Rin goes inside of her apartment and smiles. She did not have to return the funds and she felt good about the conversation she had with Sesshomaru. No male has ever gone out of their way to apologize and make her feel comfortable. Maybe she thought this could be a start of a true friendship with the opposite sex. She does not know anything about him, and he does not know anything about her. Will it be strange? She knows he must be older than her, but she is 18 years old, so she is an adult. She did not want to be looked down upon if she decided to pursue the friendship. He had to be in his late 20's or 30's but then again, he is a demon so he may have lived hundreds of years at the same age.

Rin texts Kagome to let her know how it went with Sesshomaru and she was relieved that the two were able to find some common ground. Kagome informs Rin that Inuyasha asked her on a date, and she will see how it goes with him. As Rin is still on the phone with Kagome, she gets a notification from Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Rin smiles and replies, she puts Kagome on speaker so she could text and talk at the same time.

Rin: I really do not get to do much as I am either in school or working. When I do have time, my sister is usually pulling me out somewhere.

Sesshomaru: Really? What do you go to school for?

Kagome hears constant tapping and realizes Rin is not responding to her and says, "Rin are you paying attention? You're texting your new friend, huh?"

Rin says, "He did just text me, I am sorry Kagome".

"It's okay girl, I am not going to talk you to death about Inuyasha, and that I am hoping we will have a future together. Maybe if you guys get on the right foot, we could go all out together".

"Not on a date, just as friends and it would need to be with others as well because I don't want any confusion like we are together'.

"Yeah, yeah Rin, talk to you later sis!"

Rin goes back to texting Sesshomaru.

Rin: I am going to school to be a biologist.

Sesshomaru: hmm…So you are into nature.

Rin: yes, the origin, relationship, development, anatomy, and functions of plant and animal life. I love it all. I am mostly into researching plant life.

Sesshomaru: What year are you in?

Rin: I am a freshman; I am in my second semester.

Sesshomaru: You are young, but you know what you want, most young adults do not know what they want to do in life, and you seem focused on that goal. It is admiring".

Rin: Thank you, maybe we can finish this conversation tomorrow. I had a tiring week and want to get some ZZ's 😴.

Sesshomaru: Yes sure, get your beauty rest 😴

AFTER LEAVING RINS APT SESSHOMARU'S POV

Sesshomaru speeds home and gets himself ready for the night. He wants to contact her and he is becoming very impatient; he didn't want to seem desperate; but he was. He texts her and instantly calms at her fast response but then she did not respond for 5 minutes and that drove him crazy. He finally gets a ding from her.

He felt some kind of way when she expressed, she was a freshman so now he knows she is younger. She says what she is going to school for, and he was surprised again. He has not met someone her age going to school to be a biologist. He wanted to know so much more about her, but he did not want her to feel uncomfortable. She is a human and he had to take his time with her, in due time he hopes she will accept his proposal to court her. He still needed to talk to his father to know just how to properly court a human.

He had a feeling that she was his mate but he tried to ignore it, but all those feelings came back with a force when he saw her that day in the restaurant, basking into her scent. He could no longer deny it; it was out of his hands. This petite curvaceous short plain looking woman was his mate and he liked that a lot. She could be his, she could learn so many things from him. He would protect her and pleasure her. He would give her the world if he could, she would only want him.

It was unfortunate for him being the dog demon that he is, Rin did not have to return those feelings, or so he thought. He couldn't control his emotions, but she could control hers because of her human nature. He felt she may have felt something in their initial meeting, she seemed interested until he shot her down. He knew he had to work hard to make it up to her. He needed his mate's forgiveness and to be able to take care of her.

He needed as much advice as possible, he would talk to his father about it the next day.

Rin wakes up bright and early so she can make it to the bank; it closes early on the weekend. She looks at her notifications and looks at the last message Sesshomaru sent. She smiled and thought it was good to have someone other than her sister and a couple girlfriends to text. She texts Sesshomaru and went on about her day.

Rin: Good Morning 😃

Sesshomaru got up the next day and immediately looked through his phone. He only saw one text he truly cared about and that was from Rin. He curves his mouth just a tad and thought today would be a good day.

He gets himself together and calls his father and told him he would need to speak to him about a personal matter.

He enters his father home, he was with Izayoi in their music room. His father looks up and kisses his wife and tells her he will return.

"What is so urgent son that I am granted a presence from you?" he says with a smile.

"Father I think I found my mate, at first I tried to deny it, but I could not get her out of my mind. I have now accepted her. When she is not within my presence, I feel pain. She does not trust me with her feelings right now because the card I dealt. She only wants to be friends".

"I can see the frustration. It is not going to be easy son, and if I am thinking correctly, she is human because if she were a demon, you would be mated without a question".

Sesshomaru nods

"Yes, it will take some time, it has to be her choice to want to be with you. She will feel it sooner or later and she will fall right onto your lap. Just be yourself, be patient and let things just flow. We dog demons are impatient because we want what is ours. I had to wait for Izayoi to come around and look at us now".

Sesshomaru nods. "This is the most difficult thing I had to do, and I don't want to push her further away with my behavior. I don't want any other males around her, I want her covered in my scent only".

Sesshomaru's father chuckle, "I cannot believe my son wants to settle, it is fascinating to watch you in this state".

Sesshomaru annoyed breathes out and then realizes he never responded to Rin's text; he has to be more attentive now. He had to make up for him being an ass and show her he really means what he says by wanting to get to know her more.

Sesshomaru turns from his father and texts Rin.

Sesshomaru: Good Morning! Did you sleep well?

Rin: Yes, I did, I got up this morning and went to the bank.

Sesshomaru: Are you going to be busy for the rest of the day, I would like to catch up with you later.

Rin looks at her phone and thinks he is trying too hard, but it seemed like he was really trying to get her to see the better side of him. If that is what he wanted, she would indulge him.

Rin: Do you like smoothies?

Sesshomaru: I never had one.

Rin: Meet me downtown at smoothie mania!

Sesshomaru: On my way.

Sesshomaru smiles and his father says to him, "It's a process son; it will progress eventually".

Sesshomaru turns away from his father and turns into a beam of light to hurry to get to his mate.
