Chrominos: Hmmm... What was that name again?
Kandan: Chrominos, my friend. What's on your mind?
Chrominos: Oh, this is frustrating me to no end! I simply can't recall. Oh, I have it! Zanado!
Kandan: Zanado, the Red Canyon?
Chrominos: That's it! It was not long ago that we were there... And still, I somehow managed to forget!
Kandan: What about it?
Chrominos: Well... That place brought back some fragments of my memory. I cannot help but wonder why. I feel we must return to find some answers there.
Kandan: Let's go.
Chrominos: Yes, you are right! For as the saying goes, there is no time like the present.
Camilla: Hmm... Our professor is sneaking off alone. Where to, I wonder...
Daniel: I don't recall hearing of any such plans for our class. Perhaps we should follow.
Camilla: Intrigued, are we? Yes, let's do just that. We will consider it...extra training.
(At Zanado)
Chrominos: Yes... It is all coming back to me. This structure... Oh, but it's as though my memories are clouded. The most important pieces are obscured. But I once called this home. I have no doubt. I seem to recall something...on the other side of that wall. I cannot see it, but I can still feel it... It is not my imagination. I know this to be true. We are already deep within this valley...
?: Grrrraargh!
Chrominos: Oh! What was that awful sound?!
Kandan: It was a terrible scream.
Chrominos: Look! There! At the entrance of the valley...a giant shadow!
Wild Demonic Beast: Graaargh!
Chrominos: What is it now?!
(More wild beasts appear)
Chrominos: Those hungry wolves... That howl must have riled them up. We have no choice but to fight our way out. Give it your all!
Daniel: There he is. Oh, it's good we've caught up with Kandan, but this situation is-hard to put into words, actually.
Camilla: Wolves to the front, hawks to the rear, and what appears to be a Demonic Beast at the canyon's mouth...
Daniel: A wild beast, at that. Or perhaps it's more fitting to call it a stray.
Camilla: If we can't prevail over that Demonic Beast, we won't make it out of the Red Canyon alive. The first thing we need to do is reunite with Kandan. The wolves are closing in...
(Aiden uses his Kunai to get through the wolves and reunite with his cousin, with everyone else following suit)
Kandan: Glad you two could make it.
Aiden: We didn't want you fighting alone, not even with these things.
Rhonda: Uh, guys...
Wild Demonic Beast: Graaargh!
(Wild Demonic Beast advances and Giant Birds appear)
Camilla: More hawks... This is bad. We'll be caught from both sides!
(Camilla and the others take on the beasts that stand in their path)
Richard: We got one more bad bird, and it's coming this way!
(Giant Bird appears)
Camilla: The hawks are still coming. Perhaps we should see to those before we deal with the beast.
(And they do, while Kandan and Aiden come face-to-face with the creature)
Wild Demonic Beast: Graaargh!
Chrominos: This thing... It has no will or mind to call its own. You must now strike it down! That is the best you can hope to offer this poor, lost soul.
Kandan: Sure. You ready, cousin?
Aiden: Yeah!
(And they vanquish it together)
Chrominos: Our work is done? My, my... Things did not go as planned. Let us return, before any more hawks or wolves join us. But what was that Demonic Beast doing within the Red Canyon...
Camilla: I'm glad you are safe, Professor. It was rather reckless of you to venture out alone like that.
Daniel: I suppose we came out here without permission too. If we all wish to avoid punishment... Perhaps we can all agree that we came out here for an extra-curricular activity. Let's leave it at that.
Camilla: Still, I would like to know what brought you to this valley in the first place...
Chrominos: Oh dear... I put us in a bit of danger there! We are most fortunate that those delinquents followed us... You very nearly met your end! What a marvelous professor you must be, for all your students to be so concerned.
Kandan: I'm proud of us.
Chrominos: Hmm, you seem more confident in your ability to teach. But that makes sense, as you have me to help you out. How disappointing to have dived so deep into danger, and yet to have nothing to show. Huh? What is this...strange feeling... My memories... Do you feel them stirring? How curious. You seem to have grown stronger! And all thanks to our journey to Zanado. It really was worth all that effort!
