Last chapter was intense, wasn't it? Give me some feedback about the fight- is there some details I could have included? Was it too short? Too long?
Dont be afraid to leave a review, I read them all and I will consider any suggestions or constructive criticism.
6: Wavetail's new friend
My life sucks too.
It's funny.
Just laugh the pain away.
Wavetail's head hurt like hell. She couldn't even remember how long she'd been banging it against the wall, but she was dizzy with pain when she finally stopped and continued walking toward her room.
Wavetail collapsed on the bed, still unable to think of anything other than the horrible incident just a week and a half ago. It was always going to be her fault, no matter what. Her brother was always going to be dead, no matter what. She didn't care what happened to the creeps who killed him; in her mind, Wavetail had let Bluepaw die, so it was really her who'd killed him.
Before she could finish her thought, she started to feel really sore in the head, and the pain seemed to get worse every second until, finally, blackness settled over her vision and everything stopped.
This wasn't the first time she'd gotten a concussion, nor was it the first time she'd blacked out. But Wavetail had never felt as suicidal as this, hell, she had never really gone through such a state of depression in her life.
She woke up in the hospital, just as expected, except there weren't doctors and nurses running around in a big room. This was a smaller one, it looked like there were only two or three beds in here. Last time she'd been in the hospital, she'd caught some kind of severe illness and had been put in a larger room with about twenty other cats who had similar things. Now she was almost alone in a separate room, the only other cat here being a tan-colored tabby with some darker spots at the base of her tail, and maybe in other places, Wavetail couldn't tell.
To her surprise, the cat was awake. She rolled over to look at Wavetail and, to her extra-surprise, greeted her.
"Hi!" The cat's voice sounded friendly and enthusiastic, with a hint of tiredness to it which was probably from whatever pain she was feeling.
Wavetail wanted to talk to somebody who she couldn't read and predict. Somebody new. "Hi. Who are you?" She asked, trying to meet the other cat's level of friendliness.
"Name's Dawnfeather. What's yours?" She asked. Wavetail held back a sad meow; the name reminded her of Featherwing.
"I'm Wavetail." She responded.
Dawnfeather nodded. "Sorry if you didn't want to be bothered, I just really needed to talk to someone."
Wavetail brightened. This cat was like her. "Don't worry. I actually felt the same way."
"Alright, just wanted to make sure." Then Dawnfeather's gaze turned to her clothes. "That looks like a RiverClan High uniform. Is that where you go to school?"
"Yeah. Most of our teachers came from ThunderClan High though."
"Oh, really? That's where I go."
"Cool. That school's a lot better than mine. There were like two different shootings last month at RiverClan."
"Oh wow! I think I heard about those! Did anyone die?"
Wavetail wasn't sure whether she could trust this cat yet, but she decided to tell her anyway. "One of my friends got shot in a classroom. She was killed by my English teacher, and thankfully, my boyfriend was there that period so he tried to stop the teacher."
"Woah! That's really bad! I'm so sorry your friend died... I wish I could help you."
"Well, you are in a way. It helps to have someone new to talk to, that I can't predict."
"Thanks! Most people say I'm kind of annoying. I'm so glad you appreciate my company. Seriously, though, that must have been really hard for you. Are you okay? Or... If I may ask, is that why you..."
Before Dawnfeather could finish her sentence, Wavetail cut her off. "No, that's not why I did this to myself. I'm not comfortable telling you that right now, sorry."
Dawnfeather looked like she understood. "I get that. You don't have to talk about it. Honestly, I shouldn't have asked. I've only known you for, like, five minutes. The reason I'm here is because some idiot pushed me into the wall really hard. He had been harassing me at school for a while, and I guess one day he decided he wanted to hurt me. It was nothing I did, I think he was just one of those weirdos who hates women. I never really gave a crap, though. Plus, now he's going to have to face the police. Serves him right!" She added with a laugh.
Wavetail was stunned. She didn't know how someone could be harassed like that and not care. But this was a whole new cat. Not everyone is the same.
"Wow. I'm sorry someone did that to you."
"Eh, it's fine. It doesn't hurt quite as bad now." Then, she asked, "Do you want my number? I know it sounds a little too early for that, but I'm just asking."
Wavetail did think it was too early for that. Honestly, it was even a little suspicious. But a more reasonable side of her realized that this cat meant no harm. It was easy to see that in her friendly tone, and the overall nice way she talked. Wavetail also noted that Dawnfeather had never asked for something without making it clear that she wasn't forcing her to do anything.
"Alright, I'm okay with that. You seem really cool. I'd like to keep in touch after I get out of this hell-hole."
"Great! I'll write it down right here..."
Wavetail was happy for once in what seemed like a while. She'd made a new friend.
Redstripe took one last look at the Ziploc bag sitting at Icescar's front door before forcing himself to turn around and go back home. It was over. He was going to stop vaping, and he would never pick one up again.
It was going to be hard, but possible. He needed to help Icescar fix this mess. He walked away quickly, trying to convince himself that he could stop being addicted and to remember that vaping could be deadly later on in life.
When he got home, something very strange happened. There was music playing. It sounded like... Death metal. Like, the most heavy, intense, crazy death metal you've ever heard. And it got louder as Redstripe went upstairs. Slowly, keeping low, he worked his way up the steps to his room, and when he reached the top, he stopped. In his room, there were huge speakers probably ten feet wide and almost the height of the room, and then a rainbow-colored lion, who was just IN THERE, and it was... Dancing. This was a lion on all fours, not a catperson. It actually looked like a pretty good dancer, even considering it was a four-legged LION.
Redstripe nearly passed out, the shock was way too big. He wondered if he'd just been taking LSD and was hallucinating, but he had only ever done that once in his life.
He couldn't help but start to dance with the lion. Not gonna lie, the music was kinda groovy. He didn't care that this was literally impossible according to the rules of space and time. Death metal was awesome.
Next chapter coming Friday!
