Cherryfall was asleep in her bed as she was in a very comfortable position. She was enjoying the slumber but the slumber wasn't going to last. The move was about to come and that meant one thing, packing up and heading back out. Cherryfall felt something nudge her as it was Blossomfall waking her up.
"Come on Cherryfall, it's time to get up. We're heading on out as we need to get on the road. Everything's been packed up and Molewhisker and the others are waiting on us." Blossomfall began. Cherryfall lazily rolled over as she looked at Blossomfall and yawned.
"It's four thirty in the morning, why the early start?" She asked. Blossomfall looked at her as she knew now was the time to get up.
"Yeah we need to." Blossomfall responded as Cherryfall finally got up. "You can sleep in the truck if you're still tired." Cherryfall and Blossomfall lumbered out of the room as Cherryfall was still tired but Blossomfall was willing to go at the speed her friend was comfortable with. Cherryfall knew she was going to miss Florida.
Once to the truck, Molewhisker was waiting outside to make sure everyone was accounted for. Cherryfall was loaded in as Molewhisker had a surprise for Blossomfall.
"I know that we are having a good time and I wanted to make sure you enjoyed yesterday as much as I did." Molewhisker began. Blossomfall nodded as Molewhisker continued to speak. "This is for you." He handed her the dolphin plush he got yesterday as a present for Blossomfall.
"Thank you. I guess." Blossomfall mewed as she knew that she was thankful for him providing something for her. Molewhisker nodded as he hopped into the truck as Blossomfall went over to her side. She got in and placed the dolphin on the dashboard. "We're all ready to go?" She asked.
"Yeah we should be." Ivypool mewed as her seatbelt was buckled in. Blossomfall nodded as they took off for their next destination.
Within minutes, Cherryfall fell asleep and so did Molewhisker and Ivypool as it was still pretty early in the morning for them. They drove on through as they were now beginning the climb back up to where they started from. The sun began rising from the opposite end of the car now as they were now making the trek back north. The day of the vacation had ended but the night still had a few hours left. It was about four hours later when the cats in the rear of the truck began to stir as they were now out of Florida and into Georgia.
"Did you promise those peaches that we're going to get?" Dovewing asked as she wanted to bring that all up again. Blossomfall grumbled as she knew she needed to keep Dovewing happy. There was no rush to get back home as it will take a couple of days to accomplish.
"Okay." Blossomfall nodded as she knew she was going to remember that. But now, they needed breakfast. "We need something to eat so we don't complain about hunger later on. Also we need to use a bathroom so what is everyone's poison?" Blossomfall asked as she wanted to see what everyone was in the mood for.
"Eh. I don't know." Molewhisker responded as he yawned again.
"So bagels?" Blossomfall asked if that was what everyone wanted.
"Sure, why not, get a few things while there as well so we don't complain about hunger." Cherryfall responded as she could go for anything. Driving through Georgia seemed to be like a fun adventure. Spotting an exit, Blossomfall drove up and got onto the exit as they were going to pick up some breakfast and continue on their way.
"Good, there is a place not too far away. If anyone needs to use the bathroom, do it now." Blossomfall told the others that they would need to relieve themselves before the journey would continue. The cats got out of the car as they began to make their way into the store as Blossomfall went to get breakfast for them as well as drinks. The others went in to go use the bathrooms.
"Yeah we're in Georgia and Dovewing is going to nag us for fuzzies. Don't know where we should pick up said fuzzies while we're driving on through?" Ivypool asked as she came out of the bathroom as Molewhisker had finished his trip.
"Well we weren't in Georgia for very long when we came on the way down but we should be going through more of it on the way to Tennessee. We might even bump into Atlanta if we drive on through though I don't know how bad the traffic in that city is going to be." Molewhisker replied as he was punching the route into his phone on where they were going to stay.
"I don't know either but if we do drive we might as well be heading on through the mountains and that will hamper our signal to the outside world." Ivypool replied as Poppyfrost came out of the bathroom.
