The story of my life Chapter 30
Gail smiles. "You're pregnant."
Loren doesn't know why Gail ordered this. "How do you know?"
She laughs. "I have this little gut feeling; go and take the test."
Loren realizes it can't be true. Gail places the plates on the table, she gets everything ready so they can both eat.
Loren returns. "Hmmmm I'm back."
"And?"
"I'm pregnant."
Gail hugs her. "I knew it; I'm never wrong."
Loren sits. "I didn't realize my period was late."
"How late?"
"I don't know; a few weeks."
'You've been married almost 6 months."
"I know, Eddie and I haven't talked about a baby."
"You better do it today."
She sighs. "What if he's upset?"
"I'm sure he will be thrilled; listen have you seen the Dr. regarding the heart condition Lucy has?"
"Yes, I saw him while Lucy was recovering; I'm ok Gail."
"That's great; we don't need the two of you to be sick."
"I'm blessed to have you in my life Gail."
"Thank you Loren, your Dad and I feel very blessed as well."
"Let's eat; Eddie will be home soon, I have to be ready to give him the news."
Gail made sure Loren ate something, then she left; Loren sits for a while; how is she going to break the news to Eddie. She paces back and forth; wondering how she's going to tell him they're having a baby.
She stands in front of the huge mirror that hangs on the wall. She looks at her silhouette and smiles; it too soon to see a baby bump. She sighs at the thought of a baby Eddie or baby girl; she doesn't hear the door open, Eddie hugs and kisses her neck.
"What are you looking at Babe?"
"I think I look fat."
He laughs. "Oh come on; you're not going to start with that now? You're the sexiest woman I know, you're my sexy Babe."
He pulls her towards him and they kiss, Loren pulls away and looks at him. "Eddie." She starts to cry. "What's wrong?" He asks.
He holds her hand and they sit at the nearest chair. "Are you ok?"
"I don't know."
He cups her face; she looks at him. "What's wrong? Did the Dr. call? Is it your heart?"
She caresses his face. "You are the best; no worries, I'm good to go."
"Something is bothering you?"
"We've haven't discussed a baby."
He smiles. "Should we do it now?"
"It's too late for that." She's quick to say.
"Why would it be too late if?" Eddie stops his sentence and looks at her. "Loren?"
"Exactly, I knew you'd be upset."
"Upset why? Wait babe, are you pregnant?"
She looks away. "I'm sorry, we didn't talk about it."
"Loren wait.." He looks at her. "We're having a baby?"
She looks at him with a shy smile. "Yes, we are."
"Please tell me you're not teasing me!"
"I'm not teasing you, we're pregnant."
He hugs her and they kiss. A week later they're at the Dr.'s office.
She orders several test, and she orders an ultrasound. "This is your baby."
Eddie looks closer to the screen. "It's so tiny."
"I can see the heartbeat." Loren's eyes are glued to the screen.
The Dr. smiles. "It's not going to stay tiny for too long; before you know it this baby will be growing fast, kicking and moving."
Loren and Eddie are very excited. "Can't wait; when will we know what we're having?"
"You're about 6 weeks along, we will be able to see the sex of your baby in a few weeks."
Loren sighs, she looks at Eddie. "The thought of a little Eddie running around the house will be perfect; or a little princess." She can't stop smiling.
They leave the Dr.'s office, it's the perfect moment to share the baby news with the whole family. Eddie arranges a dinner party at home to surprise everyone with the baby news.
A few days later, the plans fall into place, everyone arrives; Lucy is there too, she's in a wheelchair, getting better, she's still weak, her recovery will be slow. Dinner's served, after dinner, Loren brings dessert; she and Eddie place the unusual box on a cart.
Everyone wonders what's inside the unusual box sitting in front of them.
"That's a pretty big box, or cake?" Dan tells Gail, they smile.
Loren prepares to open the box. "We thought we would share a lovely surprise with all of you."
Everyone is curious, everyone tries to figure out what they're trying to say, Lorena smiles; she known for some time that Loren is with child.
Loren opens the box, a cake in the shape of a baby is revealed; Katy looks at Max and Dan and squeals.
"Omg guys, we're going to be grandparents!"
Dan's eyes widen, he looks at Loren; she smiles and nods in agreement with Katy's words. Max is speechless, Gail can't stop smiling.
Everyone hugs the soon to be Mommy and Daddy. Katy leans on Max and cries. "A baby Max; we're going to be grandparents."
Max is proud of his family; happy to see his son Eddie very happy, he's going to be a great Dad.
Loren's pregnancy progresses, Eddie stays in the area; he's not going to miss this important event; they are told they're having a boy; Loren and Eddie can't hide their joy, they can't wait to meet their little rock star.
The fans are excited to hear a Duran baby is on the way; they don't reveal they're having a boy; that's their private moment to enjoy.
"You're not telling the media?" Max asks.
"No Pops; we want this baby to be a surprise for everyone; it's our little secret to enjoy as a family."
"It's a great idea to keep it private, I applaud you for the choice you've made."
The big day arrive, Loren's in labor, she was in the middle of working on gowns for the Oscar's, she was almost done with her labor started.
She's rushed to the hospital, Eddie's notified, he arrives at the Hospital before Loren. Several hours later, Loren gives birth to their 7-pound baby boy. He's beautiful; he has Eddie's dark hair and gorgeous brown eyes.
The news is released to the media; fans respond by sending gifts to the hospital, and the Duran home. Little Eddie makes his debut a few weeks later, all of the popular magazines bid for his first pictures; Eddie is donating the funds to a children's hospital.
Eddie holds his son; one of his favorite moments.
