Heart-broken Chapter 3

Kelly's walks back into the room; she notices Eddie rushes out of the room.

She catches up to him. "Where are you going?"

"What is she doing here?" He asks.

Kelly's shocked, she doesn't understand. "Who Loren?"

"Yes Loren!" His tone is harsh.

"She came in to design costumes for the girls, why?" Kelly wonders.

"Just keep her away from me!"

"What's your problem?"

"Do what I asked, or you're out of here too!" He grabs his jacket and storms out the building.

Kelly walks into the room to find Loren holding back tears. "What did I do wrong?"

"I was going to ask you the same thing."

"I don't know, he saw me and he was very upset, is it the sketches?"

"He didn't say Loren, go home and finish the sketches, we can start working on the costumes for the girls from your home."

Loren gathers her things and leaves, she gets into her car and finally lets the tears flow, she's confused, she met Eddie, he was very upset with her.

She finally gets home and heads straight to her room. Her grandmother follows her. "You're home Lorenita."

"Hi Nana."

She walks closer to her. "What happened? You've been crying."

"I'm ok, I got my first job today."

"I know you, is it Lucy again?"

"No, I'm just tired, I feel overwhelmed Nana."

"If you need to talk, you know where I am, Melissa called, she's coming to pick up her sweater or jacket."

"Let her in."

"Nora will be serving dinner soon, invite Melissa to join us."

Mel arrives and heads to Loren's room. She finds her sitting by the window. "How was it? Did you meet Eddie?"

She turns towards Mel, she's crying. "He hates me Mel."

"What? Who hates you?"

"Eddie, he came into the room to see my sketches, he was very upset when he saw me!"

Mel sits by her side. "What do you mean? Why would he be upset?"

"I don't know, I'm heart-broken, I love him, he's my inspiration, he was really mad when he saw me standing there, I don't understand what happened."

"Did you ask him?"

"I didn't have a chance; he stormed out of the room."

A few days later Loren runs into Evan. "Hey Loren, I heard you got the job."

"Thanks to my teacher."

"I bet you're happy?"

"I thought I would be, I met Eddie."

Evan's eyes widen. "I'm happy you finally met him."

"Not really, he was very upset when he saw me in the room; I don't understand why."

Evan's heart sinks. "Listen Loren."

Lucy walks in. "I heard my dear sister is designing costumes for Eddie Duran." She pinches Evan's arm. He looks at her and down cast his look.

"Leave me alone, I don't need you making fun of what I do."

"Of course not sister dear, I'm very excited for you."

Loren walks away, as soon as she's out of sight, Lucy turns towards Evan. "You were going to tell her weren't you?"

"Do you realize what you've done?"

"I've done nothing wrong!"

"Eddie hates Loren because of you."

"I swear if you say anything I will make your life miserable Evan, you say you love me, this is the moment to prove it, you stay quiet, is that clear?"

"I don't understand why you're doing this!"

"I want to get ahead in my career, look at Chloe, she married Eddie, now she's a famous model. "

"Wait, you want to marry my cousin? When he realizes who you are, he'll be able to piece everything together."

"Not before I get what I want, I want to be like Chloe, there's no need to marry Eddie to get what I want, that's where you come in, you're going to help me."

"Are we still going to be a couple?"

"As long as you stay quiet, you will always have me Evan."

She leans in to kiss him. "Will you help me?"

"You know I'd do anything for you, the moment I saw you, I fell in love with you."

"I think it was Loren you saw; I make things more appealing." She smirks.

Lucy continues to manipulate Evan into getting her interviews, she's casted for several jobs, thanks to Evan who tricks Eddie into helping him. Loren continues to excel in fashion school, two years later she and Mel move into a small condo near Los Angeles. Loren works hard, she's part of a huge fashion designing group that works with Hollywood's famous, she's going to make a name for herself with her designs. She labels her designs, "LoRa's" Lo for Loren and Ra for her mom Nora. Mel follows her dream and becomes an amazing Chef.

Loren continues to follow Eddie's career, she's heart-broken still wondering why he disliked her so much, he starts to date again, Lucy finds ways to see Eddie, she loves making him believe she's Loren, Eddie spends time with his parents, they're still in the business, they both manage his career, they help Jake manage Hollywood's biggest artists.

Mel loves to cook, she starts to cater, she's good at what she does, she's well known amongst several celebrities. She and Loren share a beautiful condo. Mel's very excited; she finds Loren working on some designs.

"I have several catering jobs."

"I'm excited for you."

"We're going to become Hollywood's famous duet."

Loren smiles. "I know, I design and you cook, I think it's pretty cool."

"Yes I'm really happy we can do so much together."

And that's exactly what they do, Mel starts to cater small dinner parties for the children of Hollywood's elite couples, she finds a way of introducing Loren's designs.

Kelly calls Mel and to tell her Katy Duran is having a dinner party to celebrate Eddie latest album release. Katy's happy to have her cater the dinner for her.

Mel finishes talking to Kelly and squeals. "I'm catering for the Duran's!"

"Wow, that's exciting!"

"I'm going to need help."

"No way, I'm not going anywhere near them."

"I need you to help me set up."

"Eddie will be there, what if he's upset again; I can't ruin your chance to cater for them!"

"You won't see him; you'll stay in the area away from where ever they are."

Loren sighs. "I don't know; I would love too."

"Then it's settled, get ready to help me, I need your help, please?"

"Ok!" Loren agrees, she's worried.

A few days later, Mel arrives with Loren to the Duran's home; she has her equipment and food ready.

