Bonded By Love-Ch 3
Penelopes brothers continued to sit by her side, they would hold her hand and talk to each other while they watched her sleep. When she finally woke up they couldn't wait to tell her the good news.
She looked up at them and weakly smiled and said, "really, have they really found a match"?, Payton said, "actually they found two but this last one is a perfect match for ya P, perfect match".
Penelope said, "so when is the transplant suppose to happen"?, Patrick said, "well your donor is on his way here now but he's several hours away". Paul said, "and Sophie said that not long after your donor gets here and they get him settled in the procedure can begin".
Meanwhile on the Rossi jet Derek, his mom and sisters were on their way heading toward California, they didn't want Derek to be alone. The team would be coming down tomorrow but Fran and the girls insisted that they fly down with Derek.
Derek grinned as he listened to his mom and sisters talk about when they were growing up, he had to admit that some of those memories were bitter sweet. Memories of his time with his father were especially sweet, he missed and loved his father dearly and at times like these he really wished he could talk to him again.
The flight to California seemed to fly by and soon they were walking through the airport heading to retrieve their luggage. Sarah looked around and saw a man and woman standing across from them holding a sign that said, "DEREK MORGAN".
She put her hand on her brothers shoulder and said, "I believe they're here for you baby brother" as she pointed to the couple. Derek and the others grabbed their bags and then made their way over to them.
The woman said, "are you Derek Morgan"?, Derek grinned and said, "guilty as charged" causing everybody to laugh. The woman held out her hand and said, "my name is Maggie Spears and this is Anthony Chapman and we're from the bone marrow registry".
Derek said, "it's nice to meet you, this is my mother Fran Morgan Rossi and my sisters Sarah and Desiree Morgan". Maggie smiled and said, "it's nice to meet you all", Fran said, "it's nice to meet you to, I'm just sorry that it's under these circumstances" and Maggie nodded her head yes in agreement.
Derek said, "I'm not sure about the proper procedure but can I ask a question"?, Maggie and Anthony nodded their heads yes. Derek said, "how is Ms. Garcia holding up"?, Maggie said, "not good I'm afraid, she is getting weaker and weaker with each passing day, she doesn't have long left I'm afraid".
Desiree said, "bless her heart, I hope that my brothers bone marrow can help her", Maggie and Anthony smiled and she said, "me to, me to" as they made their way toward the doors and their waiting car.
On the way from the airport to the hospital Derek wanted to ask questions but wasn't sure what questions to ask, well that wasn't exactly true. Their was one question that he desperately wanted the answer to.
He looked at Maggie and said, "I was wondering about something", Maggie said, "and what's that"?, Derek said, "do you think it might be possible for me to meet her"?, Maggie said, "that's not procedure, that doesn't normally happen because of confidentially for you and Ms. Garcia".
Derek said, "so it's not possible then"?, Maggie could tell that meeting Penelope was important to Derek so she said, "I'll talk to my supervisors and see what I can do". Derek smiled said, "thank you very much, I'd appreciate it" as they continued making their way toward the hospital.
A few minutes later they pulled up in front of the hospital entrance and Maggie said, "I'll take Mr. Morgan upstairs and get him settled in". Derek looked at her and said, "please call me Derek" and Maggie grinned and said, "okay Derek" as they climbed out of the car and made their way inside.