"I see you two are chatting about where are we going next. Pick out some drinks for breakfast as we are going to have the long haul." Poppyfrost told them as they went to the drink section and began picking out drinks. Poppyfrost decided to take over for Blossomfall and Honeyfern as she began speaking to the one behind the counter. "Excuse me, but do you know any place where we can pick up some fuzzies along the way since we're in Georgia?" Poppyfrost asked as she was now taking their breakfast.
"Peaches? There's a place forty miles away if you're going up to Atlanta right off of exit sixty four I believe, turn right and that's the place right there." He mewed as he wrote down the directions.
"Oh perfect, so we're heading into the Atlanta area?" She asked if that was if she wanted to make sure about that.
"You can go around but that really isn't going to save much time but it's a good alternate route if you don't want to deal with the annoyance of traffic lights." He responded as Poppyfrost grabbed the bag.
"Thank you so much. I appreciate it." Poppyfrost responded as she went to the counter to pay up. Some of the cats had jumped back into the truck as they were still discussing what they were going to do.
"So going on through the mountains might as well be the best thing we could do if we're going to avoid Atlanta altogether as Blossomfall isn't keen on driving through highly populated areas when there is traffic." Ivypool mewed as she was reading the phone on the best possible route they can drive along.
"So mountains it is?" Molewhisker asked if that was going to be the case.
"Yep." Ivypool mewed her answer. Poppyfrost and Blossomfall came out as they were carrying the bags of breakfast and drinks.
"They didn't have bagels but they had breakfast rolls that had eggs, bacon, hash brown potatoes and cheese on them, I bet they're good." Blossomfall mewed as she started the truck back up and began to drive away. Within moments they were back on the highway and they were now on their way once more. Poppyfrost was handing out the drinks and rolls out for the cats to eat. Ivypool took hers and began unwrapping the foil that was used to keep the roll warm. She then took a bite out of it to see how it tasted.
"These are good. Try it for yourself, Molewhisker." Ivypool told Molewhisker to take a bite out of his. Molewhisker did so as it tasted good.
You're right, these are good." Molewhisker giggled as he continued eating. Poppyfrost then turned to Blossomfall as she gave her the piece of paper.
"What's this for?" Blossomfall asked as she wanted to figure out what was going on.
"This is for the fuzzies, we kind of want to make Dovewing happy so she won't cry for fuzzies." Poppyfrost replied as she was punching the route to get there. "It's on the way where we need to be so that's a good thing."
"Okay we'll make the detour." Blossomfall sighed as she didn't want to waste any more time. Now they needed to get Dovewing her peaches.
Blossomfall wasn't too thrilled about making the detour as this was going to kill off some time. The others weren't thrilled either as they wanted to be in their hotel room by nightfall and it looked like they weren't going to be granted that wish as they were going to have to make several stops along the way. Blossomfall drove off exit sixty four as Poppyfrost was helping her out. Turning right, they pulled into the spot where the peaches were rumored to be. Poppyfrost, Honeyfern, Dovewing and Blossomfall all got out of the truck as Ivypool and the others were staying behind and the cats made their way into the shop.
"Finally!" Dovewing sighed as she had been waiting for this moment for much of the trip. They began looking around as they were looking for the peaches. Dovewing spotted them as she picked them up. "Okay now I should be completely happy and…" Dovewing paused as she spotted the others doing some shopping of their own. "I thought we were just getting fuzzies?"
"Well they got mini pecan pies, onion strings because I know Molewhisker would like those. We already got Dovewing her pecans so let's get more of those. Also, Dovewing, they have fresh ice-cream, you want some?" Poppyfrost asked. Dovewing looked at her if she wanted something fresh.
"Okay, I will try it." Dovewing shrugged as they were getting a lot more stuff than what they needed to get. Honeyfern was trying a sample of boiled peanuts and she decided to get some of those as well.
"These peanuts are good, I'm getting some." Honeyfern mewed before she felt something building up in her again, within a moment, she sneezed.
"Bless you, are you feeling okay Honeyfern?" Blossomfall asked as she helped her get some of the peanuts.
