"Oh, you're on a dragon. Interesting. Wait, you're on a dragon?!" the blonde girl shrieks. "How could you betray me! We were going to experience our first dragon ride together!"
Blade smiles sheepishly. "Look, Anju, we still can." he says.
"We can't. You already experienced your first ride. That kind of defeats the point." the girl snaps.
"I'm sorry Anju! Can you forgive me?" he hopes.
"I came to find you to tell you my parents and I are moving tomorrow. I wanted to experience a dragon ride with you first but you beat me to it so I guess this is goodbye." Anju explains then turns on her heels.
She strolls down to the docks of Berserker Cay as her best friend bangs his head on Swifter's neck.
"I lost her." he mumbles. "I lost my best friend."
Alvi and Zephyr jump off their dragons and reach up to give him a joint hug. The two girls broke apart as Heather walks towards the trio.
"I saw Anju's father walk to the docks, is something happening?" Heather asks aloud.
"Anju's moving away." she hears her son sniffle and glance up.
Heather sighs and sets the two saddlebags down before she strolls towards Swifter. She presses her lips to Blade's forehead.
"I'm sorry you lost her. I know the two of you were close." she whispers to him.
"It's okay, mom. She's just upset I broke our promise." the young Berserker smiles softly.
He reaches his arms out and hugs his mom. "I love you mommy." he murmurs.
"Aw, I love you too sweetie." Heather smiles at Blade as he sits up straighter on Swifter's back.
The future chief of Berserker Cay watches his mom bend down to pick up the two saddlebags then walk over to Windshear. She ties them tightly to the Razorwhip's saddle.
"Dagur, tell Rajiv we'll be staying at Berk for awhile." Heather calls out. "He'll worry if you don't tell him."
"Yes, sister!" Dagur salutes her. "Tell that nephew of ours to behave himself!"
The raven haired warrior rolls her eyes. "Can't promise anything. He is a born Berserker." she says.
"True." her brother agrees as her sister-in-law smacks him on the arm.
"Take care Heather and Blade, behave yourself." Mala tells the duo.
Heather's son salutes playfully to his aunt and uncle.
"Got it, Aunt Mala!" he shouts then turns to his mom. "Can we go already?"
"Bye everyone!" Heather waves to her people for a good minute before her beloved Razorwhip shoots into the sky.
Meatlug, Tatsu, and Dart follow suit while Swifter darts up into the sky; moving to fly beside Windshear. The Razorwhip is behind Tatsu and Dart. Meatlug is at the front, bravely leading the group to New Berk.
TWO HOURS LATER
Swifter glides through the sky as her body is next to Dart. The two furies grin at each other when they get an idea for a bit of a race. They want to see who is faster so may the best female fury win.
"Woah! Dart!" Zephyr shrieks as Dart zips ahead.
"Zeph! Be careful!" Alvi screams. "Dad! Do something!"
"Ah! SWIFTER!" The two hear Blade shriek as Swifter flies after Dart.
"Calm down! It's just a race. Female fury versus female fury." Heather grins. I have a feeling Swifter will win.
The once perfect clear sky is forming clouds, making their line of sight a bit worse. All of a sudden a single drop of water lands on Alvi's head.
"Great!" she whines. "Now it's raining!"
"She's right! Blade! Zephyr! Bring your furies back!" Fishlegs calls out but gets no response.
ZEPHYR
The eldest Haddock child groans as she pulls her body to her feet. She fixates her blue eyes to look around her, quickly spotting her bonded dragon.
"Dart!" she screams and races over to the dragon.
Dart peeks an eye open, opening both her blue eyes in happiness. She eagerly licks Zephyr's face.
"Ugh, dragon slobber." she mutters and flicks it off her face.
Her dragon merely gives her a toothless smile. "I forgive you. Now, I suppose we should find Blade and whatever dragon he was flying." she says.
The two start walking and only get three feet before Zephyr bends down to pick up a stick. Dart tosses her a look.
"What? It's for self defense! You never know what could happen!" the girl defends herself.
She continues walking north with Dart at her side. The female duo manage to get further when a dragon roar echoes the island or wherever they are.
"Dart? What was that?" Zephyr frowns.
