Chapter Five

What!

A/N - Whew, the last chapter was a long one. Well, the trip was successful possibly more that Amy and Ty realized. The kids survived the weekend and are excited their mom and dad are coming home. What surprises are in store for all of them. Mild Mature content.

What #1

The kids were at Miracle Ranch sitting on the porch anxiously waiting for their parents. Georgie looked at them and shook her head, "Will you guys' chill, they will be here in less than 15 minutes and the pizza will be here in 30." Maddie was the first to see the SUV entering the property and screamed, "THEIR BACK!" She led the charge when they stopped in front of the house followed by the twins and a much more mobile Lyndy. Ty and Amy were almost knocked down by the onslaught of hugs and kisses. Maddie jumped into her dad's arms and the twins latched onto their mom. After the twins let go Amy went over the Lyndy and hugged her. "How is my baby girl doing? Feeling better?" she whispered in her ear. Lyndy smiled at her giving her the answered she hoped. The girls headed into the house as Ty unloaded the bags. Georgie and Steven said their goodbyes but not after the girl's begged them to stay for pizza. After dinner the family settled into their rooms. After Amy and Ty made their rounds, they went to their room to get ready for bed. Ty walked up to Amy as she brushed her hair. She yawned and leaned back on him. "I am so happy to be home and I am exhausted, so can Mr. Studly take the night off." Ty didn't respond and when she looked up it looked like he was falling asleep standing up. She laughed, stood up and walked with him to bed. The cuddled and were asleep within minutes.

The next morning was business as usual. Breakfast, chores, and school prep were done on time and Ty and Amy saw the girls off to the bus. They went back the barn and got caught on what they missed. Ty had to head to the clinic for a few hours and while he was leaving Georgie showed up. Thet got to work with the horses and sat down to coordinate the schedule for the next few weeks. They were going to be really busy. Ty got home early afternoon and the girls went over his part of the schedule. Amy noticed that Georgie had been kind of quiet. When Ty got back, he noticed it to whispering into Amy's ear when they were alone. So, Amy had to ask, "Georgie, is everything all right. Are you and Steven, OK?" Georgie hesitated and reluctantly responded, "We are great by the way, couldn't be better. We are getting excited about getting married and the rest of our life. We have a role model couple to emulate." winking at them. "The thing I need to talk to you about is an offer I have received. The Canadian Olympic Equestrian Team wants me to coach some up-and-coming young equestrians. Me, can you believe it. Well, it will mean I won't be available to help as much for the next year. The games are next year in July, and they need me until then and even want me to go to the games in Paris, France!"

Amy and Ty were overwhelmed, "Georgie that is unbelievable, we are so proud of you. This is an opportunity you can't pass up. I was already planning to get Katie and Lyndy more involved so over the summer they can step it up." Ty added, " And Steven is getting more involved in the vet side, in fact and don't tell him yet, but I am going to offer him a vet assistant job working for the Equine Center. I am getting more involved in surgical procedures with Scott, and I need his help. The seems like a win-win for everyone, agreed." They all smiled and did a group hug. Georgie was relieved as she had been dreading this conversation.

What #2

They headed to the house after Georgie left and sat on the porch to wait for the kids. Lyndy had refused to be picked up at the bus, man is she like her mother. The kids came sauntering down the driveway, and Ty was the first to notice, there was one extra kid. Amy, "Who is that, walking next to Lyndy, carrying her bookbag?" "Oh, my lord, I think that must be Wyatt. Lyndy told me he had volunteered to carry her books for her in classes and I guess he must have to carry them to the house to? Oh my, here first crush." She giggled. "You never carried my books Ty," she laughed. "Wait a minute, she is only 11, are we OK with that?" Ty said with concern. "Ty, Lyndy is very mature for her age. We have already talked about it. Don't panic and be nice." She pleaded. They quieted down as the kids approached.

Amy and Ty met the kids at the fence as they walked in. They all moved to the porch for hugs and hellos. Amy and Ty somewhat patiently waited for Lyndy to say something when Maddie blurted out, "This is Wyatt, Lyndy's Boyfriend!". The twins giggled and poor Lyndy and Wyatt dipped their heads as they each blushed. Amy immediately took control, "Girls take your stuff inside, get a snack and start on your homework," Maddie started to say something so Ty interjected staring directly at her, "Do what you mom says, we will be inside in a few minutes."

