Chapter Thirty-Four

It's Official - Celebrations

A/N – The last chapter was again a lot of fun for me and I hope you enjoyed it. Moving on the summer is in full swing and the big day is approaching for the new company. Everyone has a reason to celebrate especially Amy and Ty. I see an adult date in the mix. Mature Content for sure. 😊 Enjoy

After days of questions about the big date, Lyndy was happy to be busy and not be hassled by her sisters. Annie and Addie questioned her every night at dinner for a week and Maddie would go out of her way to bother her while she worked. Finally Amy stepped in and told the three investigators to ease up. Lyndy was also spending as much time with Wyatt as possible although he was splitting his duties between Heartland and the Equine Center. He still was a regular at dinner a few nights a week. On a couple of occasions his grandma had to go out of town and much to her displeasure he always stayed at Heartland. One day she was with Caleb and asked, "How come Wyatt is always scheduled to work at Heartland when his grandma is gone." He looked over blushing, "Not my question to answer kiddo, you may want to talk to your parents." She immediately walked into the office where her mom and dad were supposed to be working, only to barge in and catch them making out.. "Really mom and dad, you can make out any time you want but you won't ever let Wyatt stay with us when his grandma is out of town. Caleb spilled the beans." Amy caught her breath, "First of all we were just talking," smiling at Ty, "second we don't have enough room and Heartland does, third he is working over there half the time so it makes sends and fourth although we trust both of you we don't want to tempt the dragon." Lyndy looked at them with purpose. "Oh you mean like you used to sneak over to the loft or go to the trailer after GG went to bed, like that. And before you say anything, Katie told me because Georgie told her. The cat's out of the bag." Ty rebounded, "First off we were older and had been dating for a while. And we say so." Sticking out his tongue. She huffed and ran out as Ty and Amy laughed quietly as Ty said, "We are going to have to watch her, she is so like you." Amy poked him in the ribs, "Now where were we."

Construction was in high gear as the upcoming official commissioning of the Heartland Equestrian Expereince was a week and a half away. There was going to be an official event at city Hall in Calgary and it was already beginning to create a stir. Several local news stations would be covering it, The mayors would be there along with the president of the Alberta Equine Association. The governor had a conflict but was trying to rearrange her schedule. The Fairfield remodel was about 2/3rd of the way completed so Ben and his family were staying at the Dude Ranch. Max and Lilly were on their way for spend the entire week and due to a lack of rooms they were staying at the Miracle Ranch again, much to the kids delight. The work at the Miracle Ranch was 2-3 weeks from completion and Heartland was already completed. The Vet Clinic work was underway but due to some last-minute adjustments was still a little more than a month away. There wasn't a slowdown in workload but the Friday of the event there was some limitations, which all the clients understood. All together there would be around 50 people at the event so City Hall was prepared. The rest of the seating was for invited guest and since it was an open event, anyone who wanted to attend, They could fir up to 3000 people. Amy and Ty also decided to have their "Date" that weekend since Lilly and Max would be at their to handle the kids. They booked a suite at the Lake Bonaventure Resort just outside Calgary for the nights. They were excited and the kids were happy for some Grandma and Max time.

Final structure documents were prepared for the media that included all contact information and web sites. Once the commissioning was completed, copies would be distributed and sent to others as well. Here was the opening page:

Included in the handout was location and contact information for each location, including websites. Also there was a brief description of what each organization offered to customers. Included was a bio of each Board members as well as a mission statement for the new organization. And like the handout for the lecture/clinic, they included the history of the Bartlet/Flaming legacy. Overall it was everything that anyone needed to know. They made sure electronic copies were sent as well. With this completed and distributed the commissioning event was about to begin.

As the family and friends entered the rotunda of the Calgary City Hall building they were taken aback by the grandness of the area as well as the setup. It seemed that their new company commission was going to be on show for all. The Province of Alberta supported family businesses and when notified by the governor's office that they wanted the Heartland Equestrian Expereince to be the 'poster child' for that initiative. They were more than pleased and felt obligated to ensure that they were successful. They also expected a continuing increase in business with the added exposure. Everyone was seated and the "Board" along with Max were asked to come to the sit on the stage. Along with them both Mayors, several other political figures, members of the Alberta Equine Association and the Governor who was able to attend. As she approached the stage, she greeted Amy and Ty first, "Hello you guys, it is great to see you. Quite a day for you all and Alberta. We not only have local coverage, but there are feeds to national stations. This is getting quite the buzz." Amy smiled and hugged her saying, "Thank you and I hope you and your family are well. To say we are excited is an understatement. This is just a bit overwhelming for the entire family. Ty and I want to thank you for your support and most importantly you friendship." The Governor smiled, "I wish everything was a fun as this and I am honored that you consider us me your friend." The ceremony was called to order by the Manager of the Bureau of Commissions.

