Bonded By Love-Ch 31
Derek scooped his bride up in his arms and said, "I'm taking her to the hospital", everybody nodded their heads yes as they watched Derek as he headed back up the aisle with Penelope in his arms. Sarah and Desi told everybody that they would stay with Henry and Jack so that the others could head on to the hospital to be there with Derek and Penelope.
The ride to the hospital felt like it took hours for Derek but it actually only took a few minutes and soon they were pulling into the ER driveway that was usually used for ambulances and other emergencies. Derek put the car in park and ran around to the passenger side of the car where he was met by several doctors and nurses who were waiting to help Penelope.
Derek followed the others inside and stood by his wifes side as they worked to stabilize her and try to figure out what had happened to her that made her collapse at their wedding. Fran and the others were waiting patiently in the hospital ER waiting room on any news of Penelope from Derek or one of the staff.
JJ and Emily were sitting beside Fran and JJ said, "Fran, what do you think is wrong with Penelope"?, Fran said, "I'm thinking that she's pregnant, ohhhh I'd say around 4 to 5 weeks along, that's been about how long it was since they went to the cabin so that they could spend some time alone" as they sat there continuing to wait on any news at all about their newest family member.
Payton blew out a deep breath as he put his head in his hands and sent up a silent prayer that Fran was right about her being pregnant and nothing else being wrong, he couldn't lose her now, not ever. He looked up at his worried brothers and said, "don't worry she's going to be fine, she just has to be" and the other brothers nodded their heads yes in agreement as they sat in silence with the others.
Meanwhile in the ER she still hadn't regained consciousness and Derek was getting worried, he sat beside her bed holding he hand and whispering over and over how much he loved her. The doctors had drawn several tubes of blood and were currently waiting on them before moving on with other tests, they wanted to rule one thing out before moving on to something else.
Alone in her cubicle Derek gently squeezed her hand and said, "you look so beautiful today Mrs. Morgan", he smiled and jumped as her eyes started opening, she looked at him and said, "w w where am I"?, Derek said, "you're in the ER, you fainted sweetness and we brought you here to get you checked out" she bit down on her bottom lip and said, "I'm so sorry".
Derek said, "what are you apologizing for, you didn't do anything gorgeous, you fainted, you couldn't help that", Penelope said, "I didn't eat anything this morning so its probably just low blood sugar". Derek brought her hand to his lips and kissed it and said, "don't worry when the doctors release you we'll go back to mommas and finishing celebrating and I'll make sure that you eat something" causing her to grin as his lips descended on hers.
They pulled apart when they heard somebody walk into the room, they looked up to see a doctor standing there, she smiled and said, "my name is Dr. Karissa Carpenter, how are you feeling Mrs. Morgan"?, Penelope said, "okay, mortified but okay". Karissa said, "honey you have done nothing to be mortified about, nothing at all, you fainted and you couldn't help that", she then looked at Penelope and said, "have you been having any other symptoms today"?, Penelope said, "dizziness and nausea".
Karissa smiled and said, "well I have the results of your tests", Derek gently squeezed Penelopes hand sand said, "is she alright, what's wrong with my wife"?, Karissa said, "well according to her bloodwork she's around 5 weeks pregnant". Penelope looked at Derek and then Karissa and said, "I'm what now"?, Karissa said, "I take it that came to you as a complete surprise"?, Penelope said, "yes mam, definitely, are you sure that I am indeed pregnant"?, Karissa said, "yes mam, they ran the test three times to triple check" .Derek smiled and said, "pregnant, w w we're having a baby"?, Karissa said, "that you are Mr. Morgan, that you are".
Penelope watched as she handed her a script for some prenatal vitamins, she then said, "I urge you to get an OB as soon as possible but I'll give you a script for some vitamins to get you started". Penelope grinned and said, "thank you doctor, thank you so much", Derek couldn't stop smiling as his hand slid to her stomach, he was going to be a daddy, his wife, the love of his life was pregnant with their first child.
Karissa said, "congratulations on your wedding and the news that you're going to be parents in a few months", Penelope said ,"thank you" and Derek said, "we can we go home"?, Karissa handed them her paperwork and said ,"she can go now" and turned around and headed out of the cubicle followed closely by Derek and Penelope.
When they got to the waiting room the others ran over to them and JJ said, "are you alright Garcie"?, Penelope looked up at everybody and with tears streaming down her face she said, "I'm pregnant, around 5 weeks". The waiting room was filled with the sighs of relief and congratulations for the happy couple as they all turned around and headed out of the waiting room, they had to be back to Dave and Frans, they now had two things to celebrate, their wedding and the fact that they were going to be parents.
Fran smiled and said, "finally, I'm finally getting those precious grandbabies" and Payton and the other brothers all laughed and Paul said, "and of course you know that we are going to spoil this child rotten, right"?, Penelope looked at Derek and then her brothers and said, "of that I never had a doubt" as they all climbed into their cars and pulled away from the ER.