Dart trudges forward. "You think we should follow it?" her bonded rider asks her.
The NightLight nods her head as Zephyr shrugs her shoulders. "Okay. Guess we're heading towards the dragon roar." she replies.
TEN MINUTES LATER
Zephyr Haddock gasps when she halts her steps. She makes haste and quickly fishes out her dragon journal. Her eyes dart from the journal to the dragon in front of her. Black sleek body with stunning blue eyes, cream colored underbelly as well as cream colored tail. Blue dipped paws and wings with pure white claws. It is fighting another dragon, a larger black one with a crimson colored tail that releases red fire.
She spots Blade waving a stick in front of the black red tailed dragon.
"Stay away from her!" he shouts. "Or else, face my stick!"
The red fiery tail lets loose it's fire as Blade gasps and leaps to the side. Zephyr closes her journal and tucks it into her pouch before she races to his aid.
The Haddock girl holds a hand out to help him up. Blade takes it and pants heavily.
"What is a Night Frillclaw doing here?!" he shrieks.
"That's a Night Friller? Wow." Zephyr gapes then eyes her pouch. "I'm going to have to add it to my journal."
"Do it later! Let's survive this first!" Blade shouts. "Sky, get out of here girl!"
He orders the unknown dragon Zephyr captured in her journal just minutes ago. The dragon nuzzles his arm before she jumps into the sky. Dart follows her lead as the two female furies hover in the sky above their humans.
The Night Frillclaw releases another wave of fire as the two humans jump to the side to avoid being burnt to a crisp.
"Hey Blade? What if we fight back?" Zephyr asks aloud and quickly rolls to avoid the tail.
Blade jumps over the tail. "On the dragons' backs? No. It can hurt dragons." he replies back.
"Well it sounded like a good idea until you pointed that out." Zephyr mutters.
"I have an idea!" Blade hollers. "Watch my back, would you?"
"Just what is your idea exactly?!" the girl shouts back. "Running right at the deadly dragon sounds like a bad idea!"
"I'm not running at it! I'm going to train it!" Blade responds.
"ARE YOU INSANE?!" Zephyr shouts as loud as she can.
"Insane is my middle name! Berserker remember!" he jokes.
"Ugh! I can't believe I'm stuck with you." the auburn girl growls.
HEATHER
She sits on the ledge with a rock in her hand, sharpening her double bladed axe. The small group of four chose to wait out the storm but as a mother before rider; she can't help but worry about Blade.
A black and white fury lands behind her as Zephyr jumps off. Another fury lands next to the first one with her rider looking down.
"You know, if you didn't attempt to train the dragon; maybe you wouldn't have gotten your face burned." Zephyr comments with a smirk. "After all, it was your insane idea. We could've just used mine and fight the dragon from our dragons' backs."
"And let our dragons get hurt? No thank you." the voice snaps.
Heather turns around and immediately drops her rock and axe. She dashes to her feet and races over to Swifter. She traces her hands gently across her son's burn.
"What happened, sweetie?" she demands.
"It's nothing mom." Blade responds. "It's just me being an idiot."
Fishlegs gestures for Heather to step away as he walks up to the dragon. The young berserker's mother lifts him off of Swifter where he collapses in her arms.
"Is it poison?" Heather asks Fishlegs worriedly.
The bulky Viking sighs and treats the burn by merely covering it with a bandage.
"I don't know. We have to get back to Berk, Gothi would know." he tells her.
"Please, he's only six." the woman whispers. "I can't lose him. He's all Rajiv and I have."
"He's a fighter. I'm sure he'll survive this; Heather." Fishlegs smiles.
HALF AN HOUR LATER AT NEW BERK
Blade yelps as an elder of Berk pokes and prods him, gently wrapping some extra bandages over his face. She then ties it at the back and steps back, proud of her work. The elder's dominant hand grasps her staff, looking down and writing runes in the sand at the boy's feet.
"She says he will be fine. His burns didn't damage anything serious so they should heal as lone as the bandage stays on. He's not allowed to take it off until then." an auburn haired man says while leaning over the elder's frail body.
"So he'll be blind, for the time?" his mom asks.
"Gothi says until the burns heal, yes." the man translated.
