2021, The Stag 'n Deer Pub.

"Here's to Evans!" Sirius yelled, holding up his hipster beer in the air.

"To Evans!" the rest of the Marauders repeated, clinking their glasses together cheerfully. Lily reluctantly clinked her wine spritzer as she flushed bashfully.

"Only Lily would know where the deadest pub in London would be. Everyone here is so old that they have no clue who the hell we are!" Sirius said, a gleeful smile on his face as Lily rolled her eyes at him, pretending to not be amused.

"So humble Pads," Remus laughed into his lager, taking a hearty sip whilst Sirius flashed him a flirty wink—making Lily share a sly glance with James.

"So, what do you think about what Marls said?" James asked, fidgeting with the place setting on the table. Lily leant back, taking a moment to think of her answer, Marlene had suggested what James had guessed she would earlier.

That she wanted the band (and Lily) to go write and record the album in their 'secret' recording studio that was located in the middle of the Scottish Highlands.

"Well it's not really up to me, is it?" Lily said, clinking her chipped nail polish covered fingers on the side of the cool wine glass. James tutted under his breath and messed with his hair, something he did quite frequently—Lily had noticed. Not like she had been noticing or anything. Just something she had... seen.

"You're officially a part of the band now, of course your opinion matters. I mean, we all have lives where we can just fuck off for three months to record a album, but it seems like you actually have a life," James said, and Lily couldn't hold in her laughter.

James looked at her strangely for a second, as Lily couldn't help but chuckle. "Potter, I quit my job to come write for you guys, what makes you think that I have a life?" Lily asked, her voice littered with laughter.

"Dunno, you just seem like the type of person to have a life," James said almost nervously, scratching the back of his neck. Lily shook her head, taking a sip of her drink and trying not to notice that James's shirt had ridden up.

"Well, you'd think that the rockstar would have a life, but nope," James smirked, gulping his beer as Lily raised a brow.

"That's not what People magazine's saying about you." Lily remembered her and Alice flicking through dozens of gossip magazines just to find out whether or not Sirius had a girlfriend. But all they found out was how hard the boys seemingly partied.

"Reading about me Evans?" James said flirtily, and Lily felt that horrible pang again, she had almost let herself forget about how much of a dickface he was.
"Get over yourself Potter," Lily scoffed, getting up and retreating to the bathroom.

"What did you do this time?" Pete laughed, clapping a confused James on the back goodheartedly.
"I have actually no idea Wormy," James laughed nervously, watching the gorgeous but confusing Lily stomp into the girl's toilets.

"I think that's the problem Prongs," Remus laughed, looking at James like he knew something he didn't.

"What?" James asked, but Remus just shook his head, sipping his beer, feigning ignorance. "No Moons, what is it?" James whined.

"Nothin," Remus smiled, giving Sirius a sly grin.

2021, The Girls Bathroom in The Stag 'n Deer Pub.

Lily practically growled as she entered the bathroom, giving herself a check in the mirror and grabbing her cracked phone out of her purse.

Lils
Out of the meeting. I signed a fuckin' contract and everything.

Mary
NO WAY! I'm so happy for you babes!

Lils
I know. The pay is absolutely mental. Almost twice as much as when I was at the Times, but there's a catch.

Mary
Fuck off. What is it?

Lils
I have to go away with the band. For like three or four months. We're recording in a secret location that's so secret I can't tell anyone, even you.

Mary
And this is a catch why? Lils, you're writing for the biggest boy band since the Beatles, sounds fan-fucking-tastic!

Lils
But Potter is such an arsehole, and him pretending to flirt with me isn't helping. And I'm gonna be stuck with them for like, ever!

Mary
Buck up Evans. This is your dream, and if you're gonna let Potter ruin that then we can switch. How do u feel about pouring shite coffee for ungrateful Londoners all day?

Lily turned off her phone for a moment, holding her phone to her chest for a moment. Mary was right. Of course, she was right.

She turned it back on to see one last text.

Mary
Think about what Alice would say to you right now. And how much she'd slap your ginger arse for even second-guessing yourself.

Lily smiled, her eyes already brimming with tears, cursing Mary and her wise words.

Lils
You're right.

Thank you, angel.

Lily wiped her tears, gave herself a strict talking to in the mirror, rolled up her skirt slightly, and left the bathroom.

2017, The Dodgy Play-Park outside of Morrisons.

"I can't believe you got sold!" Alice giggled gleefully, opening the plastic bag to reveal a bag full of cheap vodka, MD and some Malibu.

"I think it's the fat thing, or the fact that I naturally look like a divorcee with two kids," Lily joked, and Alice smacked her on the arm. Tutting over Lily's self-deprecating humour.

"Right, so where can we drink this? Because we aren't getting drunk in this dodgy park," Alice said, looking around like she was checking someone wasn't going to arrest them at any moment.

