Just a Kiss Chapter 9
Loren's upset. "What are you doing here?"
"I can't visit my sister?"
"What do you want?"
Eddie moves away, Lucy gets closer. "Hi handsome, where are you going? I won't bite."
"See you later Loren, thanks for dinner."
Lucy steps in front of him. "Don't leave on my account handsome, no kiss for me?"
"You're unbelievable!" Eddie groans.
Lucy walks a few steps away and looks at her nails. "I know, been told I'm amazing."
Eddie leaves, Lucy blows him a kiss, she laughs aloud, Lucy looks at her sister.
"Is he as good a kisser?"
Loren's mad. "None of your business, what do you want?"
"I need to borrow your car."
"Mel is using my car."
"Where is Mel's car?"
"At the mechanic's, I need you to leave Lucy."
"You're still blushing, I bet that kiss was amazing, wait, was it your first kiss? Too bad you have nothing to compare it too."
"It was a beautiful kiss; he's beautiful and.."
"Oh no, you're in love with him? Aren't you? I'm excited for you, my sister the nerd found love, I don't think he'll ever love you back, you will remind him of me, too bad sister dear."
"Get out and leave me alone!" Loren points towards the door.
"I want you to be ready, he might not reciprocate your love."
"Why would you say that? We're not alike! He knows we're different."
"Stop being so dramatic, get ready dear sis, he'll never love you."
Loren's eyes fill with tears. "Please leave."
"I don't want you to get your hopes up, I'll always be honest with you, Eddie will never fall for you, like I said, you'll remind him of me."
"Get out Lucy!"
She grabs her bag and leaves. Loren cries, she can feel his lips, she'll find a way to his heart.
Eddie's at the hospital and walks into Evan's room, Max and Kevin are there.
"Hey pops."
"How was dinner?" Max wonders.
He looks at Evan. "It was great, Loren is a great cook."
Kevin smiles. "I bet, that girl is beautiful and talented, I know Eddie noticed."
Max looks at Kevin. "Do I sense a crush?"
Kevin gets up. "Nah, she only has eyes for the Rock Star."
Max smiles. "That obvious?"
Eddie sits by Evan's side. "She's a friend."
Kevin laughs. "You're naïve nephew."
"What?" Eddie questions.
"Your lips are betraying you, do I detect a bit of lipstick? It has to be Loren, unless you decided to put some on."
Max's eyes widen. "You kissed her?"
"She kissed me!" He admits without making eye contact.
Kevin sits back down. "I knew it, that girl only has eyes for you."
"It was just a kiss Kevin, nothing more than that, it was sweet until Lucy walked in."
"Ugh, the evil twin."
"What's wrong son?"
"I can't stand Lucy, thanks to her, my cousin lies here, all thanks to her, she doesn't care, she isn't concerned about Evan, I don't have anything against Loren, when I see her, all I see is Lucy, she makes my stomach turn."
"You can't blame Loren for what her sister does, she's a different person, you understand that?"
"I know, I hope Evan wakes up and realizes Lucy is toxic."
"That's something he has to see for himself."
They turn towards the knock on the door. "Hi, I brought more pie."
Max walks towards her. "Hey Loren, we heard you made a delicious dinner?"
She's blushes, she hands Max the pie, she looks at Eddie. "How's Evan?"
"No change." Kevin says and makes his way towards Loren. "Thanks for the pie." He looks at Max. "We should get plates and forks." He looks at Max.
"No it's ok, you go."
Kevin holds his arm and signals him with his eyes. "I need you to come with me; I don't know where the nurses keep the plates."
Max catches on. "Oh yeah, lead the way."
They leave and Loren turns her attention back to Eddie. "I'm sorry Lucy ruined your evening."
"Not your fault."
"We had a great time." She walks closer to him. "I hope the kiss didn't upset you?"
He smiles. "No, that was the best part of the day."
"Really? Better than dinner and pie?"
He looks at her. "Everything was great Loren."
"I've never done anything like this before, haven't been on a date." Loren doesn't know why she's sharing so much.
"Really? You've never been on a date?"
