3 hours beforehand...

Basil woke up. What a terrible nightmare!

First... he was just following Omori around as he smashed every watermelon in sight. And then... he felt himself falling apart.

That wasn't even the start, as he quickly found himself then being devoured by an unimaginable number of spiders, optimistically hoping that they'd not do so.

Omori watched him in pure silence. Probably scared of the spiders... right?

Then he was in a lovely looking treehouse! Oh! He could just take the elevator back to Neighbor's Room, right?

He was stuck. The elevator's doors closed in on his neck.

"O... mori..."

Omori watched in silence. Was that... a small smile?

It was hard to survive out here in this strange black land, but he'd managed. The stump had a lot more room in it than he expected.

Omori was going to ride with him on the raft? How lovely of him!

Well, there was something that was bothering Basil for now. Perhaps Omori would like to hear it-

A sharp burst of pain right at his neck. And then he was somewhere else again.

Oh! This must be Neighbor's Room! He's finally home!

Omori arrived, and Basil followed his good friend north towards where Hero, Kel, and Aubrey were waiting! He was finally free from all those strange events!

He didn't notice that Neighbor's Room had been stretched out in the north-south direction. And that his friend's faces were oversaturated, their mouths and eyes bleeding into their skin.

"W-Wait... What... What are you guys doing?"

Two balls flew at Basil, each one knocking him back significantly. Basil turned to face Omori.

"Omori-"

Basil felt his skull cave in as Aubrey swung her bat.

He was now in a church, surrounded by Something, all around him, biting into him, the pain...

"Sunny..."

Something bit harder.

"I'm... I'm so sorry..."

Basil sunk further into Something.

"Will you forgive me? My best friend..."

Something swallowed Basil.

He was now somewhere else. A red light glowed outside the sliding door.

Wait... who was Sunny? Why did he somehow know him like that?

...It didn't matter. Something was calling Basil... and Omori...

Omori entered the room.

"There's something out there. It's calling me... and it's calling you too."

"Let's go together."

Omori took several steps back.

Something was coming for him something was coming for him something was coming for him was coming for him was coming for him was coming for him coming for him coming for him coming for him for him for him for him him him him

Four red hands grabbed Basil, pulling him into a land where his blood was near indistinguishable from the environment.

Omori walked up to him. Was he going to save him now?

"I'm... I'm so sorry... Will you forgive me? My best friend..."

Omori got out his dull knife.

"W-Wait! What are you doing!?"

The hands pulled on his limbs, threatening to tear him apart.

"Tell them to stop!"

"Please, tell them to stop!"

"HELP ME!"

Omori stabbed him right in the gut, digging in the knife to ensure his death.

And then Basil woke up.

He was fine he was fine he was fine was fine was fine was fine fine fine fine

And then the ground began to shake as the floor of his house began to collapse.

Basil quickly ran out of his house as a massive wave of darkness overtook his little clearing in the forest.

A beacon of pure darkness rose up into the heavens of Headspace.

More beacons arose. One pierced right through Sweetheart's Castle. One shot out from a barn in Cattail Fields. The lighthouse in North Lake became a beacon of darkness. And one more beacon shot right out of North Lake itself.

Five beacons of darkness flooded the skies of Headspace in a new night.

Basil ran up to the Forest Playground, where Mari was watching this strange and potentially dangerous event.

"Basil... I think we should head to Neighbor's Room. Just to be on the safe side."

"Sure thing... Mari..."

Cattail Fields, Basil's House, Sweetheart's Castle, Deeper Well, and the islands of North Lake were all overtaken by darkness...

Before the beacons condensed into three new waves of darkness.

One wave shot out to the far west of Headspace, creating a dark fog no one could see through.

The next shot out into the eastern edge of the Vast Forest, creating an area covered in an eternal night.

The final wave shot out to the far south, a long lane manifesting as it went before a new island was formed.
