Authors Note: So here's the conclusion for chapter 1. I know this is slightly OOC since Sara & Grissom are two of the most private people on the planet but I thought it was a fun change. I'm thinking about maybe continuing this series, with different stories set with different songs and dances. Reviews are always welcome.
Disclaimer: Nope, I don't own them sadly. I'm just taking them out to play for a while.
Well, you had me from "Hello"
I felt love start to grow the moment I looked into your eyes,
You won me, it was over from the start.
You completely stole my heart, and now you won't let go.
I never even had a chance you know?
You had me from "Hello"
Sara was sipping her beer and listening to Greg and Nick argue over who would win in a fight between Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees. She was grinning to herself as she caught sight of Grissom and Catherine at the bar. She couldn't help but admire him like she did every time she was in the same vicinity as him.
The simple blue button up shirt he wore amplified the blue of his eyes. The top few buttons were undone, giving Sara a slight glimpse of the top of his chest. A chest that she had dreamed about more times than she cared to admit. He had the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his forearms. The way he looked in jeans, something that was a rare sight, just did something to her. His thick head of curls that she day dreamed about running her hands through. His beard. She had lost track of the amount of times she wondered what his beard would feel like on her skin.
Greg nudged her and brought her back to the conversation. She couldn't help but giggle when Nick threw a peanut at Greg as their debate continued over fictional serial killers. She noticed Catherine when she finally arrived back at the booth without Grissom.
"Where's the boss man?" Nick asked as he tossed a peanut in his mouth.
"He's at the bar, being his usual uptight self." Catherine huffed as she sat down beside Warrick.
Sara glanced back over to the bar, noticing that Grissom had turned around on his bar stool and was looking in the direction of their booth. She watched him as he threw back a shot before he got up and she almost swore he was looking right at her as he made his way back toward the group.
When the jukebox began playing a Bon Jovi ballad, Nick jumped up from his seat.
"Hey Sara, c'mon let's dance!" Nick grabbed her hand and pulled her up.
Grissom watched as Nick practically dragged Sara to the dance floor and took her in his arms. He knew that Catherine was right and Sara would eventually grow tired of waiting for him and move on with her life. He was tired of being alone and keeping himself from the one thing he wanted more than anything else in the world, which was Sara Sidle.
Once the song ended, Grissom was on the move to intercept Sara before she could make her way back to the booth. He knew if he didn't act now, he would lose his nerve. He was tired of waiting.
Sara noticed Grissom making his way toward her and the look of determination on his face, one she had seen so many times before when he was dead set on solving a tough case. She stopped in her tracks as he reached her, never taking his blue eyes off of her.
"Sara, would you dance with me?" Grissom asked and Sara could almost swear he looked a little nervous.
"Yes, of course." Sara replied as she took the hand he offered her and let him lead her to the dance floor.
As they took in the exchange before them, the rest of the group watched in stunned silence until Warrick finally spoke up and said "Well I'll be damned."
"I thought the world was going to end before I finally saw that happen." Catherine chuckled as she looked on.
"Well, Greggo. Looks like your dancing days with Sara are over." Nick said as he took his seat and slapped the younger man on the back.
"That doesn't mean anything." Greg waved his hand. "I'll get the next dance."
"Greg, honey, if this ends the way I think it's going to end then Sara's not going to have any dances left for anyone else after tonight." Catherine patted Greg's hand.
Grissom placed his hands on Sara's hips, trying not to let her see that he was shaking slightly. Sara put her hands on his shoulders and gasped slightly when Grissom pulled her flush against his chest. As the song "You Had Me From Hello" by Kenny Chesney started playing, they began to slowly sway to the music.
"I never pegged you for a dancer, Griss." Sara finally spoke as she smiled up at him.
"I'm normally not." Grissom replied with one of those slight smirks that she loved.
"So what's changed then?" Sara asked as she slid her hands around Grissom's neck.
"You." Grissom breathed as he looked into her chocolate eyes.
"Me?" Sara knit her eyebrows together. "What'd I do?"
"You know, this song reminds me of you." Grissom gripped her tighter. "I was completely captivated by you from the very first moment you walked into my lecture all those years ago."
"That makes two of us." Sara grinned at him.
"I wanted you so badly then." Grissom whispered as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"And what about now?" Sara whispered back, glancing at his mouth.
"I have wanted you every day since then, Sara. I was terrified to admit it to myself, let alone to you. I've hid behind my work for so long. I've made excuse after excuse for why we shouldn't be together. You are the most important person in my life and I couldn't bear it if I ever lost you." Grissom replied as he looked into her eyes.
"Griss." Sara choked out on a whisper.
"There is nothing more in this world that I want more than you, Sara." Grissom moved his left hand up to her cheek. "I have wasted so much time. Please tell me that I'm not too late."
"You could never be too late, Gil." Sara tried to keep her tears from falling but failed. She closed her eyes as Grissom wiped her tears away.
Neither of them noticed that the song had ended as they continued staring at each other, completely oblivious to the rest of the world around them. Grissom's thumbs were tracing Sara's cheeks as he lowered his head and captured her lips. Sara responded to his kiss, parting her lips and granting him the entrance he was seeking. The kiss was slow and sensual but deepened after a few moments. The need for air finally forced them apart, with Grissom placing his forehead against Sara's.
"You are exquisite." Grissom whispered against Sara's lips, kissing her again.
They were so lost in each other that they vaguely registered the cat calls and whistles coming from their group of friends, followed by an "Oh man!" from Greg.
"Well." Sara breathed, granting him one of her mega watt smiles. "That was so much better than anything I've ever dreamed of."
"You've dreamed of kissing me, huh?" Grissom raised his brow and gave her one of his boyish grins.
"Oh yeah." Sara nodded then pulled his head back down to her for another kiss.
"Hey!" Nick hollered. "Get a room you two!"
Grissom pulled his head back and then turned to glare at their crew while Sara flipped her middle finger over her shoulder, earning a chorus of laughter from the group behind her.
"I guess we better go and face them." Grissom sighed as he put his arm around Sara, turning them back toward their friends.
"Catherine is going to have a field day with this." Sara grinned as they walked back to the booth.
