't decided by the time the car had shut off. And now they were staring at each other.

"You good, Blight?"

Amity quickly sat up, the blush pushing up her neck and invading her cheeks.

"Yep! All good!" she said, wow her voice was way too squeaky.

Luz stepped out of the car, locking it behind Amity, as she made her way out onto the beach. She stretched and took a deep breath, the smell of the ocean filling her nose and the clean air refreshing her. Amity tentatively followed behind her, stepping out onto the sand. She took a deep breath herself, and even she had to admit it was really relaxing. Her shoulders fell a bit, and for a moment, she forgot she was standing with her bully.

"Follow me, loser."

Amity rolled her eyes, following Luz as she led the way down to the water and up the quieter side of the beach.

"God, it's been a while since I've sung that song," Amity said, desperate for something to talk about.

"Same here. Look at us, singing a song that's just bitching about highschool as a couple of 20 somethings."

"20. 20 on the dot. Don't make me feel old."

Luz turned her head and smirked.

"I didn't realize I was older than you, Blight."

"Bullshit," Amity said, doing her best to fight back her smile.

"22," Luz smirked, spinning on her heel to walk backwards, "And livin' the fuckin' dream."

Amity rolled her eyes again, and her smile won the battle as she opted to look at the ground.

It took her a minute to realize how far they were from the other people on the beach. Talk about music and why My Remical Chodemance broke up and why they still haven't given the fans what they've really wanted, or why Luz always wore that stupid jacket even though it was blistering out, made the time pass pretty quick.

It was when Luz started climbing up some rocks that it hit Amity. This was definitely an adventure.

"Yo, Earth to Blight! Do you read me?" Luz laughed.

Her hand was reaching out for Amity's, ready to help her get up the steeper part of the rock.

"C'mon, I can barely climb this, and you're shorter than me."

Amity felt her face start to heat up, and grumbled. She quickly took Luz's hand, something she never imagined doing in a million years- Except for maybe last night- and hoisted herself up. She didn't quite plan to end up about 3 inches away from Luz's face though, and by this point Amity's blush could burn Luz if she got any closer.

"You good?" Luz asked after a beat, helping the other girl stand up.

"Just fine! Fine, everything is good! All good, no worries here!"

I've been talking for too long.

Amity felt that her blush was quite annoyingly not leaving her face. But thankfully Luz shrugged it off, making her way along the rocks that had split this particular beach into three. Or, at least, Amity thought it was three beaches. As Luz finally slid down the rocks, Amity was welcomed with a beautifully sunny, tiny little hidden away bit of beach.

It was pressed up against the cliff face of the hill it sat below, and was more than enough space to have a small party at. By the looks of some red cups tucked away in the corner, Amity got the impression that someone realized that a while ago. Looking out into the water gave an incredible view, the ocean coming in and turning a deep turquoise before retreating back out to sea, delicately splashing and dancing around some small rocks further out from the coastline.

Amity felt strangely touched when Luz asked her to sit next to her and look out over it all.

A few minutes passed before they spoke again.

"So, are you always bringing girls here?" Amity asked.

"Nope. Just you," Luz said, flashing that smile again.

Just me…

Amity felt her blush come racing back, and she couldn't help but smile herself. Luz chuckled, laying back into the sand.

"You should smile more, Blight," she said, "It looks seriously good on you."

Well if Amity wasn't blushing enough, she was probably glowing at this point.

"Thank you, Luz…"

"You know, Blight, I had a feeling you would've come even if I hadn't forced your hand a little."

"Why's that?"

Luz sat back up, and was very close to Amity all of a sudden. Her eye had a devilish twinkle to it, something that Amity hadn't realized until now that she really, really liked.

"Well because clearly you wanted to see me running around on a beach half naked."

The green haired girl's jaw fell, and she quickly began hiding her face as Luz began to laugh her ass off.

"Ohhoh, my god! I totally got you! No, you loser! You would come because you're a loser! And you knew that this was gonna be cool!"

A playful punch in the arm brought Amity back out of dreamland, and got another growl out of her, "Oh fuck you!"

Luz snorted, because apparently Luz was one of those cute- Really, really fucking annoying people who snorted when you got them laughing hard. And Amity really, really fucking hated it. That's what she told herself.

"Relax, Blight, " Luz said after her giggle fit was over, "Let's just enjoy the view, alright?"

Amity took a deep breath, and nodded. She slipped her shoes off and let her feet feel the warm sand, sighing as she, for the first time in a while, really relaxed.

"That sounds good to me."

Amity can't remember when - or how - they ended up with food. But it was some time before the sun had started to sit just a bit above the horizon, and some time before the sky had started turning pink. She had sat and had lunch with Luz, talking about whatever came to mind, and every now and then just sitting in comfortable silence, watching the waves come in and out.

For what she thought was going to be a trap, Amity had never been this relaxed in years. It was something she was going to be sure to cherish.

The being relaxed part. Definitely not the fact that she had spent the day with Luz.

"Blight," Luz said, turning her head, "It's gettin' late."

"Yeah. You're right."

Luz stood and stretched, helping Amity up in turn, and gathered her things. With a final shake of her jacket to rid herself of sand, she made her way over to the rocks they had slid down to get in.

"Just follow me whenever you're ready."

Amity nodded, and went over to grab her shoes. She slipped them on, and nearly threw up then and there. Vaseline. Warm Vaseline, with plenty of sand thrown in. Her feet felt like they were in a greasy desert, and her socks didn't help much to gate the horrid feeling of it all.

"Eeeeeew! Ew! Ew! Ew!"

