The truth comes out Chapter 5
Loren's grandma stands up. "What happened? Lucy what have you done?"
"Nothing!." She walks ahead of Loren.
Mel walks towards Loren; she drags Evan by the arm. "Lucy told everyone you're dating this idiot! I knew it!"
Lucy jumps in. "You're stupid Evan!"
Evan pulls away. "She said she knew what I did!"
"She tricked you, you're an idiot!" Loren's numb, she can't even speak. She looks at her sister. "Why are you trying to hurt me? We're sisters Lucy, why?"
"I'm not hurting anyone."
"You know how much Eddie means to me, he doesn't like me thanks to you, why?"
Lucy pulls her hair to the side and gets her luggage. "Come on Evan, after this stunt, who knows where you and I stand!"
"She tricked me."
Loren steps in front of her sister. "You're not going anywhere until you clear this mess!"
She laughs and pushes Loren out of the way. "You fix it, it's your mess, I'm Lucy remember?"
She walks out and Evan trails behind her. Loren sits by her granddaughter who's very confused.
"My Lorenita, what happened? What did Lucy do?"
Loren's too hurt to say anything. She leans on her grandmother and starts to cry. Mel steps in.
"Lucy told everyone Loren is dating Evan, she made a mess with Loren's name."
Lorena is sadden. "I'm sorry; I don't know what happened to Lucy, your mom was a handful but never like this."
"She hates me Nana, I don't know why, we're sisters and we're supposed to be there for each other, not hurt each other."
Mel hugs her. "It's ok, now we know what happened?"
"How do we fix this? She doesn't care, you saw her." Loren wonders.
"I swear, she's an idiot."
Lorena gets up. "I'm going to make tea for us!
A few days later…
Loren's designing gowns for the Katy's charity event, she does one every year to help children with cancer. This year she's including Loren's designs.
Loren arrives at the Asta Arts building where Katy's holding the fashion show.
"It's all about you tonight, you're our newest designer this year"
Her eyes widen. "What do you mean?"
"I had your designs brought here; we're featuring LoRa's designs tonight for the first time."
Loren hugs her. "How can I thank you?"
"Let's throw down the house, I have several models waiting to walk down the runway with your newest designs, you may include whatever you've designed in the past."
"I can't believe this is happening."
"You've worked alongside others; this will get your name out there."
"This is what I've been waiting for Katy."
She holds her hand. "Let's get started."
Katy guides Loren to the back part of the building where several models are being prepped for the show.
Kevin and Eddie arrive along with Max. "It's a full house."
Kevin smiles. "Are they expecting you to perform?"
"I hope not, mom said it's a fashion show."
Max smiles. "I see a lot of big shots; I wonder what and whose designs she's bringing out tonight."
"That's my sister for you; she's got a huge heart."
"That's what I love about my wife." Max says.
Eddie is a proud son.
"Mom is amazing."
Back in the dressing area, Loren is working hard to get the gowns on the models, she's placing the appropriate accessories with each dress.
Several make-up artists work on the models. Katy looks at Loren. "Are you ready?"
"As ready as I'll ever be, I don't know how to thank you."
Katy hugs her. "Let's make sure everyone loves your designs, if we get 10 people to add your designs, we're in Loren."
"I know they will, let me make sure they're ready." Loren rushes.
"Two well-known designers will start the show; you'll be the last designer to walk with the models down the runway."
Loren takes a deep breath. "I'm ready."
She walks back to her area; Katy makes sure the other two designers are ready.
Lorena and Nora walk into the Asta Arts building with Mel. "Are you sure it's okay to be here Melissa?"
"Yes Nana, Loren asked, it's ok, this is her first show, we're here to support our girl."
Nora scans the area. "Everyone is dressed very fancy, we're in regular clothes, we don't want to embarrass Loren."
"Come on; let me find out where Loren is?"
Kevin spots Mel and waves. Eddie and Max turn to see Kevin walking towards them.
"Hi, do you know where we can find Loren?"
"I believe she's in the back, let me take you."
Mel acknowledges Lorena and Nora. "Kevin, this is Loren's Grandmother Lorena and Aunt Nora."
He extends his hand. "Nice to meet you, follow me, I'll take you to Loren."
Both ladies smile. "Nice meeting you too."
Kevin walks ahead of them, he signals the security officer standing by the rear entrance, he moves and all four walk through.
Katy spots Kevin. "What are you doing here?"
"Sis, this is Loren's grandmother and Aunt, I'm sure you know Mel?"
"Hi, Loren said it was ok to bring them to her first show."
"Of course, Loren is busy right now, come with me, there's an area you can sit and watch the whole show, you can see her after she's done."
Lorena brings Katy into a hug. "Lorenita is right, she said you are a sweet beautiful lady."
"That's very sweet, thank you." Katy smiles.
She guides them to an area of the building where they can watch the fashion show.
Meanwhile…
Lucy argues with Evan a few miles away. "I thought I told you I wanted to be a model in the show your aunt is doing!"