Kandan: I found something...
Chrominos: Huh? You found this? I daresay you may find a use for that. You should decide how best to use that thing. But wow! We got a lot out of this trip. It was a bother for a spell, but in the end, I feel we should think fondly of our little trip. We actually had a delightful time, wouldn't you say?
Kandan(narrating): That was the last good moment I ever had before my true destiny called, before a great war began. My name is Kandan Janus, and I have done horrible things.(A towering image of Mystik, wreathed in flames, fades into view behind him.) I have sworn to serve a great emperor. I have obeyed her every command and committed crimes in the name of the Empire. With one assault, I have betrayed and attacked everyone who used to be my friend. One by one, I have forced the warriors of the Elysium Church into retreat. Unfortunately, Irma could not stand for my actions. But I do not care, as of this moment. My name is Kandan Janus. I have done horrible things. And I have absolutely no regrets.
(He wakes up to find that he is not in Me-Hador)
Aiden: Oh, someone's finally awake.
Kandan: Where are we?
Aiden: La-Vital, a land beyond our home. And a land under the control of a group of terrorists/wicked cult called Va-Hataku.
Kandan(noticing some sounds from the forest): And I think I can hear some action in this place.
(A group of hunting dogs is seen chasing a fox and its master)
Sean: Come on boys, we almost have em right where we need em!
(Soon enough, Kandan and Aiden use both the Kunai and Sword of the Creator to halt them)
Sean: You?
?: You actually helped me?
Aiden: Don't get used to it quite yet.
Hunter 1: Hey, what're you doing here?
Hunter 2: This is our hunt!
Kandan: Sean. How long has it been?
Sean: Don't start that with me, traitor!
Kandan: Hey. Easy does it, Mr. Holy Man. No hello? How've you been?
Aiden: It sure has been a long time, I guess.
?: But even he should know all of us by now. General Seidon, at your service.
Sean: Oh great. Just when I thought this couldn't be worse, it gets worse! No matter, I'll bury you all!
Kandan: Oh, really? You and what army?(Smiles)
(Sean looks behind himself and sees that all the other hunters and all the dogs have abandoned him.)
Kandan(whispering): This is the part where you run away. Anytime.
Sean: Grr. You'll regret this!
Aiden: And stay out!
Seidon: Well now, that takes care of that.
Evita: Hello, starlight, you certainly gave everyone a scare. They're all just thrilled to see you safe and sound. But with those awful Church people, oh, what kind of trick were they trying to pull?
Aiden: Hang on a sec, you guys are enemies to them too?
Evita: As for this latest little game of ours, Reidas could sure use some help with a crucial piece of land, and Kowloon is faring no better with a tribe of rebellious warriors.
Aiden: Well, what's holding us?
Kandan(narrating): After the clash at Elysium, I thought I'd never see another clash. But the Va-Hataku were quick to give me another morsel, even after I was somewhat killed. Of course, the land Reidas was sent to claim had something else entirely.(Sounds of battle can be heard)And while seeing Sean again after all this time left a bad taste in my mouth, another surprise would make me wish I had lost my lunch sooner.
Reidas: Ah, the backup arrives. Right on time, I didn't even expect this kind of manpower before.
Aiden: What's the problem?
Reidas: Well, a group of warriors from the Elysium Church came in just when we were about to claim this land. They even upgraded it!
Seidon: Hardly an effort, but it will not delay our plans, am I correct?
Aiden: Hmmm.(A flare goes off)Looks like they know we've come!
Kandan: Well then, it's a good thing we came prepared for this!
(He, and the others slay some warriors. When inside, Kandan discovers who is leading this pushback)
Kandan: Benjamin.
Benjamin: Kandan! It has been so long. Were you on a special mission?
Kandan: Long time ago. We were taking on bandits led by the man that inadvertently led me to Elysium.
Benjamin: And then you were defending the Mausoleum from Myriad invaders, for that is how you got the Sword that you now hold.
Kandan: To the point, Benjamin! What is this all about?