"Not really, I feel like I have a cold coming on, I could have used a full night's sleep." Honeyfern mewed as she knew that she was coming down with something.
"Okay when we get to the stop let's see if we can find you some medicine to help cure you of your cold before it spreads to everyone else." Blossomfall mewed as their list of things they needed was growing but progress would be progress as the cats went up to the front and began paying.
"Okay some of your homemade strawberry ice-cream?" Dovewing asked as she wanted to try that out.
"Okay." The cat working at the register mewed as it rang everything up. Once done, Blossomfall paid as she grabbed the bag while Honeyfern was sniffling and Dovewing carried her ice-cream to the truck. They got back on as Blossomfall began driving off once more.
"Hey this ice-cream is very good, it's strawberry flavored." Dovewing began as she was enjoying it. It was clear she wasn't going to have all of it as there were three spoons in there.
"You better not eat it all, that is for three cats. I think others would like to try some as well." Honeyfern told Dovewing to share. She then sneezed again.
"I think your cold is getting worse Honeyfern but the good news is that we're on our way home." Poppyfrost was concerned that her sister was getting sick. Once Dovewing had her fill, she passed it to the back for Ivypool to try some.
"Yeah it tastes like strawberries had been mixed into the cream." Dovewing described what it tasted like. Ivypool nodded as she took a scoop of it herself and tasted it. Molewhisker grabbed the other free spoon as he tried some for himself.
"I like vanilla better than Strawberry but this is good regardless of my opinion." Molewhisker replied as he and Ivypool were sharing their serving. Cherryfall was still asleep in her seat as she was missing out on everything. "Should we wake her up?"
"Nah. She'll be curious." Ivypool mewed as they continued to eat. They were now rumbling down to the Atlanta area as Blossomfall looked at the route she was going.
"I'm not going through this city directly, I'm going around it." Blossomfall eagerly mewed. She moved the truck to the right side as she was going to head around the outskirts. Getting off the exit, she headed onto another route.
The highway was crowded as she drove along the route that was going to head on through the mountains. Molewhisker and the others were asleep again as they had taken to being comfortable with each other. Honeyfern was asleep as well as Blossomfall continued to drive. Poppyfrost got out her phone to see who was up to chat with.
"No… no… no…" Poppyfrost mewed to herself as she scrolled through the phone trying to relieve some boredom. She then turned to Blossomfall as she was still bored out of her mind. "So we're still going to have a far drive right?" Poppyfrost asked if this was going to be the case.
"Yeah. We still have a far drive, though we're running low on fuel again." Blossomfall mewed again as she spotted another exit. She decided to pull the truck off as they were going to make the stop there to take on more fuel before they resumed their drive. Poppyfrost got out as the others had woken up from their nap. Molewhisker and the others got out as Poppyfrost was cleaning up any garbage.
"Any of you need to use the bathroom let me know and do it now." Poppyfrost told them as the cats wandered into the gas station to relieve themselves. Molewhisker and Ivypool were the first in and out as they were looking for stuff to keep them awake as they had been pretty sleepy for much of the trip.
"So what should we get to keep ourselves from sleeping as we just keep sleeping?" Ivypool asked as she wanted to see what they could do to keep themselves awake. Molewhisker looked around as he had no ideas.
"Well what is there for us to really do, all we do is sleep right?" Molewhisker responded. He began to scour the isles for something to get as the others were doing their business. Ivypool spotted something as this grabbed her attention.
"Hey, there's slushies here, want to get a couple and see how they taste?" Ivypool asked as Molewhisker seemed enthusiastic.
"Yeah, I want to try some." Molewhisker replied. Ivypool nodded as she began to fill up a couple of cups so she could pay for them. Once done, the two cats wandered over as Ivypool began to pay them up. Meanwhile Poppyfrost was outside as she was arranging everything as well as getting the truck fueled.
"Well we should be there at sunset and depending on how everyone else is doing and the town we're in will dictate what we will do tomorrow and if conditions aren't favorable, we continue on home." Poppyfrost told Blossomfall as she was paying up the money for the gas.
