"Oh no, here we go again
Fighting over what I said
I'm sorry
Yeah I'm sorry
Bad at love, no, I'm not good at this
But I can't say I'm innocent
Not hardly
But I'm sorry"
He should have known that the appearance of Teri Miller in the lab was going to cause problems. Of course their crew knew about their relationship but for the sake of keeping Ecklie off their backs, no one else in the lab knew about them.
Grissom wasn't aware that Teri had been called in to assist on a case until she was standing in his office. He was knee deep in paperwork so he didn't even notice her until it was too late. By the time he realized what was happening, she was taking the seat across from his desk.
"Hello Gil." The blonde greeted him with a smile.
"Teri, what are you doing here?" Grissom asked in surprise as he removed his glasses.
"Conrad requested my services." Teri smiled at him. "His team found some remains buried in a garage and need me to help them put it all back together again."
"Well it's always nice to see you." Grissom replied, trying to keep his tone friendly.
"It's always nice to been seen by you, Gil." Teri leaned closer to his desk with a seductive smile.
"Hey Griss, I have a question." Sara's voice came from the hallway just as she entered his office with some papers in her hand.
Grissom's eyes shot to the door and he knew the moment Sara realized who else was in the room. He watched the smile fall from her face to be replaced with what he could only describe as disdain.
"Teri. I didn't know you were here." Sara eyed the blonde woman who was practically sitting on top of Grissom's desk.
"Ecklie called her in for a day shift case." Grissom spoke up quickly just as Teri turned to Sara.
"Gil and I were just catching up." Teri smiled at Sara.
"Right." Sara nodded then turned around and started out of his office.
"I thought you had a question." Grissom tried to keep the panic out of his voice. He knew exactly what was running through her mind.
"I'll ask Catherine." Sara mumbled as she walked out of his office.
"And all my friends, they know and it's true
I don't know who I am without you
I got it bad, baby
Got it bad"
"So Gil." Teri continued on. "It looks like I'll be in town for a few days if you would like to have dinner sometime."
"Oh, uh, I'm not sure Teri." Grissom cleared his throat. "We have a pretty extensive caseload at the moment and as you can see, I'm covered up in paperwork."
"Well I'm sure you won't be here at the lab every minute of the day." Teri purred as she stood up. "You have my number if you change your mind."
"Teri, I won't be changing my mind." Grissom replied easily.
"Oh, and why is that?" Teri stopped before she reached his door and arched an eyebrow at him.
"Because I'm seeing someone. It's serious and I'm very much in love with her." Grissom answered her with a small smile.
"Well she must be very special if she can tear you away from your work, Gil Grissom." Teri replied.
"She is." Grissom's smile almost split his face in two.
Teri nodded and made her way out of Grissom's office as he leaned back in his chair and released a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. He had a history with Teri Miller and he knew that Sara's mind was probably playing out a thousand different scenarios right about now after seeing Teri in his office. He rose from his chair as he went in search of Sara.
"Oh, tell me you love me
I need someone
On days like this, I do
On days like this
Oh, tell me you love me
I need someone
On days like this, I do
On days like this
Oh, can you hear my heart say?
(Ooh-ooh, oh, oh-ooh-ohh-ooh)
No, you ain't nobody 'til you got somebody
You ain't nobody 'til you got somebody"
"I swear if the door hadn't still been open, she probably would have climbed right on top of his desk." Sara huffed as she slammed her water bottle down on the break room table.
"Sara, you know Griss is crazy about you." Catherine replied with a smirk. "He's not going to do anything with Teri Miller."
"Yeah, well try telling her that cause I don't think she got the memo." Sara snapped.
"Tell who what?" Nick questioned as he walked into the break room.
"Grissom's favorite forensic anthropologist is in town." Sara answered as she peeled at the label on her water bottle.
"Teri Miller?" Nick threw a questioning look at Catherine as he poured a cup of coffee then joined the women at the table.
"The one and only." Sara mumbled as she finally ripped the label from her water bottle and wadded it up.
"Oh c'mon Sara." Nick rubbed her shoulder. "I don't think you have anything to worry about with Grissom and Teri Miller."
"Nicky's right." Catherine took a sip of her coffee. "Put you and Teri in a room together with Gil and he won't even notice her."