He opened, "On behalf of the City of Calgary and Province of Alberta I would like welcome you all today. I would like to recognize the Board of Directors of The Heartland Equestrian Expereince, led by their CEO and Chairman of the Board, Lisa Stillman." He motioned for all to them to stand. "Their names and information are in the packet but I would be remiss not to mention Georgie Weber, Olympic Champion competitor and trainer, Amy Borden, the famed Miracle girl as well as Dr. Ty Borden and Dr. Scott Cardinal, whose innovative surgical procedures have put Alberta on the map and have been shared throughout the educational and equine services area." He then introduce both Mayors who came up to the stage and had opening remarks as well. As each individual finished, a resounding round of applause followed. The final presenter before the ceremony was the Governor. She walked up the podium smiling at the team.

"Well good morning everyone. I can't tell you how happy I am to be able to make this event. As you may think, it is generally not typical for me to attend one of these but in the case of this event you couldn't keep me away. I first was made aware of this amazing family when Amy and Ty Borden held a lecture/clinic at the University of Calgary. My public relations team sent me information about the session and the buzz it was creating, not only locally but throughout Canada and the Northwestern US. Being a horsey girl from High River, I was more than intrigued and with their permission, attended." She paused to gather her thoughts. "Well I have to say that what I witnessed was, well, it was amazing. Amy and Ty can you joined me." The walked tentatively to the podium. The governor smiled, "Come on don't be shy. As mentioned this is Amy and Ty Borden who run the Marion Fleming Equine Center. What I saw that day was so overwhelming I needed to know more about these two amazing Albertans. I had them to the Governor's mansion to meet my family and for those of you that don't know on top of everything else that have 5 amazing children. Kids stand up." The kids tentatively stood up to resounding applause. When it settled, you could hear JT call out. "Mommy, Daddy!" The Governor laughed and called him up to the stage and surprisingly he jumped into her arms.

As Amy and Ty shrugged, she continued. "Well now that I have an assistant I can continue. This new organization is the combination of six separate family-owned business. Alberta and Canada are very supportive of companies like this and we have many fine examples of it, but, although I may be biased, this new company is the epitome of what family-owned business stands for. What they have accomplished is astounding and people like Amy, Ty and their entire family are the reason. This is a big day for Alberta and all of Canada. In fact I have an official Proclamation from the Prime Minister's Office recognizing this day that I will present to your CEO. I hope it finds a place in her office. So since I have talked to much I want to officially congratulate all of you. Best of luck with the new organization." As she stepped away the crowd erupted as she walked back to congratulate the entire Board hugging several of them. The Manager of the Bureau of Commissions came back to the podium when the group settled. "Thank you madam Governor and our other speakers. It is now my privilege to officially commission and certify the Heartland Equestrian Experience as a privately held business in good standing effective today. Ms. Stillman can you join me." He handed over the documents and plaque to her to flashing bulbs, congratulations and applause. The Board was brought up as well as everyone smiled, hugged and held each other hands in the air.

Lisa stood at the podium and preparing to speak. She was used to presenting to groups of all sizes but this time was different. She was speaking for her family and everyone that worked for them. It was more than likely the most important speech she had and will ever give. "On behalf of my family and our new organization we gratefully accept this commission from the Province of Alberta and county of Canada. We would also like to thank all of the speakers for their kind and supportive comments. But I would be remiss not to give a special thanks to our Governor. Her support and friendship are welcomed with much appreciation. And by the way Madam Governor, I know a couple of fairly reputable trainers that would love to work with you," as she pointed to Amy and Georgie. "To say we are humbled would be an understatement. This venture started with an idea between my husband Jack Bartlett and I over a year ago. We presented it to the Board because we were confident that these amazing people, our family, could make it a success. We began making some physical changes to several of our facilities several months ago and I can tell you we are poised to hit the ground running. And during the process we continue to maintain a client base and provide optimal service. As some may know I have vast experience in the business world but in all of my career I have never been more excited. On behalf of the entire organization I genuinely thank everyone who was a part of this."