"Yeah everyone is pretty much exhausted at this point so we're going to continue driving home." Blossomfall responded as the others came out and began boarding the truck. "I see everyone is now happy and ready to keep going?"
"Yeah!" The others cheered. Blossomfall nodded as they all loaded back up into the truck and began to drive off. They were going to tackle the mountains now. Molewhisker was drinking his slushy that he got as he turned to Ivypool.
"Onion?" He offered her as he was snacking on his.
"No thanks." Ivypool mewed as they kept feeling the hum of the highway go through their paws. Ivypool was drinking her drink when she noticed something odd. "Hey Molewhisker, you think these are different compared to Seven-Eleven Slushies? Like the ice is together, meanwhile this ice is chunky so the flavoring isn't well mixed in the ice so we're just drinking straight up flavor?"
"Yeah I noticed that." Molewhisker responded as he began sucking up the ice cubes.
"Yeah I think I want to go back to sleep." Ivypool mewed as she wanted some more sleep.
"As to I, goodnight." Molewhisker teased. Cherryfall looked to her right but it wasn't time to go to sleep.
"But…" Cherryfall began. However before she could continue. Ivypool and Molewhisker were out cold. No point to reason with them now. Honeyfern knew they were out again and sneezed again, she was indeed coming down with something.
"Yeah Honeyfern's getting sick." Poppyfrost told Blossomfall as she knew she was coming down with something. They were now heading into the mountains as the lowlands were behind them The winding mountain road now lay ahead.
North Carolina would come as they were now driving through the mountains, the seven cats seemed bored and with nothing to do. Poppyfrost sighed as she was looking at the road ahead and then her phone began to buzz. Someone was trying to get to them as Poppyfrost picked up the phone.
"Hello?" Poppyfrost began.
"Yeah It's Jayfeather, where are you?" Jayfeather began as he was trying to contact her.
"We're in North Carolina, heading home from our vacation, is there something you need?" Poppyfrost asked as she was wondering what Jayfeather needed.
"Nothing much but I saw the posts by Honeyfern and I got excited, did you do anything exciting while you were gone?" Jayfeather asked if Poppyfrost and her friends did anything exciting while they were away.
"Well we went to the beach for a week as we contacted Thunderstar and Violet Dawn as we stayed with them for a few days. Went to an amusement park for a couple of days, relaxed and went to a cove like result and swam with the dolphins just yesterday, either we'll spend a couple more days out or go home, at this point Honeyfern is getting sick and we're just all very tired at this point." Poppyfrost mewed as she laid out what they did during their vacation.
"That's great, so I wanted to check on you to see what you are…" Poppyfrost was cut off from Jayfeather after he said a few words.
"Hello?" Poppyfrost spoke into the phone, silence. "We lost connection."
"Mountains probably." Blossomfall mewed as they continued to drive into a small town. Then Poppyfrost's phone began to ring again as if it was Jayfeather.
"Okay we can have some connection but what were you trying to tell me?" Poppyfrost asked as she wanted to figure out what Jayfeather wanted to say.
"Yeah, what I was trying to tell you was that I wanted to see how you were doing. I see you're fine and anything else you want to chat about let me know or text me." Jayfeather told Poppyfrost that if they wanted to chat but not have a shotty signal, texting was the better option.
"Okay, talk to you when we get home." Poppyfrost mewed as she hung up. Molewhisker and Ivypool woke up as they were looking around.
"How long were we out?" Molewhisker asked as he wanted to figure out how long they were asleep for.
"About another hour, I hope this is the last time you two will sleep." We're going through the mountains so keep your eyes open." Blossomfall responded as she didn't want the two of them to be sleeping again while they were going through some breathtaking scenery.
"Hey look at the cats in their rafts." Molewhisker began as he spotted some kits having fun in the creek. The young cats were drifting down the creek in their rafts as they were enjoying themselves.
"I wonder if we can play down there one day as well?" Ivypool asked as she wondered what it felt like to be young.