She's a nerd, wonder what Eddie thinks, maybe he thinks she's a nerd too.
She gets closer towards him. "I'd love to get to know you better Eddie; I'm nothing like my sister."
"I know Loren; right now, I want my cousin to wake up, get better."
Loren doesn't know why she's acting like this., maybe she's aiming too high? This is Eddie Duran, the artist.
Loren looks at her watch. "It's getting late; enjoy the pie."
"Thanks again."
"See you soon." Loren leaves.
Kevin walks in holding two plates. "She left? You couldn't ask her to stay?"
"You just missed her."
"Too bad I didn't get to say good-bye."
"Listen Kevin, if you like Loren, that's fine with me."
"Come on Eddie, that girl is crazy about you, it must suck to be you."
"What?"
"Yes exactly what I said, you're young, you can't give up on love because of Chloe."
"Ugh don't remind me."
"What's the problem? Don't tell me it's Lucy?" Kevin won't give up.
"I don't know Kevin, I see Loren and I think of Lucy, and everything she's done to my cousin."
"It's not fair to Loren, she's beautiful and talented, nothing like her sister, you have to see that."
Eddie sighs, she's amazing, can he get pass that?
Loren walks into the condo placing her keys on the table. "Hey Lo, I was wondering where you were, I thought you and Eddie had dinner."
'We did, he enjoyed it."
"I see you had Nana's pie."
"That was the best part, once you eat her pies, you're hooked."
"Where did you guys go?"
"He left to see Evan, I was just there, I took them a pie."
"More pie? You're going to make Eddie fat."
"Have you seen him?"
Mel moves her eye brows up and down. "Oh god yes…how was dinner with Eddie?"
Loren hesitates, she knows she has to share. "I kissed him."
Mel spits the water she was taking a sip from; she looks at Loren. "You kissed Eddie?"
"Yes, I still can't believe it."
"Quiet shy Loren, kissed Eddie Duran?"
She rolls her eyes. "Do you have to say it that way?"
Mel holds her by the shoulders. "Ok Tate, spill it!"
"I told you I kissed him, I couldn't help it Mel, I'm falling for him, I'm in love with him, I can't allow anyone to ruin it!"
"Ruin what?"
"I remind him of Lucy, you know how he feels about her, I can't let that stop me."
"I'm impressed; I love the new Loren!"
"I'm scared Mel, I don't want to lose him because of Lucy!"
Mel hugs her. "You can't let her get in your way, how did Eddie react?"
"He kissed me back, I wrapped my arms around his neck, it was amazing."
"Bet he's a great kisser?"
'It was amazing." Loren sighs.
"What happened after the kiss?"
"You're not going to believe it, Lucy walked in on us."
"What? How?"
"We were standing by the door, he was leaving and she appears."
"She ruined the whole thing!"
"She teased for a bit, she loves to get on his nerves."
"I'm sorry, she's a witch!"
"What am I going to do? I can't allow her to get in the way."
"It's your job to convince him, you have to be strong Loren, your sister has no conscience, you can't allow her to ruin this for you."
The following day, Loren has sketches for Eddie, she's designing a new jacket, she's excited to show him, she arrives at Jake's early, she knows he's there. She arrives with coffee and a bagel with strawberry cream cheese; she asked Katy what he likes in the mornings.
Eddie is going over some notes on his piano, she wore a cute crop top and shorts, simple make-up. Her hair is wavy, Eddie catches sight of her and smiles, he exists the booth.
"Hey, you're early."
"I want to make sure you have something to eat, I have a feeling you left without breakfast, here's coffee and a bagel."
He grabs the bag and peeks inside. "Yum, my favorite, how did you know?"
She opens her sketch book and smiles. "A little bird told me." She shows him her sketches. "There's a few to pick from, tell me which ones you like."
He looks through them. "Wow Loren, you're really good, I love them all."
"I can make them all?"
He smiles. "This coffee is perfect, and the bagel too, thanks Loren."
She can't help it, she doesn't know what's happening to her, she gently holds his face; she places a soft kiss on his lips; she feels goose bumps, the butterflies are back.
He pulls away. "I'm sorry Loren, I can't!"