Luz had doubled over, bracing herself against the rocks. She was busting a gut, proper, while Amity made awkward, very frustrated steps over to her with a low growl.

"O-O-Oh, Oh my god! I-It's like putting shoes on a dog!"

Amity blushed, giving Luz a shove.

"You are such an ass!"

After Luz had recovered and wiped the tears from her eyes, she leaned against the rocks, putting on a cocky grin that Amity really wanted to slap off her face.

"Alright, Blight, I got a deal for you," Luz said.

Amity, more than a little pissed, remained wordless, but shifted an eyebrow.

"I'll carry you so you don't have to walk like that and will leave you alone the rest of the night, on one condition."

The blush came back ten times stronger, and Amity was back to being hot enough to burn Luz if she got any closer. She wanted to protest, she wanted to slap the grin off of Luz's face, and she wanted to climb her own way out of here and demand Luz take her home. But there was that tiny, tiny voice in the back of her mind that was getting louder every single second.

I'd let you carry me anyways…

Amity got her brain back in order. "What?" she spat.

"I pick the song on the way back."

Amity sighed, and quickly covered her face. "F-...Fine."

Once they had gotten up the rocks, Amity realized she could never hide her face enough. She was in Luz's arms, bridal style, Luz carrying her down the whole way. Along the rocks that followed the hill, down the place they climbed up. Up the coastline to the slowly emptying beach, and back to the car, a trip that felt way too short now that she was being carried. The Dominican girl even opened Luz's door, and set her inside in a less than ceremonious manner.

The song Luz had picked rattled Amity's existence, and made her very glad that the drive home was a short one. When Luz turned down the volume though, Amity looked up at her. For once, Luz didn't have that shit eating grin on her face. She looked...She looked shy. She looked like she was thinking.

"Blight…?" She asked, barely.

"Yeah?"

Luz's face scrunched, and eventually appeared to give up."It was nice hanging out with you today."

Was that a blush on Luz Fucking Noceda's cheeks? Was Luz. Fucking. Noceda. Blushing?

No, better question. Was she blushing because she just told Amity she had a good time with her? She totally was.

"Thank you," Amity said, feeling the heat come back to her cheeks, "It...it was nice hanging out with you too...Minus the fucking shoes, you asshole."

Luz laughed, and suddenly that familiar smile returned to her face, "What can I say, Blight? You're still a loser. Just a little less so!"

Amity quickly raised her middle finger in Luz's general direction, but her smile was already ear to ear. She can't quite pinpoint when the shift happened, but she started to like seeing that smile. She liked seeing Luz smile. Not smiling because she just tripped Amity, not smiling like a cocky douchebag who's the social equivalent of a 12 year old on XBox. Amity liked seeing Luz smile because she was happy.

Apparently, being carried up to her apartment was also part of the "I'll carry you" deal, something that Amity had not considered. And something she was even starting to admit that she was enjoying, up until Luz knocked on her door.

Emira was the first to answer.

"Oi, ya missin a Blight sibling?" Luz asked, setting Amity the tomato down.

"I believe we were! What do I owe you?" Emira smirked. She could see the steam leaving Amity's ears.

"No charge, free delivery here," Luz laughed, giving Amity a gentle shove towards the door.

Emira giggled with delight, as Edric peeked his head around the corner, and instantly doubled the embarrassment for Amity, "Well thank you! We will see you around, kind delivery woman!"

Luz flashed the peace sign, "Anytime!"

As Amity began to quickly kick off her shoes and socks, making her way to the door, Luz smirked.

"See you around, loser."

The phone pinging in the middle of the silence gave Amity something other to do other than stare at her ceiling all night. It was an email from Luz. The notes they had missed, from all the classes Amity had skipped.

Amity didn't even question it, instead quickly heading over to her texts.

Thx for the notes.

np loser. Figured ur goody 2 shoes ass would want em.

The goody two shoes you spent all day with.

whatever, ur still a loser. don't make me have to prove anything, blight.

Fuck you, Luz.

:P try me, blight.

Thank you for hanging out with me today.

ur welcome, dumbass. 3 now im goin to bed, make me look at my phone again and im finding a locker 2 stuff u in tomorrow.

Amity groaned softly, pulling her pillow over her face.

She was having a really hard time accepting that she really liked seeing Luz smile. It was just so sweet, so genuine. Her music, as much as it may have rattled the soul out of anyone within 3 feet, it made her smile. It made her happy, it was something to her that made her relax, made her think good things. She smiled when she was carrying her. She smiled when they laughed together, when they joked. Luz was smiling, was happy, because of Amity.

And Amity couldn't hide how much that made her happy.

She is your bully. She is your bully. This shouldn't be making you smile. She tripped you yesterday, she spat on you. She's been a total douche canoe for the last year.

But she smiled around her. She smiled with her. She smiled because of her.

Amity thought back to when Luz was carrying her. There was no hiding, to anyone with a few spare brain cells, that that little interaction made both of them very, very happy. Even if Amity would never admit it.

But she had to. She had to admit it or it was going to keep her up all night.

The more Amity thought, the more she realized what else about Luz made her smile like that. Her eyes, the way she dressed, how casually she joked around, how carefree and dumb she was. The way she sang Amity's highschool anthem, the way she got into it with her, how well they worked together from singing to climbing the rocks. There was just something about every part of Luz that was keeping her up at night, despite everything she had done to her.

Amity was having a really, really hard time trying to hide the fact that she was maybe, probably, within a million years, totally not very, very in love with Luz Fucking Noceda.
