Now that you've made it here from my little spiel, I suppose I should introduce the canon of this story. This takes place during Season 2 of the MacGyver remake, so the team is Angus MacGyver, Jack Dalton, Riley Davis, Wilt Bozer, and Matilda "Matty" Webber heading things up at the Phoenix. Now with that cleared up, let's get on with the story. On with the show!

Dragon of Mystery Presents:

A Tale of Action, Intrigue, and Crazy Ingenuity

Starring Spyro, Cynder, and the brave agents of the Phoenix

Dragons + Phoenix

(Enjoy the show!)

(Our story opens up in a dark room, with only a few torches lighting the entirety of the room. In the center, only a chair, with a familiar armored figure strapped down to it. The figure is the Assassin, a notorious commander of Gaul's forces from back during Malefor's schemes. And he appears to be strapped down to the chair. As we adjust to this sight, we see a shadow cross the room, or rather two of them, revealing two familiar dragons have arrived to confront their foe)

Spyro: I don't know how you survived our last encounter, but rest assured, that won't happen if we fight again.

Assassin: (Garbled by the helmet) If you think I'm going to talk, you're crazy.

Spyro: What was that?

Cynder: Should we get Sparx down here to translate?

Spyro: There's no time. (Removes the Assassin's helmet and throws it across the room) Now, care to repeat what you said?

Assassin: If you think I'm going to talk, you're crazy.

Cynder: We know Malefor's loyalists are planning something, and we know you're involved. The courts will be more lenient with you if you cooperate now.

Assassin: That's the difference between Gaul and I. He only served Malefor for his own gain, and his loyalists were cursed for it. I however? I served with my all. I won't give up my brothers.

Spyro: Let the record show we gave you a chance to do this the easy way.

(But before Spyro can try anything that would even remotely resemble bad cop interrogation, the Assassin bites down on something in his cheek, a motion Cynder notices and recognizes)

Cynder: Oh no you don't!

(With that, Cynder immediately starts trying to pry open the Ape's mouth, but it's too late, he collapses and starts foaming at the mouth, falling straight out of Cynder's grasp. And within seconds, he's dead, leaving Cynder frustrated enough to punch a dent into a wall and leaving Spyro completely confused)

Spyro: What just happened?

Cynder: One of Malefor's oldest tricks. Cyanide capsule in the tooth.

Spyro: Great. There goes our only lead as to what Malefor's loyalists are up to.

Cynder: And now we're back to square one, with no solution to stopping them.

(At this point, Spyro thinks of something)

Spyro: I wouldn't be so hopeless yet.

Cynder: Why not?

Spyro: I think I know a guy who can find out what's going on here.

(With that, we transition from the dimly lit interrogation room to a well lit civilian home)

LOS ANGELES - CITY OF ANGELS

(Within this home, we see a lightish haired individual appearing to be speaking in tongues, only he's not possessed. This is Angus MacGyver, and he appears to be reading something from a nearby laptop screen, which immediately catches the attention of a second figure who just enters the scene)

MacGyver: (Reading something off the computer screen) Nomag wer Ancestors vorq ghent wux.

Bozer: (Hearing what MacGyver just said) Do we need to call an exorcist?

MacGyver: (Seeing Bozer's here) Just practicing my Draconian.

Bozer: You're trying to learn Draconian? Isn't that one of the hardest languages in the world to learn?

MacGyver: Dragons have a fascinating culture. And it can really only be truly appreciated if you can understand the language of their Ancestors. Or so they say.

Bozer: And you're taking this "they" at their word?

MacGyver: Of course not just at their word. I've polled several people who've studied Dragon culture across the world and they all agree understanding the language is almost a necessity. The translations just don't have that je ne sais quoi that the unadulterated version does.

Bozer: I'm just going to take you at your word for that.

(Before MacGyver can say anything in response, his phone starts buzzing. Picking it up, he sees a familiar number, that of his boss)

MacGyver: Kwi jennu.

Bozer: (Getting the same message on his phone) Looks like duty calls.

MacGyver: (Closes his computer) My studies into Draconian can wait.

(With that the two leave the scene for their base of operations as our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to end for today. For those with an eye for fictional languages, you may notice MacGyver is actually speaking real Draconian as the sort of ancient Dragon language. I kind of borrowed that as a trick from MysticOTDH, who did the same in his story Visions of Darkness, one of my all-time favorite Spyro fanfictions. There's a translator out there if you want to know what MacGyver is saying. So, what's the mission from Phoenix? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