After a resounding applause, the division manager came to the podium closing the session and welcoming everyone to join a reception in the outer hall. Food and beverages would be provided since it is lunch time as well as an opportunity to meet this team. The group adjourned moving to the reception. Before the family joined they gathered together to celebrate the event. The Borden kids were excited, Georgie had to go to the bathroom, Lou, Amy and Lisa couldn't stop hugging and crying, heck even Tim was positive. Lyndy along with Annie, Addie and Maddie hugged Lisa and whispered in here ear, "Mimi you were amazing and we are all proud that you are our CEO. No one is better suited. I know that GG Lyndy and Grandma Marion are very happy that you came into our lives." As Amy and Ty listened Lisa was overwhelmed with the comment. With tears in her eyes she hugged them and said, "Girls that is the kindest thing anyone has ever said to me. I know I can't replace your GG or Grandma but I know that my love for the four of you is real, just as if your were blood relations." Annie answered, "You are Mimi, we love you so much." As the hugs ended Ty and Amy called their girls over.

"Dad and I can't tell you how proud we are of you four. What you said to Mimi was amazing and very thoughtful. We all should never forget GG Lyndy and Grandma Marion but we have not doubt that Mimi loves us all completely, "Amy gushed at them and along with Ty gave them a big hug. Addie stepped in, "We know you guys are buttering us up since you are dumping us tonight for the "Big Date." I can't believe you are still here and aren't heading out to kiss and all that other yucky stuff you do." Maddie, said innocently, "What other yucky stuff?" They all laughed and headed into the reception, Annie yelling, "Let's Party!" As Amy and Ty trailed behind them he whispered, "I can't wait for the yucky stuff too Mrs. Borden," kissing her neck. Amy replied in a hush, "Trust me it will be yucky and then some." Shuttering with the thought of their alone time they kissed each other on the lips, maybe a little longer than they should have. They were interrupted by a relieved Georgie coming back from the restroom. "Geez can't you guys give it a rest, I mean you are going to a romantic hotel for the night. And remember, you have 5 kids already, just sayin." Amy smiled in Ty's chest and responded with a smirk, "Jealous much."

The reception was amazing and went on until midafternoon. The entire family was overwhelmed with congratulations about new venture. Several of them received very nice comments about the recent lecture/clinic and Georgie received congratulation on the upcoming birth of her twins. She also was congratulated over and over about her Olympic success. Several of them were interviewed by the media, specifically Amy and Ty as well as Lisa. Scott, Ty, Cassandra and Steven were interviewed by a national Equine Magazine about their recent innovative surgical procedures. Lou and Max were courted by several financial services and law firms for their business. Speaking of courting, even before the event suppliers were knocking on their door. The contract for their business would be lucrative and the team planned to leverage that size and scope. But the most impactful result of the reception was the added business they were approached about. Clint was there with his boss to informally discus a program for troubled youth. He joked, "I figured if we could fix Ty we can fix anyone." Everyone laughed but several really like the idea, for all of the individual companies. It was kind f like a job training program and they set a date to follow up to discuss in more detail. As things wound down Amy caught Ty's eye from across the room. Getting the hint he excused himself and headed to his wife. The kissed the kids goodbye and headed out for their date.

As Amy and Ty headed out to the hotel, she snuggled into his side. "Wow that was amazing and exhausting at the same time. And what those girls said to Lisa, I can't even come up with words to describe how it made me feel." Ty kissed her forehead and added, "I know they are the best kids in the world and I love them all so much. But are you too tired for tonight's date, I hope not." Amy suddenly responded, "Ty pull over, quick over there." He frantically pulled over wondering what was wrong. After he put the car in park Amy jumped in his lap straddling his waist and kissing him deeply. They kissed longer than they should have since it was the middle of the afternoon in a grocery store parking lot. After several minutes, Amy pulled away breathlessly, "I am not tired at all, I just hope you aren't." She continued her attack until Ty pulled away, "I am not let's get this date started."

