Music of my heart Chapter 2
Eddie Duran walk into the School auditorium with his entourage trailing behind him. He smiles when he catches sight of Evan.
"I'm going to perform a set of my songs, I have a concert in a few hours."
"I know cuz, thanks for coming, I owe you for this."
Lucy steps in front of Evan. "Hi, I'm Loren; I'm in charge tonight, thank you for coming."
Evan looks at her in disbelief. "You're not…"
She hits him on the side and whispers. "Shut up Evan, I know what I'm doing!"
"Hey no problem, you're my cousin's girl, I'd do anything for him."
She leans close to him. "Really? Anything?"
He furrows his eyes; he moves away from her. "I meant for Evan, excuse me."
Everyone screams, they jump with their hands in the air. "We love you Eddie!" He smiles and waves as he walks onto the stage area, the girls go crazy.
"I love y'all too." Loren stands on the right side of the stage, she can't move, Mel's elated, she stands in front of her. "Earth to Loren!"
"It's him, he's here tonight, omg, this will be the best Prom on record."
"I know, Evan did this, apparently your dear sister asked him too."
"Really? I have to thank him."
"She's up to something." Mel says while she watches Lucy.
"She wanted to meet him Mel, I'm sure that's it."
Mel's skeptical. "I'm not sure, Lucy can't be trusted."
Eddie performs two of his hits. Some couples start to dance. Evan turns to Lucy. "Will you dance with me?"
She rolls her eyes. "I guess; after all you did come through for me."
"I told you I'd do anything for you."
He holds Lucy from the waist, she pulls away. "Not too close."
Her eyes are on Eddie. "He's hotter looking in person."
"My mom said we could be twins; we sort of look alike." Evan says.
She laughs in his face. "You're kidding right, I mean you're ok, but, he's gorgeous, is he dating anyone?"
"He was married to Chloe the super model, she cheated, he filed for divorce."
"Who would cheat on him?"
"Chloe did, it's obvious she wanted fame and fortune."
She smiles. "I see."
Eddie finishes his first song. "Congratulations to the senior class."
The crowd screams. "Enjoy your last few weeks, I missed out on my graduation, wish I could have attended my prom, this next song is for the lovely ladies here tonight."
Loren hasn't moved from where she's been standing, she sways when he begins his next song. "He's perfect Mel, love him."
Mel's busy looking through her phone. "Get this, he divorced Chloe, I knew this would happen, he married too young! What was he thinking?"
Loren wonders what Mel is rambling about. "What are you doing?"
"Getting updates on Duran, did you hear me, he's a free man!"
Loren hasn't taken her eyes off of him. Mel goes on. "He's 22, too young to settle with that snake, I knew it wouldn't last, Chloe is exactly like Lucy, they're one of a kind!"
"You mean two of a kind." Loren sighs. "Do you think he'll fall in love again?" Loren wonders.
"Why not? He hasn't met the right girl yet!" She shoves Loren on her side.
She smiles. "There's still hope, I have to design something for him, I have to meet him."
"I'm sure you will, he's here."
"I can stand here and listen to him all night long, he's the music to my heart Mel, he inspires me, I am who I am, thanks to him."
Mel's happy for her bestie. "You're loving this."
"This will be a memorable Prom, I didn't need a date, Eddie's here."
Mel stands on her toes trying to get a good look at Eddie who's still on stage. "He's gorgeous, he's great to look at, those muscles and tan fit perfectly with his body."
Loren shakes her head. "I swear that's all you ever see."
Eddie treats the seniors with another song and walks off stage. He heads towards Evan. "I'll see you soon."
"I owe you big time; I wanted to make my girl happy."
"I can see that, why isn't she dancing with you?"
"I trust her." Lucy notices he's leaving and drops what she's doing, she heads towards Eddie and Evan.
"You were amazing and superb, I don't know how to thank you Eddie." She says in a flirty tone.
"It's my pleasure." He walks towards the door, she follows him. "Can I call you sometime?"
He looks at her wondering if she's serious. "Your name is Loren?"
"You remembered!"
"You can't call me, you're my cousin's girl, I don't do that!"
"We're dating, it's nothing serious, just say the word and I'm all yours." She places her hand on his shoulder. Evan is quiet. Eddie pushes her hand off. "I said no!"
He walks away. Loren and Mel see him exit the auditorium. "Omg, did you see Lucy, she was flirting with him?"
"Of course, that's what she does best." Loren states.
"Maybe we can meet him one day, we could ask Evan."
"He left, Mel." Loren sighs.
"You should run out and say hello!"
"No, it's okay, I'm happy I got to see him this close."
Meanwhile….
"Why did you tell him I was your girl?" Lucy yells at Evan.
"We're dating; why did you say your name was Loren?"
"Because Loren is pathetic that's why, I'll find a way to meet him, then tell him, I'm Lucy."
"What! You want to pursue this?"
She glares at him. "Haven't you learned anything? I get what I want, if you want to say I'm your girl, you better go along with it!"
Evan doesn't say anything, she has a way of talking down to him, he doesn't have the nerve to argue with her, he loves her too much, he hopes there's still a chance to save what they have. She walks away, Mel walks towards him.
"You're stupid Evan, why do you allow her to treat you like this? Are you sure you're related to Eddie?"
He scratches his head. "I am."
"You're a nice guy, you're handsome and sweet, I don't understand what you see in her." Mel adds.
He down cast his look. "I love her Mel, she's perfect."
