A/N: So this idea was born from a thought that ASL have a sort of a unique dynamic which is actually canon. During the ASL flashback, it was established that Ace and Sabo think of themselves as Luffy's older brothers - as opposed to having a hierarchy between them two. Not to mention that they barely have a difference in age or that Ace and Sabo constantly brag about Luffy...

Jhh88015: You're welcome. Lol. He certainly does, I won't argue... : 3 If you're reading this I'm sorry cause I haven't written your prompt yet, but it should be one-shot 5. Big brother day huh? If you're not gonna elaborate on it I don't know if I can give you what ya want xd You mean like the big brother equivalent of children's day? Actually I think there's a daughter's day in Japan (hinamatsuri). Let's see, I'm gonna write about Luffy showing love for Ace and Sabo, is that okay?

Please enjoy!

ONE-SHOT 3: THE OLDEST BROTHER

"The oldest brother? It's both Ace and Sabo, of course!" — In which Usopp questions who the older brother is and Luffy explains how things work... or try to, at least.

. . .

Warnings: Minor Ace and Sabo appearances

Additional Pairings: None

"So, Luffy, I've been meaning to ask you something..." Usopp trailed off as he paused to pop a joint of a figurine into place.

Luffy had come over to Usopp's to have some fun, but the original plans of making figurines together was ruined by Luffy's complete inability to not destroy random parts.

So Usopp decided to instead set Luffy to paper plane-making lest he lose his temper over it and risk the incident getting leaked to Shanks through his overly-talkative father.

It wasn't like Luffy knew how to make paper planes, or Usopp had the time to teach him in between his work, but Luffy didn't seem to mind. He was having plenty of fun making the most ridiculous things from paper, which he claimed were planes and refused to call it otherwise.

Usopp didn't see a reason to deny him his fun.

He peered over when Luffy didn't reply immediately; the black-haired teen was concentrating on making... paper strips, tongue sticking out in concentration and all.

A runway, perhaps?

Though the 'plane' seemed to look more like cabbage than anything else...

"Luffy," Usopp called again.

Luffy managed a barely audible sound of affirmation.

Usopp couldn't help but smile, his friend was having too much fun making an abomination. "I wanted to ask you about your brothers."

That got his attention - Luffy's hands finally stopped moving and he looked at Usopp a sort of happy curiosity. "What?"

"Who's the older brother? The oldest out of the three of you?"

"The oldest brother?" Luffy repeated in a way that he thought the question was dumb. Which was rich coming from him, Usopp thought. Luffy grinned. "It's both Ace and Sabo, of course!"

"But... that doesn't make sense."

"Why not? They're both my older brothers!" Luffy looked like he was about to argue to the ends of the earth on this.

Usopp decided he should curb his doubt, or at least on the outside. He turned back to his figurine and took up his paintbrush to lightly dab at it, "It's just... you know, in a family of three kids, there's normally an older, a middle, and a younger. You see, the older's gotta be proud of being the older one."

Luffy tilted his head and squeezed his eyes, arms crossed in an attempt to dissect Usopp's analogy. "Yeah... but..." he opened his eyes and looked at Usopp again defiantly, "We're different! We don't have the same dad, so Ace and Sabo are both oldest!"

"So they don't fight over who's the older one?"

"Nope."

They probably do behind your back, Usopp thought, looking quite unamused. They're just the type to do something like that. He schooled his expression again, "But, Luffy, how are they both the oldest then?"

"Hmm... They're the same height!"

Really...? That's it...? "Luffy, I'm taller than my mom. Doesn't mean I'm older than her."

"Ah! You're right!" Luffy dropped a fist into his palm. "Then, um... They both take care of me. They also call themselves my older brother?"

"Then what do they call each other? Like if someone asks Sabo who Ace is to him? What would Sabo call him?"

"Brother."

"And if someone asks Sabo about you?"

"Little brother!"

"And now let me ask something else."

Luffy nodded seriously. Usopp sweatdropped. He was really treating this like some kind of oral exam.

"So... let's say someone talked bad about Sabo. What would Ace do?"

"He'd tell Sabo about it."

"That's it?"

"Yeah."

"And what if someone talked bad about you? What would Ace do then?"

"Hmm..." Luffy scrunched up his face. "I don't know. Has anyone ever done that?"

Right... Luffy wouldn't be able to tell... Usopp sweatdropped again. "Just pretend, like..." Usopp's eyes landed on his figurine. "Ah!" He picked it up, awkwardly catching the leg as it slid out of the joint. "Uh- What if The Great - but not as great as me - Heronator said, Luffy is a bad younger brother to Ace, what would he do?"

"Shishishishi!" Luffy laughed. Then he put his thumb under his chin and thought about it. "Um... He would punch him! Yeah! And say that Luffy is the greatest little brother in the entire world!"

Yup, sounds like it alright... Usopp then put the figurine down - carefully - to ponder the responses. "Guess you're right then, they are both the oldest."

Luffy pouted. "I wasn't lying!" Then his pout faded into a smile. "They're the oldest and they say I can't be trusted on my own, but they always know that they can trust each other, and never tells the other that they can't do this or that! Whatever Ace does, Sabo lets him, and Ace lets Sabo do whatever he wants to too! But with me, they always have to ask so many questions." Luffy sighed dramatically. Then he perked up again. "But I still love them for being my older brothers!"

"...Couldn't you have just said all that earlier?"

"Huh? I didn't know that's what you wanted to hear!"

"So Sabo, let's compare it again."

"Again? You're never going to let this go, are you?"

"I'm not giving it up until you admit that I'm taller and therefore older!"

"Yeah right! Just wait to get disappointed again!"