Katy walks into the kitchen. "It's nice to meet you Melissa."

"Are you kidding me? It's my pleasure Katy; this is my best friend, Loren Tate."

"Hi, nice to meet you Loren."

"My pleasure Mrs. Duran."

"You can call me Katy; I'm excited to have you here."

Mel smiles. "Loren is helping, she's into fashion designing."

Katy turns towards Loren. "Really?"

"Yes, I have my own line, LoRa's!"

"Are you serious? I own several of your designs, you're very talented."

Loren can't help but smile. "Thank you so much, I'm honored."

Katy takes off her jacket. "Look!"

She shows Loren she's wearing one of her tops. "I love the material you use. It's soft and fits perfectly."

"Thank you, Katy."

"Katy, Max needs your help…" He doesn't finish. "Well hello."

He takes her hand and kisses it. "Who may I ask is this lovely lady?"

Katy rolls her eyes. "Kevin, this is Loren." She turns towards her. "This is my brother Kevin."

"Nice to meet you."

She smiles. "Same here Kevin."

"Sis, you didn't tell me we were having a beautiful lady with us."

Mel coughs to get his attention. "I'm Mel!"

He kisses her hand too. "Hello Mel!"

Katy shakes her head and grabs Kevin from behind. "Let the girls do their job, go make sure everything is ready outside."

"Okay sis, Loren, I will see you later."

Katy's mortified. "I'm sorry about that, he's a huge flirt."

"It's ok, he's cute."

"Are you dating?" Katy asks.

"No not yet, I've concentrated on school and my degree for fashion designing, that's the last thing on my mind."

"You're very beautiful, I'm sure you must have a ton of boys fighting for your affection?"

"No, not really."

Loren continues to fill the containers that will have the salad dressing in them. Max walks in. "Honey, everything is ready outside."

"I know, we're just about done in here, this is Loren."

Max extends his hand towards Loren. "Nice to meet you."

"My pleasure Mr. Duran."

Mel walks in. "Everything is set; Loren can you bring the salad dressings to the table?"

"Of course, I'm all done."

Evan walks in. "Aunt Katy, I won't be able to stay too long."

"You haven't been able to stay in a while, what's up?"

"I'm busy with work, and my girlfriend."

"Speaking of your girlfriend, when are we going to meet that young lady?"

"I promise it'll be soon."

"You can leave but.."

"Oh oh, there's a but?"

"You have to stay and eat, and mingle for a while."

Evan looks around. "Is Eddie here?"

"He has a meeting with Jake."

"I'm starving Aunt Katy."

"The food is almost ready; the girls I hired are getting in all set up in the back."

"Where is Lou?"

"He retired, Kelly saved the day, she recommended the girls that are here today."

Evan takes a piece of bread and starts to eat it. "I hope they cook as well as Lou did."

"Everything she preparing looks very delicious."

Max walks back into the kitchen. "Eddie is about 5 minutes away."

"Everything is ready."

Max smiles when he sees his nephew. "Hey stranger."

"I know, Aunt Katy insisted I stay and eat, then I'll leave to see my girl."

Max rolls his eyes and he guides Evan towards the deck area. "You should marry this girl, how long have you two been dating?"

"Since high school."

"You have to bring her to dinner; you haven't introduced us to this amazing girl you're always talking about."
Evan lets out a small sigh. "I know, she's amazing, I can't see my life without her Uncle Max."

"Then I can safely say you've met the right girl, time to start making wise choices."

Eddie walks in. "Let dinner begin!"

Katy hugs him and pecks his cheek. "Now we can eat."

She signals everyone to go outside. She walks back to the kitchen and peeks through the door. "We are ready when you are."

Mel hands the two waiters the trays, they head towards the deck. Mel turns towards Loren. "I heard Eddie is here, you can stay here, and make sure the plates are ready, I'll hand them over to the waiters."

Loren cringes. "This is a nightmare; why should I be hiding from Eddie?"

"I don't know what his problem is."

I'll get the plates ready; you make sure the waiters take them."

Meanwhile back on deck….

Max gives a small speech, he always has a few jokes to throw in and congratulates his son, he's very proud of his accomplishments.

The waiters place a plate in front of every guest; there's at least 40 people.

Eddie smiles when he sees Evan. "Hey cuz, good to see you."

"Aunt Katy insisted I stay."

"I'm glad, we miss you."

"Thanks.." They eat, Katy notices they're low on the sauce for the pasta. Evan volunteers to get some at the kitchen.

He walks into the Kitchen; his eyes widen when he sees Mel standing there. "You're here?"

"Yes! I'm excited your Aunt hired me."

"Wow. The food is really good."

"Thanks." Loren hears his voice and walks around to greet him. "Hi Evan."

"Loren?"

"I know, I know, I'm helping Mel today."

"Has Eddie seen you?"

Loren bites her lower lip. Her eyes say it all. "No, why do you ask?"

Back at the dinner party…

Katy walks towards the door. "What is taking Evan so long?"

Eddie smiles. "If there are girls back there, he's probably flirting."

"Let me go and get him." Katy says.

"It's ok mom, I'll go, you stay here with everyone."

Eddie walks to the kitchen and kicks the door open. "Evan what's taking so long?"

His eyes go directly to Loren. Evan speaks up immediately. "I was on my way."

"Your girlfriend is here?"

Loren's eyes furrow. "His girlfriend?"

Evan panics, he grabs Loren and kisses her. Mel's eyes widen. "Evan!"

Poor Loren can't seem to catch a break, now what?
