Bidding War
Santana is attending an auction where Quinn is offering a kiss to the highest bidder. And Santana is determined to win.
"Guys, um," Quinn fidgeted with her fingers as she stood in front of the Glee Club. "I'm hosting a charity auction where I am going to offer a kiss to the highest bidder."
Santana frowned. It wasn't like Quinn to be selling herself like this.
"Um," Santana piped up. "Is there a reason why you're doing this?"
"It's um, for food for those in need," Quinn mumbled, still fidgeting with her fingers. "Everybody needs their food and their share of bacon."
Okay, so it was for a good cause.
"Is the kiss going to be on the lips?" Santana clarified because she was intrigued.
Quinn bit her lip as her cheeks pinked. "Yes," she whispered, nodding. "Auction starts after school tomorrow, okay?" Then she smiled meekly before sitting back down in her usual seat.
Santana, however, kept staring at the mop of blonde hair as Quinn sat attentively, listening to vest-man speak. She didn't want some rich douchebag kissing Quinn, never. She would win the auction, no matter how much it cost her.
There were more people at the auction than Santana thought, as she sat in the auditorium amongst other bidders. Most of them were sweaty jocks and there were even a few girls there who claimed they were here to 'watch the show'… it made Santana cringe internally. The picture of a jock manhandling Quinn and bruising her lips, no, that was not going to happen.
Santana was going to win the auction, because she wanted to save Quinn from kissing a jock. Yep.
Santana gripped onto the paddle she was given more tightly with determination.
"Starting price is fifty cents," Quinn announced meekly as she stood on the stage and every single paddle went up.
Quinn seemed to be surprised by this response but Santana wasn't. The value of a kiss with the prettiest girl on earth was way, way more than that.
Wait. Where the hell did that come from, her calling Quinn the prettiest girl?
But to be fair… watching Quinn smile bashfully as she raised the price to one dollar and every paddle staying up… Quinn was incredibly pretty. Santana had always thought that, ever since Quinn was assigned to sit next to her in biology class.
Hmm. Biology.
Santana's arm was soring from raising her paddle so she transferred hands as Quinn raised the price to 5 dollars, and some paddles went down.
Quinn seemed to be a bit overwhelmed by the response because she put her hands on her cheeks, obviously trying to cool her hot cheeks.
"I'll pay fifteen dollars!" somebody suddenly shouted and it was Sam, who had emptied his wallet and waving some notes in the air. "Fifteen and close the auction?"
Quinn seemed to be relieved that she was going to kiss somebody she knew because she made a move to slam the gavel but somebody else jumped in.
"Twenty!" Finn shouted, grinning like a fool. "Um, that's all I have so can nobody outbid me, please?"
"Um, so twenty?" Quinn seemed to be a bit more reluctant now that Finn was the highest bidder. Santana looked at the jocks who no longer looked interested. Ah yes, why did she think they were going to win anyway? They had no money because they were useless.
"Okay, going once, going twice…"
"Thirty!" Santana suddenly shouted. She was not going to let Finn win the bid!
Quinn gaped at the new voice, especially the female voice. "W-Why are you here, Santana –"
"To win the auction!" Santana shouted. "So, thirty?" She whipped around challengingly, looking at everybody most of whom were just watching the show now.
"Nah," Puck stood up and grabbed a wad of cash from his pocket. "Fifty."
Santana gaped as she looked into her purse and saw she only had forty-five dollars in it – she had brought more than usual but she didn't know the bid was going to be this hard to win.
But then it was Quinn, so it made sense.
"Where the hell did you get this much money, Puckerman?" Santana demanded.
"Saved it from my pool cleaning business!" Puck grinned. "So, fifty dollars?"
Quinn was overwhelmed and seemingly stunned into silence as she stood in the spotlight on the stage.
No. She would not let Puck kiss Quinn. Ever again.
"Quinn!" Santana called. "Do you take card payments?"