"If you want to relive old memories, we can sure do that but if we get lives of our own." Molewhisker responded as he looked to his left. "Hey, is that a tank?" He asked. The truck stopped as there was a red light ahead and they were stuck.
"Yeah it is, take a picture of it." Ivypool mewed as Molewhisker got out his phone and began snapping pictures of the tank as they slowly drove past it as well as a few other things that the storage area had to offer.
"How did they come out?" Poppyfrost asked as Molewhisker was taking a few pictures. Molewhisker passed to her his phone as Poppyfrost began looking at the pictures. "Nice. Let me get a few." She passed Molewhisker back his phone as she began snapping pictures of her own of what she could get. The town was now behind them and it was off to the mountains, there was no looking back.
The climb up the mountains was going to be a long one as there was thankfully no traffic along this route as they were climbing up the road. The others were bored as they were keeping a lookout for anything interesting they might see. Molewhisker was watching the creek flow against them as they climbed the mountain. This raised the question in his head.
"Can we live out here like this?" Molewhisker asked as he seemed curious about if the remote forest would be doable compared to a big city.
"It'll be hard but we like our big city luxuries. So we can't. It's fun to come out here every once in a while but you'll miss stuff like writing everyday and friends, what about your friends?" Poppyfrost asked as she wasn't giving up city life to move to the back country with no one around.
"I understand the need to get out and get away for a while but you'll be lonely." Honeyfern nodded before she sneezed again.
"Yeah you're getting sick." Poppyfrost mewed as she was getting concerned. The truck would continue climbing the mountain until they reached the top and began driving along.
"Look at the mountains around us." Cherryfall mewed as she looked out to the left as the truck continued to twist and wind its way along the road.
"We're at the top of the world! Woo!" Molewhisker shouted with excitement as he was enjoying the trip to the top, nothing was going to stop them now.
"You want to hop out and get a picture?" Blossomfall asked the three cats in the back if they wanted a picture taken of them.
"Yeah that will be great." Molewhisker responded. The truck continued to drive along the twisting road when they spotted a parking lot and decided to get off of it.
"Newfound Parking gap. Say hello to Tennessee!" Blossomfall called out as she pulled into the parking lot. She then parked in the truck as she wanted a few pictures of the mountains as well as their group. The cats began to get out as they wanted some pictures with the group. The doors opened as the cats began to get out of the truck and they began to gather at the ledge as many other cats were getting photos of the area around them. "Get out of the truck, Dovewing." Blossomfall hissed as she took her phone away from her as she wanted some pictures.
"Why?" Dovewing groaned as she had been ignoring everything and just texting away.
"We need some pictures." Blossomfall told Dovewing as she wanted her to begin snapping photos of them.
"Okay." Dovewing groaned as she hopped on out. Blossomfall brought them all to the edge where the mountains were looking out ahead of them, they didn't know how high they were or what was crossing them. Once they were all in their group, Blossomfall got them together as she held the phone to all of their faces squished together.
"Smile." Blossomfall mewed before she snapped the photo with her phone. Now was the time for additional photos as Ivypool and Molewhisker refused to leave their sides. "Okay now be happy." Blossomfall snapped another picture as Cherryfall came in next to be with her brother. Blossomfall snapped another picture and as more cats came along to change their places as well as a couple of solo pictures, they spent ten minute getting pictures as the cats were now satisfied with what they had collected.
"Well we got what we needed so onward I guess?" Poppyfrost asked as they all loaded back into the truck.
"Yep, now we're heading our way down the mountain." Blossomfall responded. The truck then began to make its way out of the parking lot and down the mountain. They had a long drive today and needed the rest.
The winding road down would be a much easier task than climbing up as they were now descending down into the town. Once they reached the town, the cats noticed that they weren't going to spend the day there.
"Oh starclan, this place is crowded!" Honeyfern mewed before she sneezed again. Blossomfall nodded as she was right. Pulling up, she knew she was going to let Honeyfern off here as there was a pharmacy there.