"I didn't think I could love someone this much." Loren agrees, she places a kiss on their baby' cheek.
Lorena loves and spoils her great grandchild; she loves to watch her granddaughter become a loving mom. "The love we feel for our children never stops; we love them and we're willing to do anything for them."
"I know Nana; I understand it now; this baby grows every day; he has his own personality; it's a precious gift I will always treasure."
"The more children you have, you'll notice how different they are."
Loren looks at her grandmother. "More?"
"Yes, I think it's a good idea." She smiles.
"Little Eddie is only 8 weeks old; I want to enjoy him before we can think of more children."
Loren loves her son and spending time with him is one of her favorite thing to do; Katy and Max are typical grandparents, they love to spoil little Eddie, Loren's father, Dan and Gail come in second, they love to spoil their Grandchild.
A year later, Kevin and Mel get married; Loren's excited Mel is part of their family; she's always seen Mel as her sister, it feels very real now.
3 years later, Eddie starts to produce Music for the new artists joining the business, he begins to manage them; his family is his priority, Loren's expecting a second baby, this is where he wants to be; Eddie Duran's tours come to an end.
Loren reads to little Eddie. He's old enough to understand he's getting a new sibling.
"When is baby coming?"
"Very soon sweetheart."
"I want a baby brother." Little Eddie says.
Loren smiles; he'll be a very happy big brother, another boy is on the way; Little Eddie loves the cameras he smiles and poses for them, he loves to greet everyone. Loren and Eddie are very proud of their little guy.
Katy has a surprise for little Eddie. "It's my turn to take you to the Zoo."
Loren smiles. "You and Gail are too sweet and funny." Loren adds.
"We love to brag about our precious boy; he's so much fun, he's almost 3 and he loves to talk."
"Make sure he's back before dinner Katy."
"I can't promise anything; I have to get him a hotdog."
"Only one please." Loren loves her mother in law.
Katy waves, she and little Eddie walk out the door.
Lucy's doing much better health wise, she will be able to have a long happy life with the meds she's taking, she loves to visit little Eddie.
"Where is my nephew?" She wonders.
Loren gives her a small smile. "It's his day with grandma Duran."
"It's not fair that I have to compete with both Grandmother's."
"You can have a turn tomorrow." Loren says.
I'm sure I will be able to spoil Mel's baby."
Loren laughs. "I love watching her walk, the infamous penguin walk, she laughed every time she saw me walking, now it's her turn."
Both girls laugh, Mel walks in. "What's so funny?"
They both see Mel and they break out laughing; Mel doesn't bother to ask. "Go ahead and make fun; you're ready to pop Loren; don't forget you're doing the same walk."
"I know." Loren can't stop laughing. "But you look so much funnier."
Weeks later, Loren has her second son; they name him Evan. Two months later, Mel has a son too; they named him Troy.
Loren couldn't be happier with her life; everything falls into place; Eddie's music continues to be very popular, he's managing a lot of great teens with bright futures.
Loren very busy with two little boys running all over the house, she continues to design; she has her own line, she designs for all of the major award show, she dresses all of the well-known celebrities.
Eddie and Loren make time for a weekly date night. "How do you get more beautiful and sexier?"
She rolls her eyes. "After two babies?"
"Yes, you've kept your shape, you're more beautiful today than the day we met." Eddie says.
They kiss, Loren pulls away and looks straight into his eyes. "You will always give me butterflies."
They kiss again. Loren giggles. "If we don't stop we're going to get into trouble again."
"And?"
"What do you mean and?"
"I think we can handle a house full of little Duran boys."
Loren looks at him "Those Duran boys will eventually grow up; can't see myself with a lot of you running around, then the dating stage will begin."
"As long as they're smart enough to get a beautiful woman like I did; they will be just fine."
"You're too much." Loren says, she leans against him. "Of course I am."
They don't realize they're being watched. Lucy loves watching how happy they are, she loves her nephews, she's grateful to enjoy every minute with them; she knows one day she'll be happy too.
Nora stops by to visit; she's married and travels with her husband. She loves Loren's little boys. Lorena sits with Nora while the boys play in their back yard.
"I know Sofia would be thrilled to see her daughters very happy." Nora adds.
"She would." Nana responds.
A few years later, little Eddie and Evan play T-ball with their dad; Loren sits a few feet away watching, she holds their new daughter Sofia Rose in her arms, her life is complete. She realizes the story of her life began with pain and disappointments, lots of struggling; but, everything fell into place; she won't be complaining any time soon.
She loves to hear the boys giggling, they tumble and throw the ball, she knows Daddy will be very tired and happy. Mel and Kevin arrive with their son; when Troy sees the boys playing, he runs towards them followed by Kevin. Mel's smiles when she sees Loren's daughter. "She's very beautiful."
"Did you notice she has wavy hair?"
"She looks a lot like you, she's precious."
Loren smiles. "I think she resembles daddy."
"Maybe a bit, the boys resemble you and Eddie."
"I have to pinch myself; I can't believe these are my children."
"You deserve it everything Loren; amazing things are headed your way."
Loren loves to watch Eddie and the boys; she catches Eddie looking at her; she blushes; he will always give her butterflies.
Mel notices. "I'm happy to report dear Loren, that the story of your life is filled with lots of love and happiness."
She agrees. "I know; I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives making beautiful memories with our children."
Loren and Mel make their way towards the guys; Eddie walks towards Loren and kisses his daughter, he locks eyes with his beautiful bride.
"I love you Babe."
"I love you too." They kiss.
Kevin hugs Mel, they watch Troy having a blast with his cousins; things are looking great for both families; Mel's right, the story of their lives will have ever lasting happiness.
