Rin had a set schedule, went to class, did some voluntary work with students in the lab since she was passing with flying stars, and then would get ready for work.
"I cannot wait until this weekend so I can spend a little of that money".
She heads into work, and it is not a busy night. She was talking with some of her co-workers, one coworker says, "You should have been here last night, we were so busy".
Rin responds, "I wasn't doing anything, you guys could have called me in, I need as much funds as possible".
She was then requested at a table. Soon as she walked up, she saw trouble, it was Sesshomaru.
She walks up to the table and smiles, "How may I help you sir?"
"What are your specials for tonight?" he says looking up into her eyes deeply.
"Tonight, we have the Steak and Lobster surf and turf meal; it comes with sautéed vegetables on the side".
"Have you tried it?"
"No, I have not but if it sounds appealing to you, I recommend ordering it".
"What have you tried that was appealing to you?"
Rin is starting to get annoyed; she does not understand why he is here requesting her services when he made it clear he did not want anything to do with her. She has never seen him in the restaurant before since the other day. So why is he showing up today? He had no interest in her from what his text said.
"My preference is the shrimp and zucchini noodles with sourdough garlic bread".
"That is what I shall have tonight".
"Okay, do you need anything else?"
"Yes" he responds.
She looks up at him ready for him to tell her what he wants.
"Are you angry with me?"
Rin could not believe what she was hearing, why is he concerned about how she feels about him? Her feelings did not matter when he made his decision to dismiss her.
"Sorry sir, I am just here to do my job. I do not have the slightest clue to what you are talking about?"
"I texted you back that same night; did you receive it?"
"I think I should put your order in so you will not be waiting for a long time".
Rin walked away fast. She did not want to have the discussion, she also asked another waiter to wait on him, and she will take the "L" for that.
Sesshomaru was disappointed but still insisted on leaving Rin a tip. He could not for some reason keep himself away from her. She intrigued him and he just wanted to watch her, to be in her presence. After a long day at work, he just wanted to go to her place of work and watch her interact with others.
Rin received the tip and was instantly annoyed. She did not know whom exactly she got the other one from, but if it came from him, she did not want it. Rin was not the type of girl that received handouts from anyone, especially those that pitied her. She ran out to catch up with Sesshomaru to give him the money back. She did not have any animosity towards him; she just did not care anymore. Once Rin is shown someone's true hand, she makes the decision to forgive or to forget, in this situation, there was nothing to forgive from, so she would forget it. There was no opportunity for forgiveness; she would rather be out of his hair, which is what he wanted, right?
Rin opened the envelope and was baffled, a very large sum of money again.
Why are you doing this, she thought.
She wanted to talk to one of her friends about the situation, but she had to figure it out on her own. She knows her friends; they would push her to pursue something with him. She did not tell the truth on what happened with Sesshomaru, she would rather save herself the embarrassment.
She arrived home, took out all the money, and counted it.
"2,000 dollars so far, this is crazy, I have never received this amount of money working here," she says to herself.
As much as she wanted to keep the money Sesshomaru gave her, she did not like the way it made her feel. She could not take this as a "kind gesture", she did not have that much faith in him. He just had some guilt on his heart and needed forgiveness from what she gathered from the small conversation they had.
Sesshomaru's POV
Sesshomaru went home after dinner with his coworkers and thought about her throughout the night until the morning; he could not get her scent out of his mind. Her scent was so heavily on his mind that he woke up thinking she was right there next to him, and that troubled him. He made a choice to go back to the restaurant and hope to engage in a conversation with her.
When he got to the restaurant, he noticed her scent was not there. He then overheard the manager speaking. "It is so busy tonight, Rin did such a good job yesterday with the large party, she could possibly get more of those type of tables. Too bad she is not here tonight; she could have been a good help".
Sesshomaru turns to leave and decides to try again tomorrow, he needed the guilt to be removed from his heart. He is not the one to just settle, he will go above and beyond if he had to.
He arrived back at the restaurant the next day, and her scent filled the area. She is here today; he thinks to himself. He waits to be seated by the host and stops the girl before she leaves.
"I was here the other night, and I had a waitress that did a wonderful job, and I was wondering would I be able to request her?"
The host replies, "We don't usually switch around waitresses, it is the tables they are assigned to, but I will talk to my manager and see if that change can happen".
Sesshomaru nods.
The host looks for her manager and explains the situation to him and he says, "We can accommodate the heavy tippers, and he is one of them, did he mention who he would like to have wait on him?"
"No, he did not, and I failed to ask him that".
The manager says he will take care of it and walks over to Sesshomaru. "Sir I have been informed you would like to change your staff; did you have someone in mind, or it does not matter who it is?"
"I was here the other day with a large group, and I was impressed, I believe her name was Rin".
"I remember that I can do that, was that all you needed?"
"Yes, that will be all".
Sesshomaru felt relief when he knew Rin would be so close to him again. As soon as he smelled her scent getting stronger towards him, his spirit felt at ease. As she got closer, he felt her apprehensiveness and knew she was uncomfortable just like when they saw each other the other day.
When she spoke, she spoke to his spirit. Her voice made his heart flutter and feel warm inside; He beat himself up for subjecting himself so low for this plain Jane. He just thought if he apologized, the feeling would go away. He wanted to start a conversation with her, so he began asking about the food. She is a professional so she would answer.
He thought he would try his luck and ask questions outside the profession. She automatically shut it down and when he pushed further, she got up out of there and then removed herself to serve him.
Damn it, he thought to himself when he sees another waitress approaching him. He did not question it because he understood it, he felt all of her feelings, and she did not want to be bothered by him.
He still would push forward and act as if the little time she did serve him, meant something so he left her another hefty tip. He knew she would try to return it, so he got up out of there quick. What she did not know he would be back to see her.
Rin sits on her bed and then lays backwards, "What do you want from me? You said what you said, we have nothing to talk about, right?" she says to herself.
