Bonded By Love-Ch 6
Over the next few days both Derek and Penelope were put into isolation, Derek mainly for precaution just to make sure that he didn't develop an infection and Penelope because it's protocol after the procedure she went through to be able to monitor for any signs of problems
Today was the day that Derek would be allowed visitors, the team flew in after coming home from a case to check on Derek and see how he was doing. He was all smiles as he looked up to see everybody walking into his room.
Reid said, "how are you feeling"?, Derek said, "I'm okay kid, I had the easy part, it's Penelope that had a lot to go through during this procedure". Hotch said, "how much longer before you'll be released"?, Derek said, "probably tomorrow or the next day but they want me to stay off of work for a couple of weeks to rest".
Dave said, "any news on Penelope"?, Derek shook his head and said, "nothing yet, I was hoping that one of her brothers would come in and tell me something". Emily said, "one of her brothers, how many does she have"?, Derek opened his mouth to answer when he heard another knock at his door.
He grinned and said, "Payton, come in, come in", Payton stepped inside and said, "how are you doing Derek"?, Derek said, "I'm good, a little sore but I'm good". Derek looked around the room and said, "guys this is Penelopes older brother, well one ot them, this is Payton".
Payton smiled and said, "it's nice to meet all of you", Derek said, "you already know my mom and sisters, well this is the rest of my family". Payton looked at everybody as Derek said, "this is my boss Aaron Hotchner and his wife Emily, this is my step father David Rossi and these two trouble makers are Spencer and Jennifer Reid".
Reid said, "heyyyyy, we're not the trouble makers, that would be you my friend", Derek held up his hands and said, "I'm completely innocent on that one" causing everybody to laugh. Derek looked at Payton again and said, "any news about Penelope"?, Payton said, "so far so good, her numbers are increasing and their are no signs of any problems".
Derek said, "that's wonderful, I'm so glad to hear that", Payton said, "yeah, us too", Reid said, "so how much longer before you'll get to see your sister again"?, Payton said, "maybe by the end of the week, it all depends on how her numbers are doing, if they are still doing good like they are now anyway".
Fran said, "this is a very good hospital, she's in the best of hands here", Payton nodded his head and said, "that she is Fran, that she is". He then looked at Derek and said, "I'll go and let you visit with your family, I just wanted to come in and check on you so I'll be able to give the nurse a report for her to give to sis later".
Derek grinned and said, "tell baby girl that I'm doing good and just as soon as she's allowed visitors I'll stop by", Payton nodded his head and said, "I'll tell her" and turned to walk back out of the room but stopped in the hall and said, "if it's okay me and the other three will stop by later to check on you again"?, Derek said, "of course, you are always welcome in here".
Everybody watched as Payton grinned and said, "well then, I guess we'll be seeing you later" as he then turned around and headed back up the hall to find his brothers. Emily smiled and said, "baby girl huh"?, Derek laid back against his pillows and said, "yes, baby girl, I like her, she's a really nice person".
Dave said, "I have no doubt about that son", JJ said, "I'm glad that she's doing good so far, hopefully the procedure will continue to be a complete success". Fran said, "I couldn't have said it better myself JJ" causing the others to smile.'
About an hour later Penelope looked up when her nurse came into the room with her dinner tray and she said, "I have a report from your brother Payton". Penelope sighed and said, "is it about Derek"?, the nurse nodded her head and said, "it is, he's doing good, just a little sore and he was visiting with his family when your brother was in there".
Penelope said, "I'm glad that he's allowed to have visitors, it gets lonesome in this place not seeing anybody but the doctors and nurses". She grinned at the nurse and said, "no offense" and the nurse giggled and said, "none taken Penelope, none taken".
As the nurse set up her tray she said, "oh Derek also told Payton that he was going to stop by and see you just as soon as you are allowed visitors". Penelope smiled and said, "that's awesome news, I can't wait to see him again", the nurse said, "yes he is a handsome man isn't he"?, causing Penelope to blush as she nodded her head yes.
The nurse said, "well I'll be back in a little while to get your tray but if you need anything please just push the call light, okay"?, Penelope said, "will do, will do" as she took a bite of her jello and watched the young nurse disappear out into the hall.
