On with the show!
"Sam," Dean said, gently nudging his sleeping brother.
Sam made a small sound and pulled his blanket over his face.
"Saaaaaaammy?"
"No."
"Come on, Mom had to go in early today which means I gotta get your butt ready for Dad to take to school."
"I don't wanna go to school."
Dean scoffed. "No one wants to go to school."
Sam groaned and rolled over on his side.
"Hey," Dean said, poking Sam in his back, "I'll make chocolate chip waffles."
Sam slowly removed the blanket from his face and looked up at Dean. "With whipped cream?"
"If you move fast enough."
Sam leaped from his bed over to his dresser and started picking out his clothes. Dean went into the bathroom and got the first aid kit out.
"Don't forget! We gotta clean your face!"
"I'm coming!" Sam said, running down the hall as he was pulling his shirt over his head. Sam insisted on cleaning his face himself, but it was on the bottom of his chin and he couldn't see it at the angle. He sat on the toilet while Dean pulled off the old bandaid and threw it in the trash, wiping the dried blood with the cloth. The accident happened a week ago but this scrap was taking forever to heal. Dean smacked the bandaid, this time it was a superman bandaid, on Sam's chin.
"Brush your teeth. I'll go make breakfast."
"I want two waffles!" Sam said excitedly.
"Are you going to eat two waffles?"
Sam nodded with determination.
"Alright, two waffles."
While Sam was upstairs getting ready, Dean made his way to the kitchen, pulling the Eggos box out of the freezer and throwing two waffles in the toaster. The toaster dinged just as Sam came into the kitchen. Dean put the waffles on a plate, with a small amount of whipped cream, and threw two more waffles in the toaster.
The two boys ate breakfast as Sam babbled about what his day at school was going to be like and Dean was forced to listen, not able to get a single word in while Sam was babbling.
John showed up and took the boys to school and all was well.
During recess, Sam went to the bathroom. He came out of the stall to see two boys standing on the other side of the door.
"Hiya Sammy," one of them said.
"Leave me alone," Sam said, remember what his parents taught him about standing up to bullies.
"Aww we just want to play a game with you," the second one said.
"I don't want to play."
"Too bad. Not a choice."
Sam tried to go back into the stall and close the door, but they beat him to it. Each one grabbed an arm and carried him over to one of the bathroom sinks.
"My sister taught me this game," the first one said again. "It's called Bloody Mary."
"I don't want to play!" Sam screamed, kicking his feet.
"You say her name three times and we'll let you go."
"No!"
"We'll help you out. Bloody Mary...Bloody Mary...Bl-"
"What is going on here?"
Sam pouted on a beanbag chair on the floor of the principal's office. It was hard to tell the principal what happened when you have two people ganging up on you. Luckily she has a soft spot for Sam and believed him. That's why the other two were getting suspended and Sam was just going home to take the rest of the day off.
"Hey bud," John said, walking into the office. The principal knew Mary was a teacher and it would easier for John to come to pick Sam up.
When he realized Sam wasn't moving, he walked over and sat on the other bean bag next to him.
"Am I in trouble?" Sam asked, tears on the verge of falling.
"No! Of course not!" John said throwing an arm around him. "Your principal said these boys tried to get you to play a game?"
"I told them I didn't want to! But they didn't listen!"
"And you did the right thing bud. I'm sorry it went down like this, but you did exactly what Mom and I told you to do."
John stood up, threw Sam's bag over his shoulder, and held his hand out for Sam. Sam, still upset, took his dad's hand and followed him out of the office, waving goodbye to his principal as they left the school.
After he picked up Sam, John swung by Adam's preschool to pick him up and the three went to lunch and back to Kate's house. John let Sam and Adam eat their lunch in the living room while they watched tv, so long as they were careful not to make a mess. Sam actually liked hanging out with Adam. Dean still didn't want to come over with him, so he's been very careful to be a good example for Adam.
"Hey Sammy?" Adam asked, munching on a french fry.
"What?"
"How are we brothers if we don't have the same mommy?"
"I think it's because we have the same dad," Sam answered very matter of factly.
"But how? Daddies don't have babies."
"I don't know. I just know my dad is your dad."
Adam seemed content with his answer. He shoved more fries in his mouth and turned back to the tv.
"Do you think Daddy will marry Mommy?"
"No!"
"Why?"
"Because he's married to my mom!"
"Nuh uh! I heard him say he got a d... a di..." Adam trailed off as he was trying to remember the word.
"A divorce?" Sam corrected.
Adam just nodded simply.
"You're lying!" Sam screamed, getting angry. He grabbed a throw pillow and hit Adam with it.
"Stop it!" Adam said, bursting into tears as three-year-olds do.
"Take it back!" Sam said, hitting him again.
Adam just cried.
John came running into the room and picked Adam up.
"What the hell are you doing!?" He asked Sam.
"I wanna go home!" Sam said.
The drive was quiet. Sam sat in the backseat with his arms crossed and stared out the window. John must have looked in the mirror every thirty seconds to check on him.
John parked on his usual side of the driveway. Shortly afterward, Mary pulled up next to him with Dean.
Sam jumped out of John's car and ran over to his mom as she climbed out of the car.
"Hey!" she said friendly. "I've missed you all day! What are you doing home?"
Before Sam could tell her, Dean snuck up behind him and gave him a noogie. Sam wiggled himself free and shoved Dean, causing him to fall backward.
"Ow Sam! What the hell?" Dean cried when he hit the cement.
"Sam!" Mary and John scolded at the same time.
"I hate when you do that!" Sam screamed at Dean. Dean continued to sit on the ground, confused out of his mind.
"John?"
"Sam's had a bad day today," John explained.
"Go inside the house," Mary told the boys, handing Sam the house key. Sam quickly took it and immediately darted to the front door. Dean picked himself up off the ground and followed behind him.
Sam sat on his bedroom floor with his legos. He had been up here in his room for two hours without anyone checking on him. Not even to ask him if he had done his homework. Sam knew they were all downstairs talking to each other about him. He knew his dad was telling his mom and brother about every horrible thing he had done that day and he hated it.
"Hey," Dean said, knocking on Sam's doorframe. "Whatcha doing?"
Sam sniffled, completely unaware that he was crying. "Playing with my legos."
"Can I join?"
Sam shook his head.
"Okay. If you change your mind, you know where to find me," Dean said before leaving Sam's doorway.
"Dean?" Sam called.
Dean stuck his head back in Sam's door. "Yeah?"
"I'm sorry I pushed you," he mumbled.
"It's okay. I'm sorry you had a sucky day."
"Will you help me build a castle?"
Dean smiled and sat on the floor across from Sam. "Sure."