"Yeah I know, let's see if they have any medicine for that cold of yours. Are you sure you can make the hike up to the hotel that we're staying in?" Blossomfall asked if Honeyfern was capable of making her way up.
"I'm sure I'll be fine in what I need." Honeyfern mewed as she knew that the hill wasn't going to bring her down.
"Okay we'll be up the hill." Blossomfall mewed as she turned to the back. "Molewhisker, accompany Honeyfern while we get the hotel room." Molewhisker nodded as he and Honeyfern got out. They headed into the pharmacy as Blossomfall took the truck up to go get themselves checked in.
Honeyfern was looking around to see what she needed as Molewhisker was stretching his paws out as he had been cooped up in the truck for too long. Picking out a few things, they began to make their way to the register as Molewhisker began talking to her.
"You sure you can hike your way to the hotel?" Molewhisker asked Honeyfern if she was going to make the journey up.
"I'm sure, I can be able to do this but I appreciate you coming along to help me." Honeyfern mewed as the cat at the register began ringing everything up,
"Hopefully the climb isn't that far as I don't want to rip my paw up again." Molewhisker mewed as he didn't want to damage his pads.
"I hope so as well." Honeyfern responded as she paid up for her stuff. Once everything was in a bag. Blossomfall texted them the hotel. Feeling grateful, they began to make the long hike up to the hotel.
"I was right, the streets are crowded, I don't know if I wanted to tell you this." Honeyfern began as Molewhisker was carrying her stuff up. Heading to the hotel, Molewhisker began thinking about it despite his limping.
"Yeah there is no way we could stay in this mess, Blossomfall is ordering out again as we're going to get up early and head for home I bet." Molewhisker replied as he wasn't certain about it.
"Yeah we should probably try finding some way to make you feel better but the faster we can get home the faster we should be able to cure you of your cold." Molewhisker replied as they kept hiking up the hill. They then spotted the hotel after a few minutes of climbing up as they then began walking over. "There it is." Molewhisker told Honeyfern as they began heading to the hotel. Once they got inside, Blossomfall was just finished checking them in as she spotted them.
"Just in time, we got ourselves checked in and I just ordered dinner so we're good." Blossomfall mewed as the cats went over to the elevator and boarded. "Fourth floor, the first two rooms to the left are where we are staying." Blossomfall would tell them as she wanted to see where they were going.
"Okay good." Honeyfern responded. She then felt something coming on to her, she turned away as she feared spreading it to the others. Honeyfern then sneezed.
"Bless you." Poppyfrost told Honeyfern as she sniffled.
"Thank you." Honeyfern would snort as she needed a tissue. The elevator doors would open as the cats then made their way inside. They went to the left as they got out their key card and popped them into the door. Once done, the doors opened as Molewhisker knew he had work to do before tomorrow morning. The journey back would continue tomorrow.
The next afternoon would roll around because the narrator wanted to finish this project a half a month ago, the roar of the truck came down the street as they knew they were home. Exhausted from their vacation, the cats unpacked as they began to settle down into the home they were familiar with.
"How was that?" Blossomfall asked as Molewhisker was eager to hook himself up to an outlet to begin work.
"Well that was an excellent vacation. We had lots of fun." Cherryfall would call out with excitement.
"Well we can finally rest and I can go home after this cold." Honeyfern mewed as she slumped down onto the couch.
"Yeah, hopefully we should be able to plan what we want to do for the rest of the summer…" Poppyfrost paused as she smelled smoke coming from a random direction. "Smells like something's burning." She turned as Molewhisker had unplugged his charger from the laptop and was wiping the smoke away.
"Well, the charger for the laptop has melted." Molewhisker would conclude the vacation as they were all fine, except for the charger.
[A/N]: Finally this is finished. I am exhausted and this has fallen behind schedule as I wanted this done within the middle of the month but life happened and I got held up and needed to recharge. Hopefully I can begin the next project very quickly as I was planning that for a while and needed to get the characters together for it. Don't know how long it will be as I'm doing it in one go.