Lyndy and Wyatt took a calming breath and Amy motioned for them to sit down. "Wyatt, nice to meet you. Lyndy's dad and I really want to thank you for helping Lyndy with her books. I know she can be a little independent, but I am sure she appreciates it too." Amy said in a very motherly, calming voice. Wyatt looked up and timidly said, "It's no problem Mr. and Mrs. Borden. We have first hour in the morning together and my last class is right next to hers. And the teachers have given me a pass to help her in between every class. I hope you are OK with that. Lyndy is a good friend and I like helping her." Lyndy finally soke up, "Mom and Dad is it Ok if Wyatt stays and we can work on homework together. He also wants to see the Ranch so I thought it would be OK for him to get off the bus with us" "Of course it is. Wyatt, do you want to stay for dinner? I promise we will keep Maddie under control," Amy laughed. Wyatt shook his head yes and thanked them.

They went off and Amy and Ty headed out to the barn, arm in arm. Ty joked, "Maybe we should cool it down since Wyatt is new to this crazy family." Amy pulled him into the barn office and gave him a deep passionate kiss that sent her answer to Ty. He returned the passion but after a few minutes he said in a low voice, "Amy the weekend is over, don't get me wrong I am really into this but maybe we can chill just a little until later." "Fine, rain check..." she cooed.

After they wrapped up their work the headed back to the hose and noticed that the twins and Maddie were sitting on the porch waiting for them. Addie looked at them and with concern, "So, what do you think about this. We are concerned that this may not be the best thing." Maddie and Annie shook the heads in agreement. "I mean come on mom they are only 11. Don't you think they are kind of young," Annie added with a concerned look. Amy and Ty did everything they could to hold back their laughter. Ty was the first one to gather himself and said, "Well let me ask you a few questions. Do you trust your sister? Do you trust Wyatt? Does your sister seem happy? Don't you like to see that they are great friends. Do I need to go on?" Amy added, "Wyatt seems like a nice young man, he offered to help your sister until she gets off her crutches. I don't know about you guys, but I think is very nice. Wouldn't you do the same for your friends?" For once none of them had anything to say except to agree. Of course, Maddie spoke up, "Well I like him, and I hope he comes around a lot. And Lyndy seems happy too. I guess we all need to realize that this stuff is going to happen."

Well, that was the tipping point. Amy, Ty, and the twins burst out in laughter high fiving each other. Lyndy and Wyatt came out on the porch to this scene, and she said, "What's so funny?" Annie responded, "We were talking about Maddie's class project and how great she did." Lyndy hesitantly laughed not believing them and then they all went in to get ready for dinner.

What #3

A few weeks later after the girls were asleep, Amy rolled over on her back panting heavily joined by Ty who was equally winded. It was warm for a late spring evening and even though they had the window open they both had a light sheen of sweat on their naked bodies. "Dr Borden are we back in Banff, I mean two times. Mr. Studly has returned, and I love it." She smiled broadly leaning to him. "Well thanks but I have to say you were amazing. Amy, I can't tell you enough how much I love you, more and more every day." He said tearing up a little.

"Hey, what's wrong, all night you have seemed like you have something on your mind." She asked concerned. "You know me to well, I have to talk to you about something. I hope you think this is good, I think it is, I mean for both of us and our family, I think," he babbled. After a calming look and kiss on his cheek by his beautiful wife he continued, "Well there are two things. First of all, the folks at the University of Calgary equine program heard about out clinic in Banff. It seems several students were there and brought their excitement back to them. They want us to come speak to the classes to talk about what we do on a regular schedule. They even want us to bring some horses and conduct the session in the arena they use on campus. I don't know the particulars, but they were thinking 3-4 times a semester. What do you think? Amy lunged toward Ty laying on top of him, kissing and touching him all over his body. "I take it that you are happy about it." He laughed. Her actions were definitely moving toward session #3 of the evening when he stopped her. She pouted as he said, "Hold on tiger, there is one more thing."

