A few hours later...

The small (by military standards) party were on their way to the gates most of the team were awestruck at the magnificence of old architecture whilst some claim to prefer the cities of Pyrrhus. "So this is what humanity lost to the great war?" Asked the captain dismay clear in his voice "as great as this castle is I believe most of Its kind were destroyed long before the resource war" answered the colonel. Some may say that guard duty is truly as bad and boring as it gets and on any given day Meril would agree with you. It wasn't much fun to stand for hours in the desert and whilst the occasional skirmish with the local banditry brightened up one's day the most real danger the gate guards ever faced was a drunk knight or a ticked-off mercenary. However, today was different from the others today whilst Meril stood guard she began hearing the sounds of something approaching quite rapidly, and then she saw clouds of dust on the horizon growing closer and closer in minutes she could make out the shape of the approaching thing... in another instant, her heart nearly stopped for she saw that approaching at a speed thought impossible by even the mages towards them came creatures of darkness men made of steel plate with glowing orbs for eyes she was so stunned she didn't even notice that said entities were mere feet in front of her. The colonel stared at a petrified guard from what he could tell she was a young human which confused him greatly "S-stop right there" the guard shouted her fear palpable "hello human... we require passage into your little fort. NOW" the colonel said in his usual calm yet threatening demeanor "N-no way. Who-whatever you are. are stepping a foot into our kingdom" Meril replied eyes wide gripping her unsheathed sword with a white knuckle grip "I don't believe you understand the situation" colonel radec said as he suddenly lifted Meril by her neck until she was at eye level with him "by order of autarch visary you will grant us entry at once or you will simply be no longer able to deny my force passage" he growled "fine s-so be it go right through sir" Meril chocked out pleading. She was immediately dropped to the floor as the Helghast opened the gates the scouts laughing at her. In the kingdom now it was a rather odd sight for the Helghast. people walking in the streets, children playing, the markets noise and the church bells all filled their eyes and ears "I feel like Kratek at the zoo" whispered one of the scouts. They left the ATV's behind there simply wasn't enough room for them in the city streets. As they entered town it fell dead silent people rushed into their houses and vendors cautiously observed. The team approached a man standing by a cart of vegetables "a rare sight" commented the captain to the anxious-looking farmer "how much for all of it?" "Oh, my good sir for all the vegetables? 250 gold pieces" "GOLD?! AS IN THE RARE YELLOW METAL?" a shocked captain asked in pure bewilderment "Y-yes sir as you surely know everything has a price here" "this is an issue..." said Radec, "say where could one go to get gold?" "The tavern is a place where one can always find work" the vendor growing scared and confused by the second answered. The team approached a building "what does that even say?" A scout called out at a sign in front of the said building "it looks like Vektan" another scout said, "can anyone here read Vektan?" "Yes," another scout piped up, "the sign says "The Thirsty Mimic Tavern" "guess this is the place".