Benjamin: You're still a wanted man, Kandan Janus! And if you side with the Va-Hataku and the Empire, then you've become a greater menace than first realized!
Kandan: Not a menace, but a warrior seeking reformation!
Benjamin: Then you are even more dangerous!
Kandan: In here? I should have known the fools at Elysium were plotting to take over . . .
Benjamin: Kandan, get it through your head! The Empire and the Va-Hataku are evil.
Kandan: Not the same as your lot!
Benjamin: Well, then you are lost!
Aiden(thinking): Sounds like Kandan found another bad memory, and one from his days at Elysium.
Reidas: If your cousin has found their commander, then I'll bet we'll need to step in.
Seidon: You're not the only man wanting to do that.
(The three men rush over to see that Kandan has beaten another old friend)
Reidas: Your men have scurried, your supplies are feeble, and you are beaten! Care to surrender?
Benjamin: I will, but your scourge shall never extend to Me-Hador as long as there are pure souls willing to fight! And as for you, well, your return will not go unnoticed!
Reidas: Finally, this land is under a rightful regime. Now, about Kowloon...
Kandan(narrating): Yes, what about the man? For such an evil warrior, what kind of problem was he facing aside from the tribals. Given the people I loathed to see again, I wasn't looking forward to yet another clash. And then, a letter came...
Kowloon: Dear Kandan, my apologies for the brevity of this missive, but it is time we were honest with one another. You have demonstrated your loyalty and resourcefulness to the Va-Hataku cause, and this despite (and perhaps because of) your origins. There's a treasure sought by both sides that has been in my possession for some time. I reclaimed it just before a partnership between the local Kiruni tribe and a certain warrior from Elysium got to me. Lord Corbin himself charged me to discover its meaning, a task I regret I have failed to complete. I leave it in your charge, if we are to survive.
Kandan(narrating: A trade-off? Heh, and just when things couldn't get more interesting. Alrighty then Colonel, I'll see that your package is sent.
Bone Warrior: Colonel, look.
Kowloon: Well, someone found my request to be an interesting one.
Kandan: Yes, but let's discuss matters after we've reached a safe distance.
(From a distance, Timothy looks on with an angered expression)
Moonshine: The Va-Hataku are relentless, for it seems they have backup.
Timothy: Then we must prepare for their advance, no matter the cost!
Moonshine: Of course. But still, with your aid, we have managed to deliver what you were promised.
(Both sides meet on a cliff, where both Kandan and Timothy see the exact same thing)
(Kandan(to himself): Timothy. Of all the warriors I've met, he seems to be the worst!
Timothy: You live!?(To his allies)Attack!
Kowloon: Keep together, men!
Kandan: I'll take out as many as I can.
(The two take on Moonshine and Timothy's warriors, cutting them down. As they escape another assault team, Seidon notices)
Seidon: The Colonel is coming! Loose the sails!
Aiden: You heard the General, men! Let's get out of here! Move! Move!
Reidas: Kandan!
Aiden: Mmmrrraaaaah!(He threw a barrel of gunpowder overboard with his Kunai, which landed at Timothy's feet. Reacting quickly, Kandan uses the Sword on the barrel, causing it to explode and severely wound his former friend)
Timothy: I'll get even with you for this, Kandan, if it's the last thing I ever do!
Kowloon: Heh, we got away. I owe you my life, Kandan Janus.
Kandan: As do I, Colonel.
Sever-heart: Well, I do hope they don't come back here again.
Skull-krusher: Yes, but if they do, we will show them the same kind of treatment all enemies of the Va-Hataku get!
Seidon: Guess that ends your tour of La-Vital brave warriors. But do not see this as the end of our partnership, but as the beginning of a great alliance ahead for you and your friends.
Kandan: Speaking of friends, is there any chance you have a way to get us back to Me-Hador?(Narrating)The scars of my past have opened up, but thanks to some new friends I know the future will be painted with golden opportunities for all of us. For now, it is time to return to the woman who opened my eyes to that future, and to the friends who stood by us even as I uttered the words that would change my destiny...