"I dunno." Sara finally looked up from the table. "Teri Miller is everything that I am not. He used to be infatuated with her and now here she is again."
"Sara, anybody can take one look at Grissom when he's in the same room as you and see that he's head over heels for you." Nick took her hand in his. "There's a big difference in infatuation and love."
Grissom stopped at the entrance to the break room and took in the scene before him. He knew Sara was upset. He also knew she had a jealous streak at times, especially when it came to women that he had been romantically interested in before he finally gave in to his feelings for her.
Finally walking into the break room, he cleared his throat as he spoke up. "Sara, can we please talk in my office?"
"Are you and Teri done with your conversation?" Sara huffed.
"Sara!" Catherine scolded in a whisper.
"Fine." Sara sighed.
She rose from the table and made her way out of the break room with Grissom right behind her.
"And I hope I never see the day
That you move on and be happy without me
Without me
Oh, what's my hand without your heart to hold?
I don't know what I'm living for
If I'm living
Without you, ooh"
When they entered his office, he closed the door behind them and locked it. Then he closed the blinds on his office windows.
"What is it Grissom?" Sara faced him with her arms crossed over her chest. He couldn't help but let his eyes drift over the tight jeans and red tank top she wore that hid the body he knew like the back of his hand.
"What are you upset about?" Grissom asked gently as he sat on the edge of his desk and eyed her, noticing how she kept her eyes on the floor.
"Let me guess." Sara threw a glance at him. "She wants to have dinner with you."
"She did." Grissom replied with a nod. "However, it's not going to happen."
Sara finally looked at him while she chewed on her lip, something that Grissom knew she did when she was nervous.
"I told her I'm very much involved with someone." Grissom pushed himself off his desk and approached her.
"You did?" Sara finally looked into his eyes.
"I did." Grissom nodded as he wrapped his arms around her waist and walked her back toward the closed door. "I also told her that I'm very much in love."
"Y-you did?" Sara repeated in surprise as her back hit the door.
"Uh huh." Grissom mumbled as he looked into her chocolate eyes. "I am, you know?"
"You are what?" Sara asked dumbly, suddenly entranced by his mouth.
"Very much in love." Grissom whispered. "With you."
"Oh, tell me you love me (ooh)
I need someone
On days like this, I do
On days like this
Oh, tell me you love me
I need someone
On days like this, I do
On days like this
Oh, can you hear my heart say?"
He didn't wait for her words as he bent his head and touched his lips to hers. Sara responded by wrapping her arms around his neck and opening her mouth to him to deepen the kiss. When the need for air finally forced them apart, Grissom pulled back slightly to look into Sara's eyes.
"How could you ever believe that I would want to spend my time with a woman who is not you?" Grissom asked as he trailed kisses down her cheek and neck.
"You spent time with her before." Sara mumbled.
"We had dinner once. That's it, honey." Grissom kissed her lips again.
"It just makes me crazy to see women like her around you. I know what they're thinking because I think it too." Sara sighed as she leaned her head back against his office door.
"And what would that be?" Grissom smirked as he drug his lips across her exposed neck.
"How bad I want to take you home and rip all of your clothes off and take you to bed." Sara bit her lip as she looked down at him through hooded eyes.
"Well honey, it is almost the end of shift." Grissom pulled back and gave her a wolfish grin. "Then you can take me home and do whatever you want to me."
Sara gave him a small smile and he knew she was still bothered by Teri's visit to his office.
"Sara, darling you are it for me. You are the only one I will ever want. There is no one else on this earth that I want more than you." Grissom looked into her eyes and made sure she understood what he was saying. "You are the love of my life."
"Well, when you put it like that." Sara gave him her full Sidle smile. "Don't plan on sleeping any time soon when you get home."
She gave him a sultry look as she kissed him one last time before unlocking his office door and walking out. Grissom watched as she left, his eyes drawn to her perfect ass. He turned on his heel, grabbing his keys and briefcase from his desk before hurrying after her.
"Everything I need (ohh)
Is standing in front of me (ohh)
I know that we will be
Alright, alright, yeah
Through the ups and downs (downs)
Baby, I'ma stick around (ohh)
I promise we will be
Alright, alright"