"Yours?" Lily asked hopefully, knowing that her own mum would murder and cremate her if she found out that the girls had alcohol. Alice just laughed at Lily though, shaking her head aggressively.

"Ha, next joke please. Have you forgotten that I'm Asian? My parents would probably send me back to Korea."

Lily huffed, closing the clinking bag and hugging her jacket closer to her body. It was October and it was fucking freezing.
"Well we didn't think this through, did we?" Lily laughed and Alice nodded, swinging forward on her swing slightly, putting on her thinking face.

"Okay, slap me if you want for saying this. But didn't Severus say he had a free house, and doesn't he have his own flat now?"

Lily stopped swinging for a second. He did say that, and he did live alone now, but Lily knew that he'd said that to her just to get her round because he wanted a shag.

"He did say that…" Lily said thoughtfully, knowing that his house was only a ten-minute walk away.

"So… whatcha think?" Alice asked, poking Lily with her foot. Lily sighed deeply, knowing that she didn't want to get pissed for the first time in a random park.

"Fine, I'll text him," Lily said, reluctantly pulling her phone out of her hoodie pocket.

"Yipee!"

2021, Lily's Childhood Home

Lily felt her breath hitch as she turned the key in the lock, feeling the satisfying click as the door opened, and Lily heard her parents dog, Jax, bark his head off from the kitchen.

"Just me!" Lily screamed into the house, carrying a potted plant with one hand as she locked the door behind her, trying not to get knocked over by the bounding Jax, who was extremely excited to see her.

"Hello Jaxxy, down boy," Lily said, tucking her keys in her pocket.
"Jax, leave your sister alone!" Aubrey said, greeting Lily in the hallway. She was one of the very few who could calm the wild little Jack Russell.

"Thanks Mum," Lily said, handing her the plant. It was a Chinese money plant, something she knew that her mum would love. She was trying to sweeten her up after all.

"For me? Oh darling it's lovely," Aubrey said appreciatively, grabbing the plant and directing Lily straight to the kitchen, no doubt so she could put it in one of her posh vases.

Lily followed meekly, a smile on her face as her tummy twirled. She had no clue how she was going to explain her disappearing away to write an album for three months. Her mum barely believed her as is.

"It'll look perfect next to my Monstera…" Aubrey muttered before catching herself and turning to point at the other side of the kitchen island.

"Oh Lils, Dae's here, say hello!"

Lily turned to see a nervous-looking Dae, red-eyed and weak. Lily's heart tugged, she was so unlike the woman she was before Alice's untimely death. She used to be so strong. Lily felt immediately guilty for not visiting her more often.

"Oh hello Mrs Fortescue, lovely to see you," Lily greeted, probably a bit too politely. Dae smiled and shook her head slightly.

"Lily, please. Call me Dae, you're not fifteen anymore," Dae said mournfully

"So what's this Aubrey's telling me about you now working for the Marauders? Is this true?" Dae asked, almost accusingly. Lily understood her shock, she of all people knew more than anyone how much Alice worshipped the Marauders.

"Yes, it's true, surprisingly. I'm a songwriter for them. It's totally mental," Lily sputtered, taking a seat across from Dae. "They were actually my neighbours of all things, and I gave them a proper talking too after they were being way too loud with their music."

"Neighbours?" Dae asked, looking slightly seasick.

"Sounds crazy doesn't it? I don't believe it myself," Lily laughs awkwardly. She thanked her mum as she handed her and Dae both a cup of tea. Lily wished that the earth would swallow her up. And she wished that it had been her in that car. Not Alice.

"What is it now, you're—you're working for them? This is… Lily, do you need some help?" Dae asked, taking Lily's hand in her own. Lily grabbed it back from her, now feeling some anger rise.

"You think—you think I'm lying? " Lily scoffed, "Mum, tell her!" Lily said, looking at her mum for some sort of defence.

"Lily, you've got to see sense dear, I mean… I can understand if you wanted an excuse for quitting your job, it's okay—" Aubrey started, and Lily got out of her chair, feeling suddenly betrayed.

"I knew it! I fucking knew it. You don't believe me! Well, I'm going away for a while to write. And we'll see who's lying when the album comes out. This'll be the best fucking album you've ever heard!" Lily said, grabbing her purse and starting for the front door.

"Lily, wait!" Aubrey shouted, and Lily stopped, turning to face her mother.

"Don't worry Mum, I'll get you hold our Grammy," Lily said dramatically, before slamming the front door shut. Fury fresh in her mind.

2017, Severus Snape's doorstep.

Lily shifted nervously as she waited for Snape to open the door, they waited for a beat too long and Lily turned to Alice.

"Maybe we should go, I mean. We can drink at mine! I don't mind being grounded for the rest of my life," Lily rambled, and Alice shook her head fondly.

"We're here now. So shut your pus Evans," Alice said, pushing the doorbell again.