"Scott and I have been talking about the clinic. Business has really been booming for the three of us (Cass was a partner too), we even had to hire another assistant. Well, we decided to move all of the equine vet work to the Miracle Ranch. I don't know quite what that means yet, but we will have to do some building, add an office for the client meetings and one, are two surgical stalls." He took a breath as Amy's eyes widened as he spoke. "So basically, I will be here almost 100% of the time and it will make it easier to bring Steven on as my assistant. So, you me, Georgie and Steven will run the show. This will allow Scott to focus on all the other animas we get." Tears welled up in Amy's eyes and Ty didn't know at first how to react. She gathered herself and said wit great emotion," That is amazing, our goal has always been to work together, and this will make that complete. I have never been happier than I am right now. I love you so much and I can't wait." Amy lunged toward Ty, with her lips and hands all over him. He did the same and they both began breathing heavily. Needless to say, session #3 of the night was a given as they enveloped each other in their arms and more.

What #4

As the next weeks passed by the ranch was a buzz of activity. The Family was ecstatic about Ty and Amy's news. Architects had developed plans for the expansion needed to handle the new direction of the Hudson Animal Clinic/Miracle Ranch Equine Center endeavor. Amy, Ty, Scott, and Cass signed off on the final plan and work had just begun. Amy and Georgie were figuring out how to work around it and Ty had already began moving a little business over, figuring the transition would be better done gradually. The girls were excited as there were only 2 weeks left until summer break. Even more exciting was the new jobs they would begin doing with the new Equine Center. Ty and Amy sat them down right after the news and talked about the changes that would be coming to the ranch and gaining their approval. Especially the fact that each of them would be a part of it. They always engaged them in all of the family decisions believing that there should be no secrets with them. Ty especially felt as though this was important since in his early life, he was never a part of any decisions or milestones.

One morning after the girls left for school Amy and Ty were having their usual cup of coffee on the porch talking about the day. Moments like this were very important them and the never missed the opportunity to have time alone. Although their conversations had evolved over the years, it was still important to them. They talked about the kids, what they had to do that day and other random topics. And amazingly it always seemed that flirtations started and needless to say depending on where and when they had to be somewhere the actions moved into their bedroom.

This morning Ty noticed that Amy seemed distracted. "Hey are you ok? It seems you are somewhere else this morning." Amy sighed and said, "Sorry, Georgie and I have been trying to figure things out with all the construction underway. We think we might move a few horses to Heartland for a while until things stabilize. With school ending Katie will be able to handle the extra horses." "Yea that makes sense and I think I am going to have Steven start helping out more here since school will be out for him too. I think we should offer him the assistant job before the summer, you agree?" "Definitely," she answered, "It's kind of exciting everything that is going on." She hugged him tightly. "But there seems to be more on your mind," Ty continued.

Amy took a breath and went to go on and talk about the girls, "Lyndy and Wyatt are still going strong. I think we have had a dozen conversations about it over the last few weeks. It's kind of cute Ty, they kind of remind me of us, although a little younger." "Maybe it is time for me to have the talk, like Jack did with me," he joked. "Ty, don't you dare, especially about missing limbs," she laughed. The twins seem to be good. It is amazing how different they can be but how connected they are. Sometimes I am in awe of how they "communicate" without words. And the little monster, could be the funniest kid I have ever seen. Some of the things she comes up with are amazing. She is the most caring, honest and confident little girl and deep-down cares deeply for our family.

Amy sat back in her chair and took a deep breath clutching her stomach. "Ok fess up, over the last few days I have seen you with that look on your face" Ty asked. "I know things are hectic but that last time you were acting this way you found out you were pregnant with Maddie." Suddenly Ty's eyes widened, and he turned his head toward her. What he saw was that amazing smile she only had for him and tears beginning to form. "What are you doing tomorrow at 10?" she blabbered. "Want to go see the doctor with me?" After he hesitated, she became concerned until he looked at her and said with all his love, "Every day I thank the Lord for what I have. And every day I see things that make me love your even more. Amy I am the happiest man in the world right now!" He flashed the Borden smile and grabbed Amy into a passionate hug and kiss. Both of them were on cloud nine and giggled like high schoolers. "Maybe we should celebrate." Amy cooed. But then she stopped in her tracks, and they looked into each other's eyes, "How are we going to tell the kids."