They pulled up to the valet and went into the hotel to check in. Their bags were on a cart as the bellman got the room number and headed up. As they were checking in, the manager came over to greet them. "Dr. and Mrs. Borden, welcome to our hotel. We are really excited to have you join us for the evening." Looking a little confused they listened on. "Sorry, we were told of your stay and we would like to provide you with our executive sweet compliments of the Governor of our province. And in her words, "you cannot refuse, and don't complain." Overwhelmed by the generosity, they thanked the manager and headed to the room. As they approached they greeted the bellman, thanking him and giving him a generous tip. As the door close and before Amy could say let's check it out. Ty swooped up his wife into a hug and kiss, carrying her to the bedroom. The suite was unbelievable. There were several vases of flowers with cards that they would look at later. A bottle of champagne and a tray of chocolates were on the small table in the bedroom along with an assortment of teas, fruit juices and waters. They both thought that this was definitely planned and would find out later. Right now there only concern was how quick they could get each other's clothes off.

As soon as that was accomplished Amy took control. She rolled on top of her husband and began an aggressive attack kissing and touching him. She was familiar with the pleasuring of her husband but today she was raising the bar. She immediately used her lips and tongue to completely meet his male needs. He was breathless, except for moans and soft whispers of her name. She had always been an active lover but at this moment he couldn't keep up with what he was experiencing. She moved fluidly back and forth on his most stimulating areas of need. He attempted to control his release and realized he better do something soon or he would explode. Amy was highly focused on his needs, all she wanted was to devour him with her love. Seeing an opening he cupped her face to bring her back from her lust filled utopia. He whispered, "Amy I love you, I have always loved you and I will always love you." This brought her from the abyss just enough where he turned the tables, gently rolling her over and gazing into her eyes, "My turn."

After several hours they laid next to each other sweaty, exhausted and panting heavily. Amy was the first to speak, "Well that was something." Ty smiled, "Yea, all four times. But I guess we should eat something, the night is still young." She smiled and kissed him. The took a shower and got dressed for dinner, as they had reservations at the hotel's award-winning restaurant at 7:00pm. When they approached the desk they were startled when the hostess address them by name and escorted them to their table. They were seated in a secluded window table with an amazing view of the lake. They were given a glass of champagne and water and approached by the head chef. "Good evening Mr. and Mrs. Borden welcome. I would like to offer a starter dish that I have prepared just for you. We have been told that you both like to share so please enjoy. Justin will be server tonight and will provide anything you need. I will stop by later to see how dinner is going." Ty and Amy were speechless as they looked over the assortment of meats, cheeses, crackers and dried fruits. The happily fed each other and Amy even had about a half a glass of champagne. They giggled and whispered to each other sneaking small kisses.

As they were almost finished, amazingly Justin approached them with perfect timing. "Mr. And Mrs. Borden might I provide you some recommendations for dinner. Mrs. Borden I understand that you favor fish or steak cooked medium and Mr. Borden you enjoy lamb or a pork shop cooked just above medium rare." They looked at each other and laughed. "Justin, something tells us you have been coached." "Well the other day we got a phone call from a women who had 4 young girls on the phone with her. They proceeded to let us know everything you liked so our intentions are to meet their direction." He admitted with a smile. "Amy laughed and responded, "All five of our kids are amazing but those four together are quite a force to be reckoned with. Justin, we will go with what you decide." He smiled and added reading from a card, "And this an exact quote from Lisa Stillman, your meal is on Jack, your girls and I tonight, no questions asked. If you want to flip the server a big tip feel free. Your children love you deeply. You are the foundation of your family and the future of our new business venture. Jack and I love you very much. Have fun."

The meal was above outstanding and as promised the chef came later with a delicious tray of desert chocolates and freshly brewed coffee. He asked if there were any questions and thanked them for coming. As they finished they of course never received a bill buy Ty slipped a generous tip into the hand of Justin, "Thank you Justin, this was a meal to remember." The overwhelming attention continued as the night manager approached them as well to see if they needed anything. He reminded them they had late checkout and cleaning would not happen until they left. To work off of the dinner they enjoyed, they took some time to stroll along the lake front, arm in arm, not really having to say anything. The property was amazing and they both found themselves in deep thought. Remembering events from their lives that got them to where they are today. Amy remembered the night they got engaged. The magic of a shooting star and Ty's romantic proposal. She felt a little flushed as she remembered their night of love in the teepee. That night they consummated the engagement in a way that was a first for both of them. Ty remembered the first time they said they loved each other. He had never felt so fulfilled that he was capable to love someone and they loved him back. He had never experienced that before. When her young eyes looked into his and said those magic words he melted and finally believed that they were together forever. The got back to their room and enjoyed a night of slow passionate love making without an agenda, just pure love. They were as happy as they ever had been.