"It's not safe Lucy, my whole family is there, Loren's there with my Aunt."
"So what?" She stands with her hands on her hip. Evan sighs.
"I can't help you this time Lucy."
"I knew it, the moment you told everyone what I was doing to her, nothing is working out."
"Not everyone knows, I was tricked into revealing the truth, don't think Mel has said anything."
"You should know how much Mel hates me; you should use your head when you talk to Melissa!"
Evan is quiet, it doesn't matter how much he says, it's never good enough for Lucy, it's always her way or the highway, he can't argue with her, she's his world, no one can understand what he sees in her, she's demanding and loud, and expects everyone to go along with whatever she says or does, if she's wrong, it really doesn't matter.
"Come on Evan, we're going there tonight, Loren will be in the back area, you'll tell your aunt to let me be one of the models."
"Why can't we go and have dinner somewhere, I'll take you shopping, you can buy whatever you want."
"You always take me shopping, I want to go there right now!"
"I'll take you were ever you want to eat, I'll call my uncle Max and borrow the Jet, we can fly somewhere for dinner."
She's annoyed. "I would go any other day, I want to model, your aunt knows a lot of important people, I want to be discovered and make millions!"
Evan lets out a heavy sigh. "It's a charity event, my aunt does one every year, she raises money and introduces new designers into the fashion world."
She grabs her bag and pulls him by his shirt. "You figure out something, because we're going."
Back at the Asta Arts building, Loren makes sure the models are perfect for the runway; she wants to be a hit that night. The other two designers walked across the runway.
Lorena hugs Loren from behind. "You're going to be amazing my Lorenita."
She smiles, hearing her Nana say those words bring her so much comfort, she's grateful to have Nana and Nora in her life, her mom is always in her thoughts.
"Thank you Nana, that means so much to me, I want this, I want to be the best designer this city has ever seen."
"You will be, your Abuelo would be so proud of you." (Abuelo is grandpa)
Her smile is huge. "I know Nana, he would be!"
Katy walks in. "Loren your next, are you ready?"
"Yes Katy." She turns towards her grandmother. "Here, I go."
Nora runs to her side. "You're going to be a huge hit."
"Thank you Aunt Nora."
Loren walks towards the models, they're ready to take the runway. "Let's do this Ladies!"
They walk through the area where the other models are exiting the runway, the music starts, they begin their stroll down the runway.
Mel and Nora watch closely, each girl show the designs made exclusively by Loren.
"What do you think Nora?"
"I think she's amazing; everyone is looking at every single detail on those gowns."
Katy walks down the stairs and makes her way towards Max. "How's the show?"
"To be honest, this last designer has everyone looking."
"They weren't interested in the other designers?"
"You're doing great; this charity events help so many kids every year."
"I know; I want to give new designers the opportunities they deserve."
"It's a hit, the last designer caught their eyes."
"Guess who the newest designer is?"
Max sighs. "I wouldn't know who it is."
"It's Loren, Isn't she wonderful?"
Kevin nudges Katy's side. "I know these are Loren's designs?"
"How can you tell?"
"Look at the faces of the people watching, she has what it takes Katy."
"I know, I'm going to present her to the audience, this is the break she needs to get her designs out in Hollywood."
Outside the Asta Arts building…..
"I bet we're late Evan, I told you I wanted to do some modeling here."
"I told you my whole family is here."
"And the problem is?"
"You're already on Eddie's bad side; you don't need to make it any worse."
"It's Loren remember?"
"Maybe he already knows it's you and not your sister."
"I doubt it; Loren isn't the type to say anything!"
Evan stops. "The show is probably over, let's just go."
"No, I want you to tell your Aunt Katy I'm available to model for her anytime."
The last of models line up on the runway, giving the audience a glimpse of Loren's designs.
Katy holds Loren's hand. "You know what's next Loren?"
"You walk with me to the front of the runway and introduce me?"
"Exactly, let's go!"
Katy walks ahead, Loren walks by her side. Kevin catches sight of her first.
"Hey it's Loren; I knew my sis would make her shine!"
Eddie looks up. "What is she doing here?"
Kevin rolls his eyes. Shhh and listen."
Katy steps onto the podium. "Friends, thank you for coming here again, I know you enjoyed tonight's show."
The crowd cheers. "There were many amazing designs this year, I want to introduce this year's newest designer to join our event. Everybody please welcome Loren Tate."
She smiles, the crowd cheers. Eddie stands up. Kevin stops him. "Where are you going?"
"I can't believe mom would do this!"
"Why?"
"That's Evan's girl up there."
At that moment, Evan walks in with Lucy, Kevin catches sight of them and nudges Eddie's arm. "No, it's not, look, that's his girl, Lucy."
Eddie furrows his eyes, he looks at Evan who catches sight of them, he turns to where Loren is standing on stage, Loren catches sight of him, he numb at the sight of Loren onstage and Evan's girlfriend on the other end.
I know I know, now what? R & R guys