"U-Uh…" Quinn stuttered. "Yes, I guess…"
"Ha!" Santana shouted triumphantly. "Three hundred dollars!" That was actually 3 months' worth of her allowance from her parents but… it was worth it. All to prevent Quinn from kissing anybody but her.
Wait. Why was she trying to win this auction again?
There was a collective gasp from the audience and then there was silence.
"U-Uh, three hundred dollars…" Quinn's voice shook. "Going once, going twice… sold to Santana Lopez!"
There was scattered applause and Santana simply smiled, basking it in.
And since the show was over, everybody made their leave as Santana got onto the stage.
They stood there, facing each other for a few seconds before Quinn grabbed Santana's arm and led her backstage, into privacy.
"Why are you here, Santana?" Quinn frowned. "Not only here, but to win the auction too?"
"Well…" Santana felt a blush creeping up her neck. "I didn't want a jock to win. And I didn't want any of the boys to win either… I didn't want you to be kissing them, I wanted you to be kissing me."
Wait. Where the hell did that come from?
"O-Oh…" Quinn's cheeks went bright pink as she averted her gaze. "W-Well, I'm glad you won, but you didn't have to pay three hundred dollars for it. But I'm glad you're the one I'm going to be kissing."
"Really?" Santana whispered, feeling hope spark in her chest.
Quinn let out this low hum that turned Santana's legs into jelly.
"So, um… how would this work?" Santana questioned quietly. "Do we kiss, or…"
"I-I guess," Quinn stuttered. "Unless you don't want to, of course…"
"I do," Santana said instantly. Um, where did that come from?
"Oh," Quinn looked relieved before a small smile creeping on her lips. "Okay, um, so here goes…"
Quinn started leaning in and time stood still.
Santana watched as Quinn's eyes fluttered closed (it was so pretty by the way) and Santana closed her eyes too. A split second later, she felt a light pressure on her lips and it made all pent-up, warm feelings inside her explode.
"Mm," Santana hummed as she kissed back, tilting her head which made Quinn hum, pressing their lips more tightly together.
The kiss was getting wetter with every second and it was too soon before Quinn pulled away, panting.
Santana stared on dreamily. "Ah," she mumbled stupidly.
"I guess…" Quinn muttered shyly. "That's it then. It was really nice, just for the record."
"Wait!" Santana called as Quinn looked like she was about to leave. "I have a confession to make."
"Oh?" Quinn raised her eyebrows curiously.
"Um, I realised I didn't win the auction because I wanted to stop a jock from kissing you," Santana admitted, wringing her hands nervously. "I won it because I wanted to kiss you. I guess I have for a while."
"O-Oh," Quinn's jaw dropped before a blush crept from her neck to her ears. "W-Well…" she swallowed. "I have a confession to make too."
"What is it?" Santana whispered.
"I set up the auction… well, it's not for charity, even though I made it seem that way. It's for my bacon allowance which was running low lately," Quinn's cheeks reddened even more as she ducked her head in embarrassment.
"B-But you said it was for those in need!" Santana argued.
"Well, I was talking about myself," Quinn mumbled, a small pout on her lips. "It was a scam this whole time… I'm sorry, Santana. You don't have to pay me."
"But an auction is an auction!" Santana said. "I think I'm legally compelled to pay you now."
"It's okay," Quinn smiled. "I would've kissed you for free anyway. And thanks for saving me from kissing a sweaty boy, I was so scared that would happen."
"Well, of course," Santana smiled. "But seriously? For bacon?"
"I think I might be a bit addicted," Quinn said meekly.
Santana laughed heartily. "Oh, Quinn… when you're my girlfriend, you can get all the bacon you want."
"Girlfriend?" Quinn quirked an eyebrow as Santana's jaw dropped in horror. "It's okay," she laughed. "I'd be into that, actually."
"Yeah?" Santana said hopefully.
Quinn smiled warmly and it was so beautiful. "Yeah."