Mel throws her arms in the air. "I will never understand you, Lucy isn't a nice person, she's with you to get something, the moment she has it, you'll be dumped."
Several weeks later, Loren and her senior class graduate high school. Loren stays busy with her fashion designs; she registers at a nearby school that specializes in designing.
She will take extra classes. The teachers are very impressed with her talent. "You have what it takes to get where you want to in this business, these fashions are superb."
"Thanks." Loren smiles.
"I think I will send you to see Jake Madsen, the girls who perform with Eddie Duran are looking for something different, I think you have what it takes."
"Really? I would really love the opportunity to work with Mr. Madsen."
"Get your things together ..." She writes some information on a piece of paper. "I'll call Jake, be there by noon."
"Great, I'll get my sketches ready."
Eddie spends most of his time rehearsing at the Avalon. He's been touring Europe, after a messy divorce, people ask too many questions about his private life, it's none of their business, he stays busy and that helps him to cope. He's close to finishing his 4th album, he's accomplished a lot at 24.
Lucy keeps Evan on his toes. "I want tickets for next weekend's show, I want to go back stage and spend time with Eddie."
"He's not going to be happy, you're coming on too strong."
She laughs. "Don't forget it's Loren, he hasn't met pretty sweet Lucy."
"Why do you insist on doing this to Loren? She's your sister!"
Lucy rolls her eyes; she hits Evan on the chest with her finger. "Listen, if you do as I say, then we'll be very happy, let me handle Eddie, I want to get to know him, I've had a crush on him."
"Are you sure it's just a crush? You sound obsessed!"
She leans on Evan. "Don't be jealous, you know you're my man." She leans in and kisses him. He holds pulls her close to him. She pulls away. "Don't get carried away." She takes his arms off of her waist.
Meanwhile,
Loren rushes to Jake's office.
She arrives and hands him her teachers' note. Loren smiles, she's very excited to be there.
"Deb called me; let me see what you have."
He looks through her sketches. "I'm impressed, I'll let my assistant take you to the back, she can show you what we want, maybe you can take it from there, we'll decide if you're going to do the designs this year."
"Thank you for the opportunity." Jake calls Kelly, she's in his office within minutes.
She takes Loren to the back room; she's told what the dancers need. She listens carefully, she takes a seat and begins to sketch.
On the other side of the office, Evan walks in with Lucy. "Is Eddie here?"
"He's recording, what do you want?"
"I need to see him; I won't be long."
Jake's busy on the phone and signals Evan to where Eddie's at. Lucy moves her hat to the side and trails behind him.
Eddie finished recording. He smiles when he sees Evan.
"What's up Cuz?"
Lucy appears from behind Evan with a huge smile. "Hi there."
You can tell by Eddie's expression he isn't pleased. "Why are you here?"
"I'm sorry cousin; my girl wants an autograph for some little girls she'll be visiting at the hospital."
Eddie isn't convinced. "You visit hospitals?"
Lucy gets really close to him. "Is there a doubt? I'm a very good girl."
Eddie shakes his head. "Wow, you're unbelievable." He turns to Evan. "This is the last time you come here with her." He takes out a few pictures he has in a nearby drawer.
"Here, don't take this the wrong way Loren, don't come back."
Lucy bites her lower lip. "Oh my, you even more gorgeous when you're upset, I like that in a man."
She tries holding his arm, he moves. He's never been so disgusted with a girl, until now.
"Please leave Evan, I'm calling security, if you need to see me, call me before you show up, I don't want to see you here."
Evan doesn't say another word; he's totally under Lucy's control, he grabs her hand and pulls her towards the exit. She smiles.
"Bye handsome, you're going to see a lot of me; I'm not giving up on you."
Eddie slams the door behind him. Evan furrows his eyes. "What are you doing?"
"Shut up! I'm going to get Eddie."
"You're my girl, he's my cousin, he's not happy with you!"
"He's not too happy with Loren, he doesn't know I'm Lucy, you better not say anything to him."
"Why are you doing this to your sister?"
"She needs excitement in her life!"
"Making her look bad with Eddie? You know how much she loves him."
She gets her bag. "That's her problem!"
Loren's in the back office sketching several designs. "I think this is it, what do you think?"
She looks at the sketches. "This is amazing Loren! How old are you again?"
She smiles. "18, this has always been my passion."
"We should show this to the girls, and make sure Eddie approves it."
Loren bites her lower lip. "That would be great, he inspires me."
Kelly smiles. "That's great; he's going to love hearing that."
Loren starts to place the sketches into piles. "Are they going to see these now?"
"Yes, let me get them." Kelly steps out, and within a few minutes she returns with the 6 dancers that dance while Eddie performs, they look at the sketches and smile. "We love it, we approve, we definitely want her to do it."
Loren smiles from ear to ear. "That's a huge honor."
"Before you leave, send Eddie in here."
"Sure."
Loren's going to pass out at the thought of meeting her one and only Eddie Duran.
"Tell Eddie, I'll be right back."
"Are you sure? Don't be too long."
She feels very nervous. She turns to put her pencils away, the door opens, Eddie walks in.
"Where's Kelly?"
Loren smiles. "She'll be right back, Hi, I'm Loren, nice to meet you." She extends her hand towards him.
He furrows his eyes brows, his look changes. "What the hell are you doing here?!"
Loren's shocked. "Excuse me?"
"I thought I told you to leave me alone!" He exits the room and slams the door behind him. Loren freezes where she stands; her heart shattered into a million pieces. "Huh?"
