The rivalry between Franco and Zac come to a head when Franco decides to challenge Zac to a rugby game. They come to blows, resulting in Peppermint Patty not talking to her boyfriend and tending to Zac who sports a black eye due to the fight. Franco is despondent over his girlfriend being upset. 5. Chapter 5

CHAPTER 5: ANOTHER SLEEPLESS NIGHT

Franco was up again at night while everyone else was sleeping. He watched some TV and had a snack with Snoopy, who had joined him around midnight before going back out to sleep. Sometime, he was watching an old horror movie, when Jadan walked in.

"Franco?" she said. "Y' want some company?"

"Are you sure?" asked Franco. "After what I did to your friend, you sure you want to be around me?"

"What happened between you an' Zac is just that: between you an' Zac. Andrew feels th' same way, even though they're best friends." Jadan sat down next to Franco. "What are y' watchin'?"

"Old horror movie."

"I like these. Franco, I know Patty's mad at you right now, but don't let it ruin y' trip 'ere in Australia. From what Marcie told me, she will be upset for a while. And everyone else, myself included, understands what Zac tried to pull. Andrew told me he had a talk with Zac after yer fight an' told 'im t' back off Patty. He knew that Zac liked her, but said he was ruining things with you an' her an' that she wasn't talkin' t' you because she seemed to care more about him than you."

"Will he back off, Jadan?"

"I don't know. Hopefully he took what Drew had t' say t' heart. Th' ball's in his court now."

"Danke, Jadan."

"You're welcome, mate. "You should get some shut-eye. Tomorrow's a new day." She gave Franco a friendly kiss on the cheek before heading back to bed. "Goodnight, Franco."

"Gute Nacht, Jadan."

Next time, Peppermint Patty continues to give Franco the cold shoulder due to the fight between him and Zac. And speaking of Zac, despite what everyone else had told him, he and Patty actually gets closer, prompting Franco to make a fateful decision.
