Bonded By Love-Ch 4
After making sure that Derek was signed in and resting in his room Maggie grabbed her cell and headed out into the hall. She could tell that Derek wanted desperately to meet Penelope so she wanted to see if their was any way possible that she could make that happen.
About half an hour later she knocked on Penelopes door and they all looked up as Maggie introduced herself and stepped inside. The brothers looked at her as Maggie said, "your donor is here in the hospital, he's settled in his room but their is a slight problem".
Payton said, "problem, is something wrong with him, is he sick or has he changed his mind on helping my sister"?, Maggie said, "no, no, nothing like that, it's not really a problem it's just that he's wanting to meet you Penelope".
Penelope said, "he wants to meet me"?, Maggie nodded her head and said, "he does and I talked to my supervisor who talked to hers who talked to theirs and they said that even though it's not normal practice or policy of our registry that the final decision is yours".
Penelope looked at her brothers and they smiled and Paul said, "it's up to you P, if you want to meet it we're fine with it too". She bit down on her bottom lip and said, "if I agree to this, when will the procedure begin"?, Maggie sat down beside her bed and filled her in on the specifics.
She then looked at Penelope and said, "so about his request, will you meet with him"?, Penelope sighed and said, "yeah, I guess it's okay, I mean he flew all this way and he's donating me his bone marrow so I guess a visit isn't to much to ask for".
Maggie grinned and said, "I'll go let him know" and as Maggie walked out of the room Payton said, "don't worry sis, something tells me everything is going to be just fine" and she weakly smiled and said, "I hope so Pay, I hope so".
Meanwhile in Dereks room his sisters were laughing and talking about the Christmas that Derek almost burned down the kitchen when he was 5 years old and Derek said, "well in my defense I was only 5 and since then my cooking has improved a great deal".
Desi said, "well big brother it couldn't get much worse", causing Sarah and Desi to laugh and Derek said, "maaaaaa, they are picking on your boy". Fran said, "girls stop picking on your brother, he's got a lot on his mind" and the girls in unison said, "sorry" and Derek stuck out his tongue causing everybody to laugh.
Their attention then turned to the door as Maggie stood there knocking, Derek said, "come in Maggie, come in". She stepped inside and said, "I've talked to my supervisors and they all said the same thing, that since this isn't our normal procedure that it was left up to Ms. Garcia".
Derek said, "can you ask her for me please"?, Maggie stepped closer to his bed and said, "I already have, I just came from her room". Derek sat up and said, "and what did she say, will she let me meet her today"?, Maggie nodded her head and said, "she said that it was the least she could do considering everything you're doing for her".
Derek grinned and said, "can I go meet her now"?, Maggie said, "yeah we better go because they will be coming in to start prepping you for your procedure soon". He nodded his head and followed her from the room.
Fran and the girls decided that it would be best for them to let Derek and Penelope have some time alone, they didn't want to overwhelm her. The closer they got to Penelopes room the faster his heart was racing.
Just before they got to her room Derek took a deep breath and blew it out slowly, Maggie looked at him and said, "are you ready"?, Derek nodded his head and said, "I'm ready Maggie" and she grinned and motioned for him to follow her.
They stepped into the room and Penelope looked up as Maggie said, "Ms. Penelope Garcia this is Mr. Derek Morgan, your donor". She smiled up at him and said, "it's nice to meet you Mr. Morgan".
Derek ran his hand over his head and said, "please call me Derek, Ms. Garcia" and Penelope said, "I will on one condition". Derek said, "and what is your condition"?, she grinned at him and said, "if you call me Penelope".
He said, "deal Penelope" and she said, "deal Derek", he then glanced around the room at the 4 men standing around her bed. She said, "these are my brothers, this is Payton, Patrick, Peter and Paul".
Derek smiled as he shook their hands and said, "it's nice to meet you", Payton said, "it's nice to meet you too and we want to thank you for everything you are doing for our little sister" and Derek grinned and said, "I'm just glad that I can help".
They stood talking for a few minutes before Maggie said, "we better get you back to your room so they can start your prep". Derek said, "oh okay" and then Penelope said, "Derek", he said, "yes Penelope".
She said, "after this is over and I can have visitors again will you come back and see me"?, he said, "I'd like that, I'd like that a lot". Penelope said, "I'd like that a lot too" and Maggie inwardly smiled as she watched the sparks fly.
Penelope watched as Derek and Maggie turned around and walked out of the room, Patrick grinned and said, "he seems like a nice man". Penelope said, "he sure does, I hope that I get the chance to get to know him better".
Payton could tell by the smile on his sisters face that she was smitten and if meeting Derek put that smile on her face than he hoped that he would get to see more smiles on that beautiful face of hers.
Their conversation was interrupted by the nurses that came in to start prepping Penelope for her part of the procedure. The brothers all kissed her gently on the cheek before stepping out into the hall to head to the waiting room for news about their sister.