"Jesus, I'm coming," The gruff voice of Severus said, opening the door to his shitty flat. Lily felt herself blush as she smiled, hating herself for her stupid childhood crush on a guy who was so clearly an arsehole.

"Hey Sev, thanks for letting us—" Lily began.
"—got a mate 'round. Wants to meet Alice," Severus said, finishing the blunt that he had been puffing in his mouth. Severus was known to be the local stoner, who more than occasionally dealt pot to his fellow Cokeworth weed-heads.

"Awesome, is he fit?" Alice asked, pushing her way into the smoky house. Snape chuckled like it was the most hilarious thing before gruffly answering, "I dunno, how would I know? I ain't gay."

Lily laughed awkwardly as she followed Severus, walking into a smoke-filled living room, horrible party music booming from the speakers. Lily spotted what she guessed was Sev's 'friend' who looked more like a fully grown man. He opened his mouth and flashed Alice a leering smile. Lily wanted to punch the daylights out of him.

"You got drink then chubs?" the alleged 'friend' said from the floor. He was wearing a horrible Adidas tracksuit, with jeans that looked like they'd been vomited on.

"Excuse me?" Lily said, turning to the grown man, but Snape stopped her with his hand.

"Gon calm down, Spence is high as shit. He doesn't mean it babes," Snape said and Lily stepped back, raising a brow.

"Spence?" Lily questioned and Snape nodded, flicking the blunt on the floor and toeing it out. Lily almost ran out of the door right then and there.
"Spencer Craig, a mate from college," Severus said, and Lily nodded, glancing to look at Alice—who was flashing this 'Spence' a flirty smile.

Oh for fucks sake Lily thought, almost groaning aloud as Alice batted her eyelids at this munter.

"Pop open the MD Lils!" Alice said, and Lily passed her the bag, sitting down on the disgusting floor, she knew that she needed to get very drunk to survive this shitshow.

2021, Lily's flat

Lily couldn't stop the tears from flowing once she had gotten home. She couldn't believe that her mum hadn't believed her. And seeing Dae always hurt. She looked so much like Alice it physically hurt. She could maybe understand why Alice's dad had now divorced her.

Lily threw her coat off and chucked herself on her tiny sofa. She could see all the breakfast dishes from the morning and she held back a smile. Which was hard because she was crying as hard as she was.

She wanted to slap herself, she was still a little tipsy from the pub, and she had just forked out a small fortune for the taxi to her parent's house and back. She cringed at herself as she grabbed her phone, the still cracked screen only fuelling her tears.

She sighed as she saw the missed texts from her mum, she swiped enough on her screen so that she could read them without opening them.

Lily-flower
Uh… yeah?

Lily quickly regretted saying that, as no less than two seconds later James was in her flat. An 'I 3 Peter Pettigrew' mug in hand. She had barely a second to try and wipe her tear-stained mascara tears before he saw her.

Unfortunately, she was unsuccessful and James now knew that she was a hot mess, great.

"I hope you like Earl Grey because that's the only tea that Sirius buy—" James stopped in his tracks as he looked at Lily, brown eyes full of sympathy that Lily had no use for.

"Lily, are you okay?" James asked, walking over and popping the tea on the coffee table, sitting on the arm of the sofa as Lily tried to scrub her face clean. Because James effing Potter now knew that she had been sobbing her heart out.

"Nothin, all good. Thanks for the tea. It better not have salt in it," Lily said, her voice horribly thick from crying.
"Well it's not all good, you've been crying. What's wrong?" James said, his stupid cute scouse accent causing Lily to want to burst out into a fresh set of tears.

"God Potter, it's nothing," Lily said, taking a sip from the tea, which did in fact, have salt in it.
"Oh for fucks sake! You're an arsehole!" Lily said, slamming the mug down, the horrid salty taste now lingering in her mouth.

James's eyes practically popped out of his head, "Shit! Lily I'm so sorry Sirius made it—"

"Just bugger off, will you!" Lily said angrily, and James nodded, scampering out of the flat before she could chuck something at him.

She just felt a fresh set of tears coming as she shrunk down onto the sofa and sobbed. She sobbed about her mum, she sobbed about the wanker James Potter and she found herself crying about Alice. But she was always crying about Alice.

2017, Severus Snape's bedroom.

Lily discovered that liked being drunk. And she was indeed very drunk. She had drunk more than her fair share and now she was making out with Severus on his bed, her intoxicated mind telling herself that this was a good idea.

Severus was just as drunk, (and also high) as her, if not more. So she wasn't surprised when he reached for the zipper of her jeans, begging to be able to fuck her.

Lily just nodded, whispering a drunken "Yes."

she refused to be the only virgin at uni, and if it had to be anyone—it might as well have been Snape. So she let him snake his fingers inside of her, and she let him eventually push inside of her, with Severus muttering about how in love he was, and that she was "so bloody gorgeous" the entire time.

She also wasn't surprised when he finished quickly. She was just glad it was over, and she hoped that sex would get better as she grew up.
